  1. Were it genuinely the case the Scottish Government were seeking to covet the votes of football supporters in Scotland they could have followed the line adopted in several other European countries weeks ago and opened stadia in an even restricted form. That they haven't and for the last three months have left themselves open to criticism by fans, pundits, club representatives and whoever else wants to have a pop, justified or otherwise, does not suggest to me these actions are taken with vote winning in mind. And you'll be aware that rugby is in exactly the same situation with both Glasgow and Edinburgh playing behind closed doors as indeed did Scotland when they hosted Georgia on Friday evening. For me forthcoming discussions in the immediate future with the footballing and rugby authorities are sensible to have. There has been a re-classification of the Covid arrangements announced, UEFA I believed changed their guidelines in terms of fans attending shortly before the last set of internationals and there further games to come next month as well as the ongoing European ties. There are Scotland rugby internationals in November and December too. Clubs are feeling the lack of fans. It makes perfect sense to reconvene to discuss how the land is lying and what the situation is for everyone around the table. I have not seen anyone with the authority to make it happen however quoted or even infer that the opening of stadiums is imminent. It's clickbait pure and simple, which given and given as steelboy suggests, is almost certainly not going to happen, is only likely to have the effect of whipping up more of a frenzy by whose who believe they are being hard done by. A cynic might suggest that is ultimately the point of such pieces. But football fans who I continually read already perceive themselves to be second class citizens, who have been denied access to stadiums, who having been given a chink of light by "a source" in the Daily Record, that they might return have their hopes dashed by the Scottish Government - and that's supposed to be them trying to win votes? I don't buy it.
  2. Are you sure it's not just you attempting to mix some fairly transparent clickbait and the re-classification of the Covid-threat levels to fit your pre-determined view that everything the Scottish Government does is with a view to entice people to vote for them in an election six months away?
  3. "Frankly ridiculous" is perhaps overstating it. Signing a free-agent defender on a short-term contract until January for cover in Heneghan is not massively dissimilar to signing a free-agent on a contract to January in O'Donnell. That all said I do actually agree with you it's an unnecessary signing.
  4. Will we will make it two wins in succession? Even a shot on target would be progress on our last visit!
  5. In fairness he's not going to be able to contribute very much when he's hardly involved. I can't disagree that the hasn't exactly set the heather on fire when he has been involved but in the two starts he made - games where there very few were stand-outs it should be acknowledged - he didn't get more than a hour. And we can't be much off ninety minutes combined if you tot up all the substitute appearances since. I had hoped that curious but occasional mystical chemistry where a player and club just seem to work perfectly for another (perhaps like Watt) might come into play and spark something of a rejuvenation in him but as yet that hasn't happened. But if are we are going to return to the 4-3-3 again I'd suggest giving Hastie another chance or two before we revert to playing Christopher Long out wide again.
  6. Your thoughts and votes please...
  7. Really? I look forward to the hounding about not speaking about other teams because as we know under absolutely no circumstances does any employee of Celtic EVER talk about the opposition or their players...
  8. Can the unbeaten October run continue for another week?...
  9. The return of the league, our international representatives and to winning ways?
  10. If I remember rightly it was a combination of teams who won their Nations League groups along with (I think) runners up in the Euro 2020 Qualifiers. In a few cases teams qualified via both routes and they then worked their way down to see who the next best team was and repeated the process until the play-off spots were filled.

Nah, McFadden was away in 2003. It was towards the end of 2004 before Hammell got his only cap.

McCormack and Clarkson in 2008 I think. Both came off the bench in a defeat against the Czech Republic. Not sure if there's been any other double acts since.
  13. .... looking in the wrong place? Not looking hard enough? There's 14 pages worth on information from today's announcement alone. Evidence on Infection Trends from Announcement earlier today

  17. Good point! Well made. Naebody likes a smart arse....
  18. To assist us with our glorious European campaign (ahem...) we're excused the delights of the Betfred Group Stages this season, but the fun and games kick off this evening. We've developed something of a penchant for lifting trophies with a one in the year (1931'32, 1950'51, 1951'52, 1981'82, 1990'91) we surely couldn't repeat the trick in 2021. Could we...?
  19. Assuming there hasn't been any breaking of rules I'm inclined to be sympathetic with Kilmarnock, and indeed St Mirren. Easy to scream about how bad a decision it is and demand they forefeit but we've no idea if further down the line the same might happen to us, and potentially even more than once. So I wouldn't be too hasty in jumping in with that. There is some pretty mental scheduling going on in England - and I'm astounded by how many big names have been playing in their League Cup games, but the likes of Spurs with a Thu-Sun-Tue-Thu-Sun schedule does illustrate that it is possible, if not desirable to work in additional fixtures.
  20. If it is off, just wait until Killie tell all the PPV buyers that they need to go down to Rugby Park and give their details to a steward, be told three days later that, oh actually there isn't anything about refunds in the T&C's but how would you like to buy again for a fiver?
  21. Nah, PPV. There are three or four on the Friday, presumably to assist Scotland's preparations. The two others are on Sunday I'm guessing because of Europa League involvement.
  22. One was straight at him, the other had Air Traffic Control momentarily concerned.
  23. I'm not sure what my hopes and expectations when I go to see Motherwell have to do you with you being asked to justify a near weekly call for the manager to be replaced?
