  1. fraser couldn't even lock down a place in the ict team last season. ryan esson was keeping him out the side. it's not about whether he's good enough to be a sub goalie, ruddy isn't a realistic long term player for us and will either be gone in january or the summer.
  2. what's the stevediggle test? if you meant the onthefringes test my barnet bars me from even entering the exam hall.
  3. i started the thread because i thought that the reason he was dingying the press was because his comments and the coverage generated by them by had went down badly within the squad. as jim says. “Naturally enough when you’re a manager, some players don’t always come and speak to you personally to understand your thinking or what is going through your mind so when they pick up an article like that then obviously it may worry them." which i would say means i wasn't a million miles away. if he actually was suprised and disapointed that scottish football journalists jumped on the comments he made and hyped them up then he's a lot more naive than i imagined. i don't think anyone on here would have been suprised by the effects those comments had, the scottish media are as nothing if not predictable (and c***s)
  4. exactly, every man for themselves.
  5. to clarify i'm not having a go at anyone. i just think the cost of away games is overhyped as a factor in whether most people go or not. i doubt it's a deal breaker for many people whether the price is £17 or £22. anyway as i said at the start of the thread, i think do better in front of wee away supports so everyone who wants to sit in the boozer or give billy hill all their cash when the well are playing away please do
  6. i know all that and that if that post seemed a bit aggressive i'm sorry. but there were 1800 well fans there on saturday and i'd guess there was a broad range of financial circumstances represented. obviously you don't know everyones details but there are folk who will say their not going because of the cost then sit in the pub or the bookies and spend the same amount or more anyway. obviously there are people who are counting every penny at the moment but there are also other people who don't want to admit they'd just rather do something else.
  7. well would it not be more honest to say "there are other things i'd rather spend my disposable income on rather than watching motherwell" rather than complaining about the cost.
  8. you've also got to bear in mind that flow is now an integral cog in the fir park propaganda machine. i recall someone once described him as the joseph goebbels of fir park.
  9. to be fair though he said players so he meant more than one. even if you say it's mcgarry plus someone else who would that be? daz and fitz have been injured, everyone else except from patrick mcpake has been involved to some extent and i doubt he meant him. i think it's fair to say that there's something more to this than having had his feelings hurt by the media.
  10. obviously he doesn't have to tell them anything but... he says pretty much unprompted "some players aren't earning their wages" journalists ears prick up sensing a good story. journo asks who he means jim says "you need to take a look at the team sheets" he actually invited the speculation himself then got uppity when it actually occurred. now either our manager is an idiot an has no idea how to handle the media (which i don't believe) or his comments had an effect that he didn't expect. as soon as he made them there was a thread on here speculating who he meant, it was obvious the papers would do the same. if speculation in the papers annoys him so much don't make controversial statements which attract attention then actually ask the media to draw their own conclusions. if you do feel the need to make statements about the squad in the media have the baws to name names. i don't believe that he is actually pissed off about the papers or the bbc and that he's got other reasons for not speaking to the media.
  11. i was actually thinking fir park was looking quite good from the main stand on sunday afternoon. a wee bit of winter sun and autumunal leaves on the trees behind the east. it looks quite picturesque from over there and at that height.
  12. the diary of jim gannon aged 39 and a 1/2 wed - went for an interview at brighton, nice town, lovely beach, dont fancy the goalie thursday - gave an interview with the bbc criticising my players for not earning their wages
  13. it would be slightly ironic if we didn't a have manager for the aberdeen game.
  14. are you not a compulsive gambler?
  15. you're not goin to get much cheaper than £22 for a league game. considering it's our only away league game in november you'd have thought more people might have been up for it.
  16. forbes has been called up for the u21 squad but i don't think anyone has pulled out.
  17. surely it would be better if he actually was up front and said which players aren't "earning their wages". at least then everyone knows where they stand. and fair enough he might have told them in person but even then whoever it is going to feel like a dick when they hear the interview. i don't believe for a second that he was suprised by the press reaction. as soon as the interview was online people were speculating on here and it's obvious the press would do the same (easy copy) and that the comments would have an effect in the dressing room. i don't think those kind of comments would go down well in any work situation where you have one guy managing a big group. there was an interview with kenny miller in the sunday herald yesterday where he was talking about how the boozegate scandal had a negative effect on him personally even although on paper it was nothing to do with him. “They are team-mates and friends of mine. Every day of your life you’re with them so it becomes a wee bit more than just a working relationship. So it did hurt, the way ‘Fergie’ and ‘Greegsy’ were treated."
  18. it's shame we didn't get behind the team more. ten minutes after half time people started getting impatient there was a bit of a negative vibe from the fans. it was the same as the st mirren cup game, we had a huge turnout but didn't get behind the team the same way we did at tannadice and parkhead.
  19. i thought all your pant wetter comments were already aimed at me it wasn't edited, there's a six minute continuous video on the bbc website. i realise i'm still going on about it but that's what this forum is for plus there are daft points i feel the need to refute.
  20. no one would be happy if they thought they were giving 100% at work and doing their best in a job they had worked hard in for years and then they found out their boss was making public statements that they're not earning their wages. it's playing games because stuff like this should be done face to face. he made a totally loaded statement, then when he was asked specifically who he meant he made he was very vague and literally invited speculation. what other similar situation has there been? mcghee made public comments about mensing, mclean and kinniburgh but he was at least up front enough to name who he was talking about and he always made clear they were training hard and it was nothing to do with how they were going about their work.
  21. saturday was just another example of trying to be too clever. we ended up with 3/4s of the back four playing out of position and o'brien floating about the centre of the park which was mobbed when we could have had him wide to stretch accies.

    Bbc Alba

both games where craigan has been subbed at half time we've gave away far more chances in the second half than we did in the first half. accies caused us far more problems in the second half than the first on saturday and at perth we were very lucky that st johnstone missed a one on one and an empty net.
  23. by making a controversial statement about players then making an ambiguous statment when he was asked who he meant he was inviting speculation. as far as earning their wages only 14 players can play each game but we need more than 14 here. in my book if your keeping yourself in good shape, working hard and your ready to play on a saturday then you are earning your wages. what else can guys like fraser, mcgarry and lasley do? saying they're not earning their wages is an uncalled for slur. it means there due a bit of respect for their past efforts even if they're not going to be part of our future. there's no need for comments like that about anyone, if he feels that way about any contracted players he should let them know face to face and not play games in the media.
  24. to be fair the boy deserved to go. he was very lucky not to get booked for a tackle just before hand and he although he might have had a case with what he actually got booked for he then swore at the ref repeatedly then after getting the red card continued doing. there was another couple of motherwell players who were guilty of dissent on a good number of occasions as well.
