Change Of Fixtures

DIdnae take long for the first major gripe of the season eh? Boys fitba' moves to Sunday morning this coming season so that's potentially 3 off the gate every time although our season tickets are paid for already. 2 Mates coming from York urnae very happy, paid for advance tickets, non-refundable, same day return. Might not bother trying again seeing as 2 years ago same guys found out about Shellic call-off when their train pulled into Edinburgh Station. Not just 2 lost from this game perhaps, maybe 2 lost for good?

We try sell our game, it's sold off to a higher bidder. What is the point? Already lost a sizeable contingent who used to travel from Yorkshire for every last game of the season, and others inbetween, with this stupid split. Is it only us who try to actually sell the game to other folk? Surely these TV games should have been organised before the fixtures went public.

Don't know why anyone is surprised at this. There was always gonna be an opening game moved to Sunday for TV & with the mould firm playing Inverness & Killie our game is the most attractive fixture on the card especailly after what happened in our last match with Hibs. Hope it's a boring 1-0 to the Well just to piss everyone off :(

According to the SPL website, our last 3pm home game on a Saturday was the 1-0 loss to Falkirk on 3rd April. By my count that makes it 8 fixtures between our last 3pm Saturday home game and our next one, against Aberdeen on 18/09/10.

That's shocking.

If anything most fans should be happy about this?

The game would was always going to be moved 100% - considering Hibs will be participating in the Europa League, the preceding Thursday - and most likely ourselves if we manage to overcome Breidablik.

So, the game was always going to be played on the Sunday - at least now for our exiled fans it will be shown live.

Fair enough we can complain about the kick-off times, but it was never going to be played at Sat 3pm anyway.

Spot on. Anyone who thought this game would have got a Saturday kick off on Europa week is an idiot. Games are 99.9% of the time always moved if one of the clubs are involved the previous Thursday - of which Hibs are, and hopefully so wuill we be. If anyone bought advanced tickets then they're the fools - not Motherwell's fault.

As for the Celtic game - again, is anyone else really shocked? It's Celtic, it's at home - it's not like the game be moved is a new thing. Just happens practically every season.

Maybe I am an idiot but our game with Hibs isn't at the end of a European week is it?

Pretty sure this is when Scotland are playing Sweden.

I think you are not an idiot. However if we are still going our game with Killie could be shifting as well and we could have three Sunday games to start with.

I just wonder at the financial impact for the club here. With two 12 noon kicks offs on a Sunday, who is going to roll up to the Cooper for a pre-match pint or five? Will they be able to open at that time anyway, given the licensing laws? What about the corporate hospitality aspect?

And as a contributer to One Step Beyond, the moving of the Hibs game could affect our sales that day!!

Seriously though, 12 noon is too early for a game, especially when considering the travelling for both home and away fans.

why should most fans be Happy? a sunday at noon, after being previously notified of a Saturday at 3pm

sure the few that score out the move like Gazzy should be happy but 'most fans'?

Spot on, A fuckin idiot

Fuck you, it must be shite up there on that high horse all yourself, they might be fools but certainly not for buying advance tickets, just for being like the rest of us and even trying to show support for an SPL team

happens all the time, so we should just shut up and be happy? Bollox

and while I'm at it , it is partially Motherwells fault, everybody needs to remember the SPL is the twelve member clubs , so all of these fuck ups that are killing the game as a spectator sport are self inflicted

I think that its a fuckin disgrace that they show an old firm away game nearly[if not] every week.As Brazillian said it is a TWELVE team league and not a two team one.And they wonder why we haven't got any money to fix the pitch or buy players.

Be angry all you want but is simple economics, supply and demand. Why would a profit-making, customer pleasing TV company show St Johnstone v Motherwell to keep, what 5000 subscribing, paying fans happy when they could show Dundee Utd v Rangers, Motherwell v Celtic, Kilmarnock v Rangers and keep 100,000+ paying fans happy? This year they have even tuned into the fact that the Edinburgh clubs have a large Nation wide potential audience so feature one of them when the Old Firm aren't on.

In fact not one of the games picked has none of the Glasgow and Edinburgh clubs.

It sucks - but it makes perfect sense.

3 live games a season.

We're hardly a man united or a chelsea. You's are all relics! get with the times

It doesn't hit Man U or Chelsea though cos their ground is still full every week. When we are on we lose people and it costs us more than it earns us. Maybe not in that game but if folk decide three games anyway on the telly there is no point in buying a ST and then its a bit chilly for an Inverness game on a Wednesday night they may decide fuck going and its more money lost. Teams in the middle order get shafted more by the TV deal.
