    The Small-Medium Rebuild 2018'19

I think this is the situation in a nutshell - Speedie read out "28 David Hastie" and there was a bit of pantomime booing at the error.

    The Small-Medium Rebuild 2018'19

I'm sure Robinson would be friendly with a number of players he played with, it doesn't automatically follow that it's the only reason George signed with us. We played 3 at the back at that stage and Ainsworth isn't the most defensively responsible winger you'll ever see so Gordon playing ahead of him wasn't that ridiculous. The fact that we stayed up suggests that the manager might have called it right...

    The Small-Medium Rebuild 2018'19

I've seen him referred to as a cunt twice at least... I'm not offended by that, I just think it's a bit strong when the lad's not done anything wrong. We've got one newspaper rumour and the knives are out.

    The Small-Medium Rebuild 2018'19

So the club are massively at fault in your opinion for not signing up young players, while at the same time being massively at fault for signing up young players? Or does it boil down to the fact that the 2 players that were given contracts you don't happen to like? The coaches that work with them daily see something in them that maybe you don't...

    The Small-Medium Rebuild 2018'19

Some of the comments on here about Hastie are ridiculous, he's a young boy who's played a few games for the first team and he's being vilified on the basis of some paper talk. There might be a lot of truth in the reports, while they might be unsubstantiated rumours - it's unknown. If Motherwell were trying to sign a player from another team in this situation we'd all be expecting the player to drop everything and sign, and to hell with his current employers. But when the shoe's potentially on the other foot it's unacceptable? I have no idea who Jake Hastie supports, and quite frankly I don't really care, but if he's grown up as a Rangers fan and this chance is presented to him then of course it's going to appeal to him. Until he's either signed a new deal, or signed with another club - whoever they may be - as it stands he's done absolutely nothing to deserve some of the comments on here...

Robinson... How Do We Think He's Doing ?

Manager of the Month - mibbes no as bad as some would want to believe after all....
  7. The club highlights don't show it either...
  8. It was Celtic... Was Liam Donnelly who was being replaced early in the first half. Had we put the ball out for the sub to be made, Celtic would of course have given us the ball back with no questions asked. Would probably also have arranged for an emergency loan to be put in place so that we'd have cover for the player as well...
  9. Christie wasn't down in need of treatment, he'd already had that so it's not all that clear cut. That said, if Celtic had scored a goal in the same circumstances yesterday we'd have been unhappy so it's probably one that we've got wrong. However, the sanctimonious shite that we're being subjected to now almost makes me happy that we did it. As has been mentioned, last season alone Celtic scored twice where their player threw themselves to the ground under no contact and feigned injury to get a Motherwell player sent off. Not once did Brendan Rodgers offer anything other than an assertion that they had done nothing wrong and sought to justify both penalties. Against St Johnstone they were awarded a penalty which clearly wasn't, and were more than happy to tuck it away and move on. No talk of Celtic players needing to "redeem themselves" or thoughts of how "It's a goal that shouldn't have stood so you have a chance to do something about it" and how these incidents are "unfortunate for the game" or even how Sinclair, McGregor and Brown were involved in "disappointing acts on a football pitch" and how "the criticism goes to the players because it wasn't a good act at all". None of that at all. Chris Sutton called it disgraceful, yet he himself did exactly the same thing as a player. Brendan Rodgers' Celtic side played on to score while an Astana player was lying with a head knock. Strachan's Celtic sides would routinely 'give the ball back' by chipping it into the corner and pressing the opposition. The hypocrisy from the Celtic fans and management is astounding on this - and that's not even mentioning the Edoard challenges on Aldred and McHugh and the reaction to McHugh being stretchered off, followed by the "Orange Bastard" tweets he was sent amongst those wishing him dead. An Irishman from Donegal who has his Twitter name in Gaelic hardly screams "Orange" to me... In a week where the Celtic fans were shook to the core by an incident at Ibrox that had nothing to do with them they have displayed the exact behaviour they were devastated by. Ashamed of nothing, offended by everything. Fuck them.
  10. The chants of "he's deid" during the thunderclaps were disgusting, the fact that there are Hearts fans laughing about it online is even more disgusting...

    Gordon Banks

The save from Lee Hollis at Pittodrie would rank higher I reckon - judging by Lee's reaction when he caught the ball, he had no idea that there was a ball in use or even if he was on a football pitch. Remarkable in the circumstances...

Robinson... How Do We Think He's Doing ?

