  1. Just thought the other defenders should be given a chance.
  2. I just think that Saunders and Page/Hutchison would be a better bet for us. I like Craigan and he has been a player of distinction for us. His time has come now, let us see what the younger players are capable of. At the end of the day, we are in sixth place. I'd like to see us give young players some time on the pitch and build for next season.
  3. The appointment of McCall didn't fill me with optimism, but, he seems to have an enthusiasm that he had as a player. If he can install ten percent of the grit and determination he had as a player then that would be a useful addition. After all, he won forty caps for Scotland when we actually qualified for major competitions. I'm sorry if I sound like I have a shrine to Stuart McCall here (I don't) but there has been so much negativity about the, let's face it, new manager here. It has been individual mistakes that have cost us. No manager can account for that, even a certain Jose!
  4. I thought we'd get a few new faces. It has all gone a bit too quiet on the transfer front!
  5. I didn't state that Saunders was a 'top quality' centre half. I pointed out that he is a Scotland international now. So is Gary Kenneth. I know how I'd rather have! Saunders with Page or Hutchison would be my preferred option, with Hateley at right back. He's been anonymous (be polite and diplomatic here) in midfield.
  6. I know John Boyle very well and have the utmost admiration for what he has invested financially and emotionally in MFC. As a business model, the club is not viable. It is my belief that only the emotional attachment of the the fans of the club that make the continued support of the board a reason for them to continue. If you had a good few quid in the bank would you invest it in a venture knowing that, long term, it would make you a huge loss. Would you have knocked back Tommy Coakley's advances knowing that it would give you a reasonable return on what you invested? So, here's to John Boyle - and - his rant on Sky was one of the best I've seen in modern football. Nearly on a par with Delia Smith!
  7. I'd like to see him get a start. McHugh is out for six weeks, so I do hope he'll see more than ten minutes at the end of a game.
  8. As much as I'd love to see us with silverware, with no place in Europe as a prize, this competition was made worthless some time ago.
  9. Surely McCall has to realise, no matter how difficult dropping the captain may be, that Craigan has had his playing career. The fans know it and have done for some time. I was never a fan of Gannon's methods, but he dropped Craigan and the youth did well initially. Given that Page, Hutchison and especially Saunders, now an international, are all much more experienced now than they were they have to be given a chance.
  10. Not a happy bunny here. We should be beating teams like this with the players we have.
  11. Now we don't get given corners, great.
  12. When will any manager of ours learn - Hateley is never a midfielder!
  13. Was in that awful sport section that they have on the STV news now. Many players in England play for their own clubs then play for two clubs on loan in a season. I can see McCall's point. Grella has been on the fringes of the USA national team and is viewed as one with a lot of potential.
  14. I saw Adams having lunch with John Boyle when he was still a player with us and TB was the manager. Thought there was something sneeky there.
  15. I just hope McCall does bring in "someone as good, if not, better," than Blackman.
  16. As reported on STV, McCall is to contact FIFA in hope of signing Grella. Any views?
  17. Is this as bad as it sounds on the radio?
  18. Sorry, take your point as well. If we hadn't given McFadden a run, would he be where he is now?
  19. McHugh's loan has been cancelled.
  20. Okay, perhaps with the last games offering little in attack, aside from the woeful Dundee side we faced, perhaps McCall should give McHugh, Pollock and the others a bit of a run?
  21. The whole Grella saga has been an embarrassment for the club. I just hope we don't repeat this saga.
  22. I thought I'd post a new thread for this topic. I am not exactly thrilled that McCall was installed as our manager, but time will tell. Obviously, I'm as disappointed as the next well fan that the Grella deal fell through and I think the club should have established the facts of loan deals before making a mockery of our beloved club. That aside, what about Steve Jones and Cedric Collett. Is it me, or is Jones really not what we should be seeking?
