Obviously we are not challenging for Europe but I’m having trouble finding out what spots are up for grabs. Is it 2 champions league, 1 Europa league and 2 conference league? Or alternately, how many Scottish teams will qualify for European competitions?
Something like : top 2 get champions league, cup winners get Europa, third and 4th place gets Conference league, if 1st-4th win the cup then 5th gets conference league.

An early draw against County and win against Saints should see us coast over the line. If our first two games are against Hibs and Aberdeen then we may still be in a battle by the time these games are done.

Lennon Miller wont be with us next season, firstly we cant afford to let his contract run down to the end of 2025. Hes not going to sign another extension. I get the impression the one he did sign was similar to Turnbull to ensure we got some money for our investment. Id expect the club to cash in in the summer.

I must admit I hadn't even thought about Dundee Utd, that's where the due diligence would need to be spot on
Hopefully we wouldn't be signing forwards on between 4 and 8 k per week...it was ridiculous they were relegated with the wage bill they had.
That is my concern, we receive a bit of money, we attract ‘better’ players on higher wages and this becomes the norm when the money disappears. We need to understand the lifespan of any investment and the exit strategy once the fun stops.
I would rather we received some money for some American with Scottish heritage to show off to his pals for a couple of years then disappear than some investor thinking there is money to be made. I would also rather any money went into the infrastructure of the club and the stadium and leave the players on the pitch to be paid for by us punters, sponsorship etc i.e keep our running costs at a sustainable level but take advantage of the opportunity to secure our long term future.

The playoffs should be the same as the English system ie 2 sides relegated from the Scottish Premiership, 1 automatic promotion from championship and the other spot via the playoffs. As what we have now is biased in favour of the side finishing 11th as they only have 2 games to play.
Team in 11th play 38 + 2 across the season, if the team finishing second gets through they play 36 + 4, pretty equal.
The inequality is if the team in 3rd or 4th prevails but from above they have an ‘unearned’ opportunity.

Anyone know if there's a way to listen to Sportsound 2pm last Saturday? I believe SK was on it and can't imagine VAR wasn't discussed.
Doesnt seem to be available on BBC Sounds
There is a 228 minute one from the 23rd, scrub that it is a Northern Irish one.

A great win. I just wonder how basically the same players have started to show positive signs of winning.
It’s the encouragement they get from the message boards

I do wonder if we are on an upward trajectory, I may have to eat my words later but recent results have been much closer than in previous years. Not many, five, six, seven goal defeats like we were witnessing. Maybe the win will come over the next 18 months. We also seem to get no ‘luck’ in these game, sometime you need that.
18 months or 5 hours, whatever

Good to see positive line up with 2 up top. Wonder if SOD left wing back and McGinn Right wing back. Blaney left of back 3. We shall see....COYW
Blaney at left (wing) back, the rest of the defence to stay the same, minimal changes.

For games against the OF I think we do lack bottle as a club. Regardless of who the manager is or what players we have our mentality in these games is wrong.
Forget narrowly losing to Celtic in September, we still lost. Forget almost scraping a draw against Celtic last week, we didn’t, we still lost.
It is over twenty years since we recorded a league victory over Rangers and our last win against them was over six years ago. It’s over eight years since we beat Celtic in any competition. I know we are not going to compete against either of them over the course of a season but it does my head in seeing other sides manage to pick up results against them here and there while we never can these days. Please don’t anyone try and raise me games from the 1990s or when it was still legal to smoke indoors to support an argument that our record against the OF isn’t as bad as I am making out. It is. It clearly is and I would give anything for that to change today, as unlikely as it is.
I do wonder if we are on an upward trajectory, I may have to eat my words later but recent results have been much closer than in previous years. Yet there are folk complaining that he was subbed. I agree that this wasn't his best game and that Celtic had a lot of crosses in from that side.
They had more crosses when he went off

I thought Miller was poor right up until he wasn’t. None of the subs made an impact. Bair looked like he could do some damage in the first half. I would vote for the Miller/Spittal combo for the goal. But I can’t.

It's quite telling that we finished above Kilmarnock last season and beat them at home the last time we played but Kettlewell has lowered expectations so much that most people see this as a game we are unlikely to win.
A few months ago we had to ignore results against the Old Firm, then it was ignore the results against Aberdeen and Hearts. Now it doesn't matter if we get beat off Kilmarnock at home apparently.
Kilmarnock was our last home win on the 26th of August 2023.
Where did we beat Livingston?

I don’t expect a CB on the assumption that those we have will return from injury, oversubscribed there.

I think the Ibrox play off game would make it two in total.

FFS, the guys been gone a few years now and playing in the same league as us so we’re all aware of how he’s getting on - do we really need to keep discussing him? I can understand talk of him moving on and potential money we would get but this chat is just pish.

Gent also got a couple of good balls into the box when he went back to left back late in the game.

Did he get a pay off, i.e. have St Johnstone effectively paid his salary this year and we are topping it up with the buttons that was reported earlier in the season.
