Some mildly diverting penalty stats from the SFA (that's Archive, not Association) twitter feed yesterday-- seems we've given away fewer than any other SPL team over the past three seasons.

Motherwell given away least (10), Celtic 11, Rangers 11 No penalties scored against Celtic at Parkhead in last three seasons

Kilmarnock given away most at home (12) Kilmarnock given away most away (15) Kilmarnock given away most total (27), next Dundee United (21)

Aberdeen/St Mirren have been awarded least away (2) Rangers have highest percentage converted (93%) Celtic least percentage converted (52%)

Aberdeen have been given most at home (16) Dundee Utd most away (14) Rangers converted most (25) St Mirren given least in four seasons (6)

Further penalty research, since start of 2006/07 season (until this weekend) 204 penalties have been awarded in SPL; 75% have been converted

i've only found 44 penalties awarded in the whole of season 2006/07, does anybody have statistics available anywhere to add to research?

about 16 hours ago via Tweetie

might be surprising (to some) that the team that has had the most penalties awarded over those two seasons, is not one of the Old Firm teams

SPL Penalty Statistics 2007/08: 64 awarded, 52 scored = 81% converted 2008/09: 56 awarded, 37 scored = 66% converted ... research continues!

about 22 hours ago via Tweetie

56 penalties were awarded in the SPL in 2008/09, 37 were scored = 66% of penalties converted; only St Mirren didn't score a pen all season

Before Coke it was Quinn at Aberdeen on Nov 29th 2008. We actually did have four red cards last season, DC at Parkhead, Quinn at Killie and Aberdeen and Porter v Hamilton.

We only had one sending off in season 2007/08 - Bob Malcolm at Celtic Park.

In 2006/07 we had quite a few 6 in total, including two double sending offs - Paterson and Clarkson in the same game at Kilmarnock; Fitzpatrick v Rangers; Quinn v Dundee Utd; and McDonald and Reynolds in the same game at Dunfermline.

oops forgot about that 1. :woop:

maybe hearts and killie could have a look at us to see how to defend well without kicking people.

I'm absolutely baffled at how it can be so ingrained in a club to kick folk off the park, regardless of the manager or players there at the time. Surely attitudes would evolve over the years as different folk leave and join the club. Is there something in the water? :D
