  1. Great team performance thought the back three were outstanding with everyone else working their socks off. Pity the captain will miss the semi as he played a real captains role yesterday even after he got booked .Who would have thought we would be in two semis this season ( not me) so let me eat a bit of humble pie and say well done to Mr Robinson and his staff and hope he can make it two finals in one season

  2. That was just brilliant. That is the type of game and result that makes all the miserable cold wet afternoons watching 1-0 defeats worthwhile. Right through the team we had great performances and a real togetherness. After the penalty Dunne put his arms around Cedric and encouraged him and Aldred did the same after the winning goal. I thought the three of them played great as a unit. Who would have thought that we would not miss Hartley and the much maligned Dunne would become such an important player. Carson showed why he should be POY. Apart from his game saving save he commanded his area and spreads confidence. Tait was good too. He is so two footed and his versatility allows us to change formation. He started at left wing back and finished at right full back. Then there is little Alan Campbell who runs around terrorising players that are bigger and look stronger and he can play too. Then the captain who does so much to protect the back three and his wonder strike will live long in the memory. Mains dribble at the end and completely doing the wee laddie in the Hearts team just epitomised the strength and fitness of the squad. Levein was hilarious in his interview. He was feeling so comfortable that he was thinking of making a positive change to nick it. What with 5 minutes to go. Our boss did it with 15 to go. He changed from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2 then took off our right back and put on a left winger whose cross led to the winner. On to Hampden. Hopefully we can make the top six too. Maybe yesterday will lead to a Hearts collapse and we can sneak in. So many positives yesterday but the doom mongers on here need to find something to moan about so we get moans about the low home support. Whether you were there or watched on the telly for God's sake enjoy a great performance and result against a club who have way more resources than us.

  3. Aye...polite, general discussion. Sad and terrible stuff right enough.

  4. Carson. He gets a lot of mentions but (in my eyes) not the full credit he is due. He's been our player of the season and the reason we've gotten so far in the cup competitions. Everyone will remember Carl's goal (and Moult's in the semi-final) but won't remember the 15+ crosses, 4 world class saves and countless others he's made in those games. Easily our most consistent performer this season and my POTY by some distance.

  5. Main launches a 16 year old into orbit- legend!! Lafferty breathes on big centre half Aldred who dives- lock him up!!! Shame1!!!!1 People are mental. Anyway right enjoyed the game. Mchugh’s goal managed to stir me from my earth shatteringly bad hangover, so it must have been good.

  6. I dunno how many of the people looking for action against Lafferty for the challenge on Aldred in front of the dugout, have seen it on TV...but it was a tad embarrassing to an almost cringe point, he baaaaarely touched him. No fan of Lafferty at all but Aldred's lucky to not get carded there.

  7. He is doing just fine if you ask me, a cup final already and another semi final to look forward to, most people would have taken that in August as a successful season. Think back to the shite we had to put up with under Barraclough and mcGhee and then judge how well Robinson has done.

  8. Amazes me that at end of 2017 folk wanted him sacked if we didn't beat Accies in cup and Ross co in league.....

  9. Really enjoyed that today. We were miles the better team in the first half. But for some dodgy refereeing and some poor decision making in the final third we could have had the game wrapped up by half time. The penalty in the 2nd half changed things and we were lucky to weather the storm for 25 mins or so. Robbos changes certainly got us back into the game and I thought we finished the last 10 mins the stronger team and what a goal to win it! Absolute scenes! A couple of observations. Lafferty fouled one of our players every time he went up for a high ball. He should have been carded early doors. The push in front of the dug outs was as ridiculous as it was unecessary. Despite our obvious flaws in possession of the ball at times, the mental strength of our team cannot be questioned. Days like today make all the hard times feel worth it.

  11. A separate post from me on today's attendance. A number of reasons for today's poor home crowd. A generic reason to begin with. None of the home teams in the 4 quarter finals attracted their average home crowds. Celtic 18K yesterday; Aberdeen 8.7K yesterday (home average 13-14K); and Rangers 33K today. Fans are put off by having to pay extra for cup games end of. Today's game was on TV and that was always going to reduce the crowd. Finally the weather reduced our crowd by several hundred and Hearts probably by the same. Before the beast from the east arrived I expected a crowd of 8,000 - 8,500 (with about 3,000 - 3,500 Well fans) and I reckon that we'd have achieved that. I know of about a dozen fans (including Al B it seems) who didn't travel because of weather conditions or transport problems. There will have been far more. Not all Well fans live in Motherwell or Hearts fans live in Edinburgh. It snowed heavily and constantly where I live between 10.00 and about 15.00. A gritter got stuck just opposite our house this morning. I just wasn't going to risk it. Maybe a technical question to end with. Does anyone know if the recorded crowd of 7,564 included tickets sold but not used? Looking at the South Stand on TV I was was very impressed with the Hearts fans but there were still a goodly number of empty seats in there. I'd estimate their crowd at about 4,300ish, well short of the much quoted 4,800.

  12. I don’t understand the negativity surrounding the amount of well fans there today. For me there were a number of factors that had an effect on the crowd, the weather this week being the biggest one, totally understand why people wouldn’t want to risk travelling after the last few days. Add in the fact the game was live on BBC then it means people wouldn’t ‘miss’ the game if they decided not to go. As for the Hearts support, fair play to them it was great, however they had to pre purchase tickets so had already paid the money for the game before the weather turned this week, I don’t believe for a min that the hearts crowd would have been anywhere near that size if it was a PATG game for them.

  14. Having Carson in goals is a very solid foundation, went for him. Campbell, Dunne good too, and no sub par performances from anyone
