3 of the U/19 squad have received call ups to join training camps being held by the national side at Inverclyde tomorrow.

Erwin and Murray will meet up with the U/ 18's whilst Leitch will do likewise with the U/ 17's.

Well done to all and another wee boost for the Club.

Where did you hear this? Not doubting you, but the dad of one of those boys knows nothing about it and is keen to know if it's official.

So Jack Leitch has been playing for our u'19's this season at the age of 16. Is that not a bit younger than the average squad member? I take it he's a good prospect then?

He has been full time since August and has made several appearances from the subs bench. Can't remember offhand if he has started any games. He is a good prospect and has done well when he has come on.

The U/19 squad have several players who turn 18 this year which make them eligible for U19's again next season. Talk is that it will be an U/20 league so the bulk of the squad have a couple of years left in them.

Great news. It's always good to hear that our youngsters are getting some recognition from the national side.

They best enjoy it while they can. If they progress to the full squad they'll likely get sod all by way of international recognition unless they move to Dundee United <_>

Sorry; you are correct in what you say, transpires young Leitch was put forward but not as such selected to attend. Many apologies for confusion.

Still stands the club in good stead that players are being selected/ considered at this level.

I agree - two in the u-18s, one on the radar of the u-17s, five of the eight boys who won the football gold medal at the Children's Games last summer are in our u-17s, and one who had to pull out of the Children's Games squad because of a broken arm has also had Scotland recognition. And these are just examples of the talent sprinkled throughout the age groups.

The Well youth system continues to produce good footballers rather than the approach taken by many other clubs of finding big strong boys and trying to teach them to kick a ball.
