  1. Apologies Owl just jumped the gun.

A lot of Well fans were sceptical about a move to Weds as physicality isnt a strong part of his game, very easily bullied off the ball bye a bigger stronger opponent, which it looks like has been found out down south. To me a move to Holland or similarr style of football  would have suited him more.

When Alan Irvine bought him it was for his alleged pace but he came in at a time of major change and perhaps that sapped the confidence out of the lad. Cue Megsons arrival and now we are looking at six foot seven centre backs like the newly signed Rob Jones. Physicality is very much Megsons ethos when faced with limited resources. We now have money to spend but who wants to come to a third tier team with no recent success?

Reynolds cant fit into the new style Owls defence because we cant afford players to be bullied off the ball. Stoke City mark 2 here we come lol.

I do wish everyone at Motherwell the best for the coming season. I always look for their results.

  2. I can believe he is on his way back to Scotland, hasnt enjoyed much success down south, not the first and wont be the last player to do so.

Out of matter of interest how many games did he play at Centre Half.

I'm led to believe he played the majority at left back. He's never a left back in a million years.

Must admit Owl your post has the condescending arrogant attitude of a typical Englishman. Having watched Weds last year your problems are a hell of a lot more serious than Mark Reynolds.

No way will any team in Scotland outwith the Old Firm pay £450k for Mark Reynolds or any player.

Just for the record not an Englishman and Im sorry you thought my tone was 'arrogant'! It was more about the quality of League One in general (which includes the Owls). Im under no illusions about how crappy SWFC have been recently (with or without Reynolds) and the changes needed ahead. My point was that on his showing for SWFC he was well below the poor standard of the rest of the team (and this division).

2 starts as CB and 2 starts as LB. Subbed in both LB starts and one CB game. We have had some awful players recently but this lad was imho amongst the poorest once he pulled on the new shirt. Whatever he showed at Motherwell he left behind in Scotland.

I dont condescend and follow football from several countries/leagues. I just happen to have a soft spot for the Steelmen. I knew about Reynolds well before he moved south and was originally happy to see him go to the Owls. Sometimes moves work and sometimes they dont. This was a personal disaster for the lad and I hope he recovers. I did think the £450k was a lot of money.

  3. There is a huge possibility that Mark Reynolds will be returning north of the border after falling to 5th choice centre back/4th choice left back at Sheffield Wednesday. Reynolds was individually criticised by Owls boss Gary Megson on more than one occasion and in two of his four starts he was hauled off before half time to be substituted. Reynolds has not achieved the standards required of League One (third division) football and is not seen to have any future in English football.

Reynolds was in talks with Hibs and set for a £450k move until Motherwell showed their interest in re-signing the utility defender. To be honest if Hibs want to pay money for this calamitous defender then I think the Owls should snatch their hands off. Most Owls fans would happily drive him back to Scotland just to get rid.

  4. Getting paid £7000 a week and playing in front of 20,000 every 2nd week is hardly a step down. Graeme Smith and Stephen Hughes couldn't compete in League 1 when they got their 'big' moves last season.

Rangers and Celtic would probably be in the top half of the championship, with Hearts,Hibs and Dundee United probably being able to handle themselves. The rest of the SPL is lower League 1 standard, top end of League 2 IMO.

the 20000 is about the average when the teams doing poorly. A few decent results and watchable opposition can see the attendance hit 30000 as happened a few times last season. I think this seasons best so far is around the 25000 mark

  5. Is that you Ed?

I have a mate who is a Wednesday fan and he sounds quite like you

Anyway I like Reynolds and he has been an important player for us (not without mistake I add) in the centre of defense over the years. The lad has just moved away from a place he has called home almost all his life. Sometimes players take time to settle in and I urge you to give him time.

I also say that for every Kris Boyd there is a Charlie Adam. I would say the SPL is a mixture of the Championship and League one with the odd League 2 side.

As for Franny Jeffers a club like Motherwell need to gamble on players and he has been decent since he joined us and has already scored.

By the way I will be down on on Easter Monday for the game against Swindon. Hope the 2 ex well boys are playing.

No Not Ed but had an interest in following Motherwells results since Phil O'Donnell played for us. One of the best imports not to play much football for the Owls (Due to injury)!

  6. Probably the worst left sided defender seen at Hillsborough in the last 20 years. Started 5 games. Subbed in three (one after 19 minutes). Average player score 4/10 for his appearances. Not even made the squad for the last 2 league games. Told in no uncertain terms by Owls boss Gary Megson that his performances were 'poor'.

My first question is, was he any good at Motherwell and would you have him back (please))?

Giles Coke doesnt get a guaranteed start above players who have Championship experience in the Owls side. If Tommy Miller would stay fit then Coke wouldnt get in the side.

My second question is, do you agree that on average the SPL is the equivalent level of League One in England (essentially our third division)?

Ive never thought that Celtic or Rangers would be able to compete in the English Premiership. Look at players like Chris Boyd who scored bagfuls in the SPL. Cant find the net in the Championship and in a team largely sourced from the SPL which is destined for the drop into League One (Middlesborough).

My final question is, Francis jeffers, really? Why? 3 goals in 3 years and only 9 starts due to injury and very poor form for SWFC!

Best of luck for the rest of the season.