That doesn't alter the fact at all that he played a formation (successfully for the most part) that didn't use full backs... There would no doubt have been criticism if he'd signed 2 full backs to sit and collect a wage or he'd shoehorned them in the side. Tait playing on the left is just another example of the modern trend for playing guys on their 'wrong' side so they can cut inside. Hastie is very left footed but plays on the right, Aryibi is the opposite just now and that's working well. Christ, we're on a 5 game unbeaten league run, second in the form table only because C comes before M in the alphabet and folk still want to look for things to criticise...

    Turnbull/Lambert

I know this is about David Turnbull, but in Hastie I see an impact similar to that of McFadden in terms of the goals he's scoring... There's a sense of anticipation whenever he's on the ball now,

    Dundee Man of the Match

Maybe the criticism of Michael Stewart was a bit harsh....

Robinson... How Do We Think He's Doing ?

I left the game on Saturday convinced he had to go... In the cold light of day I think there's still a glimmer of hope for him, if he can implement this new style of play. The thought of going to the game tonight fills me with no excitement, it's dread which is quite a damning situation I suppose. On his preferred style of play, it's not pretty but it can be effective if the players implement it correctly. A long ball is perfectly fine as long as it's not aimless, which is unfortunately what we're getting a lot of the time. I was watching a video of some of Motherwell's best goals of recent times, and 3 of them would hardly be described as total football - Moult scored 2 lobs directly from a long ball from a defender and Jutkiewicz turned an aimless punt into one of the best goals seen in Scotland. The key thing is that the players involved either worked hard to make something of the situation or the long ball was played into space for them. The long ball at present is doing nothing positive. Last season the midfield were pressing and winning the second balls, which we aren't doing this season, so we're making nothing of the direct balls at all and that's where it becomes very unattractive and frustrating to watch. If Gillespie puts a long ball right onto the head of a forward tonight who knocks it down for a team mate to volley a shot into the top corner we'll be delighted, and it won't get much more direct than that...

    Robinson Signings

Dunne's pace is critical at time in defence, how is that not effective? Is it only effective if it's attacking? Usain Bolt would struggle to complete 90 minutes of football, but would you say he has no pace? Of course you can have pace but not have the fitness to play 90 minutes. Johnson should be fit enough to last 90 minutes of course, but that's nothing at all to do with his pace. We've not played a system with wingers in Robinson's entire time until the last couple of games... There was little need to sign one. He has 3 now, and Cadden has the attributes to play there so possibly 4. All good now? Well, not yet because we're not playing a style that suits wingers yet.
  18. ScottW1886

    Robinson Signings

So it's now changed to 'pace going forward' as opposed to pace? Johnson is unfit rather than having no pace then. He has pace, and I'd argue that the showed enough pace and fitness to score the late equaliser against Celtic. So there are left wingers at the club after all? Just that we haven't played with wingers and loaned one out? Aryibi has pace, has played all his career as a right winger, but because he's just signed that's indicative that the manager hasn't done anything to address the lack of pace and a right winger?
  19. ScottW1886

    Robinson Signings

Charles Dunne is one of the fastest players in the country... Danny Johnson managed to out pace Shay Logan over a pitch long race.. Aryibi has pace to burn... Cadden is no slouch and neither is Frear. There's pace in the team. Elliot Frear is an out and out left winger, Jake Hastie is also a left winger. Aryibi is a right winger, he's probably the very definition of a right winger. Robinson's signings can be questioned, but none of those statements above are accurate!

    2018’19 Game 17:St Johnstone (A) Saturday 15th December 2018

Does this maybe show why Robinson is employed by a football club to make decisions, while you just criticise his every decision with no real consequences? Also, a 3-5-2 doesn't use a left back.

    2018’19 Game 15:Celtic (H) Wednesday 5th December 2018

Last season that level of contact was sufficient for Sinclair and McGregor to be awarded penalties against us, so it seems fair enough that it's also a foul by Benkovic

    Aberdeen Man of the Match

ARod for me... He was instrumental in his 14 minute cameo and has been the real driving force in the recent 3 wins.

    2018’19 Game 13: Aberdeen (H) Saturday 24th November 2018

Is this linked to the Ikpeazu challenge? Robinson said he deliberately signed 2 'first choice' goalkeepers so this is the scenario this was intended for then.

    2018’19 Game 13: Aberdeen (H) Saturday 24th November 2018

If McHugh's was a penalty then this was... Not even highlighted on Sportscene either.
  25. This bit is absolutely key... Assuming we score the penalty, it's 7-2 and not much of a difference on the day. That 1 goal could be as good as 3 points come the end of the season in determining a European place for The Rangers, and a playoff/relegation place for us. That, and Tavernier should be suspended for their next game so their next opponents can also feel aggrieved that when The Rangers get their inevitable penalty, their penalty taker shouldn't be taking it.
