  1. Seriously, IF this game was to happen bearing in mind International weekend, which, if any, of the BIG names would likely make an appearance??

I could only really imagine the retired chaps like Giggs, Scholes, Neville and the like, perhaps anyone nearing back to fitness for a wee run out (Hargreaves?) etc...trafficlight...your thoughts please....

I've got two young, Man Utd daft nephews, 16 and 10, who are desperate for me to get info...!!

  2. the motherwell stuff i have framed i've had done in there, to try and keep all the frames the same!!!

That's good to know of that place mate...the last place I went to shut down and I was needing somewhere esle.

  3. How fucking dare you Cakes?

Not at all, I did try Buckfast once...but puked up after the second mouthful...fuckin' awful sheeyight so it was....anyway, ye' can buy a bottle o' merlot, shiraz or cabernet sauvignon in most drop out offies cheaper than Bucky these days..............(rumour has it?)........

Can we get back on topic please, where were we?

Aw aye, I'm a fraudster fuckpig that disnae go tae games........

    Please continue....

  4. I agree with the last part KSS - and it shows what can happen if we give players support instead of pelters.

Big difference of opinion here. I think Clarky will do it - his first touch can at times be poor and he needs to stay on his feet - but other times it's absolutely bang on. He can run at and beat defences - and to say he's just a tap in player is ludicrous. the amount of outside / edge of the box shots and clever chips as well as headers he's scored doesn't bear thinking about. (and how shite was his control just before he slipped it past Peter Cech)

I sometimes wonder if the folks on here actually go to the games.

I'm not saying he's a world beater - but he has the skill and temperament to make a go of it in The Championship.

Mr Diggle, I dunno whether that was a personal dig at me or not, but I'm the kinda guy that takes things that way when I read them...I'm gonna be big enough to admit that NO I DON'T go to the games much, I go if and when I can afford it, but not week in / week out....so if you win that particular pissing contest, well done.

BUT...I really think have seen enough of Clarkson over tha years and games I have to stand by my comments.

I sometimes wonder if the folks on here are actually allowed an opinion that differs from you.

  5. Aye, it isn't fair enough, but how much further (farther?) can he go?

DC is one of those players that splits Well fans right down the middle, don't get me wrong, I'd love him to shine down south, I really would, but I widnae put my mortgage on it happening.

I'm gonna get shot down for this, but personally I think him being Uncle Phil's wee nephew (and what happened with Uncle P) has bought him some time and reignited a passion with the fans to DC for something that perhaps wisnae there in the first place?

  6. Clarkson scores goals, and works hard. They say genius is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. While Clarky will never have the natural talent of a Rosco, to finish top scorer outside the OF in a team that ended up 7th in the league, means the guy has something to offer.

People also tend to forget how young he is. Conventional wisdom is that strikers don't peak until they are around 28. That gives the boy another few years of improvement.

C'mon weeyin, he's 23 for fuck sakes, it's a younger mans game nowadays....Rooney's 23 and he's been at Man Utd for 5 years or so after a 27 million transfer, Del Piero got his first cap for Italy when he was 18, Benzema's just went to Real Madrid for 30 odd million and he's 21.......the age thing disnae cut it nowadays.

I'm not for one trying to compare Clarkson to any of the above, but using his age to defend his progress / potential (or lack of), for me just disnae cut it.

  7. I've done well on eBay lately buying signed programmes, got a Davie Cooper signed one for a fiver (was legit as well, my mates got his sig and compared it with it), a full squad signed nancy home one for a tenner and a 1979 Aberdeen one signed by Wark for £3.

  8. I can't atually see what is unfair by what is written to be honest.

As disappointing and upsetting as it is to us all as 'Well fans that this inexcusable event happened, it did actually happen. If it was two guys in their 20's accused of attacking someone in their 20's or 30's, chances are nothing would ever have been mentioned...you could say it's typical media sensationalism, with the greatest respect to the victim involved.

I also take the point that the good stuff happened as well, and hasn't been reported and fully understand why this is disappointing insomuch that it counters the negative story, but at the end of the day, it could also be argued that these are two entirely seperate stories.

I'm not trying to defend Scott here, I don't know the guy from Adam to be honest and I have no knowledge of how the media industry works either, just saying things as I see them.

  9. Is it written into the course when you're studying journalism at Uni that loyalty counts for feck all and that you have to sell your soul to the devil?

99% of the 'Well fans behaved in the correct manner, the club conducted themselves as well as they could have done, yet the nation will view us as a bunch of thugs.

I know that a minority can often tarnish the reputation of the majority, but it's a bit of a kick in the teeth when it's one of our own who lets the world know.

    Disappointed in you, Scott.

    Never heard of editors?

Perhaps Scott did write about 99.9% of the fans behaving impecably, perhaps he did write about the fans mingling and marching to the ground without incident, perhaps he did write about the fanzone and the coming together of both sets of fans...I dunno?

  10. One name for yeh.

    Ikechi Anya?

I'm guessing that's the guy who was released from Northampton Town, but was picked up by Athletico after being at Glenn Hoddle's soccer school in Spain?

  11. Im really excited about next season, its anyones guess where we finish but i think come the start of the season we will be in an enviable position compared to Falkrik, Hamilton, Hibs etc.

Agreed mate. I think with the team we could potentially have and the system we're playing now puts us in line for a great season. If the defence is up to par and we get a 2nd striker to rotate with Sutton. Overlapping full backs, natrual wingers who can actually cross a ball. It all looks good.

I havent been this exicted preseason since the Malpas era.

And before anyone starts we had a strikeforce of Elliot, McCormack, McDonald and Clarkson which looked good on paper :D

2 signings, a winger and a centre mid. Chuffed already but now all we need is a centre half, a right back, another centre mid and 2 strikers...oh and maybe a goalie.

Although we may not know much about any of the new players, from what we've heard it does sound promising. Like many have said, exciting times ahead.

What a difference a couple of weeks makes from the doom and gloom surrounding this site at he beginning of June...!!

    :P:D

  12. I just hope to fuck that this old guy is ok...my grampa (as I called him) passed away about 5 or 6 years ago when he was 73...as long as I knew him (I was born in '74) he was a die hard 'Well fan and 'cause of that, I was always trying to get him back to Fir Park, he always told me he'd loved to go, but any week I phoned, there was always an excuse...t...he eventually admitted to me one New Year (under the influence!!) that he never had the confidence to go back after soooooooo long being away....I was devastaed, would have loved to have taken my gramps to a game..........because of this, I just pray to god that the old bloke isny put off coming back next season after these wankers...

I aint a big (hard man type) guy by any means, but I'd love 20 minutes in a locked cell with each of these fuckwits...fucking cowardly pussy's them both.....and as for the uncle..............

  13. BTW - He partly explains why the contract is a short one. He wants to test the water and if he likes it he will sign an extended contract if both paries like what they see.

Makes sense I suppose...I mean, if my compay wanted me to go down to Merseyside to work, I think I'd rather do so on a shorter deal on my terms rather than commit to two or three right away without knowing a great deal about the place I was going to be staying or working etc...why should footballers be any different...other than to appease us fickle fans?
