  1. This must be what it's like the night before your only daughter's wedding. Pride, nerves, excitement, and a deep nagging worry that she is going to get rode stupid on her big day. Admittedly, not by (at the very least) 11 guys.

    LOL!!

Head says Celtic win, heart says Motherwell win. Going with the heart!!!

Nerves kicking in now, reckon I won't sleep much tonight.

  2. I was wondering, if we win the cup, is there anythin special happening at night or is the whole of motherwell just gonna be a party? I've never been out in Motherwell so wouldn't really know where to go but would want to celebrate with well fans if we do win!

I should think that if we win Motherwell will be jumping. Pubs favoured by 'Well supporters tend to be Jack Daniels, Electric Bar and The New Century. However if we win one word will probably sum it up - carnage :yahoo::drinks::cheers::woop:

  3. With all the flak currently flying about the Neil Lennon incident at Tynecastle and threatened subsequent actions we have to be aware of our own actions on the day. Some press are reporting that both Hearts and Celtic face consequences because of the songs they sang on the night. About time too, although the other culprits across Glasgow are conveviently forgotten. It make it very important that we, as a support, do not react in the wrong way at the Final. Let's keep the songs purely football based. If that includes "If you hate Neil Lennon" then we would argue that is because of his actions and comments as a manager and not because of any sectarian anti-Northern Ireland Catholic reason. Celtic fans would think otherwise and no doubt make it a reason to point fingers at our support as they are currently at their paranoid and deflecting worst. We have to be careful on the day so let's keep the moral high ground and don't let the team down.

Good post brainier. It would all to easy for us to be tarred with the same brush as other teams so lets keep the singing about Motherwell and football

  4. Got my tickets today at FP.:yahoo: Just over 3 hours from joining the Q to walking out the ticket office. Seemed to be quite a few folk buying new STs and then buying their 4 Cup Final tickets. As another poster stated this is the unknown quantity but the girls in the ticket office reckoned - as of late this afternoon - over 5000 tickets had been sold.

I was after tickets in the South Stand. Sections P1 & P2 are MFC 'corporate' . I then tried for sections P3 & P4 but couldn't get 4 tickets in the same row so now in section P5.

Now its rant time. Met my next door neighbour when I got home. He asked if I'd got my Final tickets. I replied I had after Q'ing for 3 hours. He then tells me that he got tickets for him and his boy this morning via a friend who has an ST. Fair enough I hear you say, but here's the thing that gets me - the guy is a currant bun (not a fanatical one but still one of them) and the only football shirt I've seen his boy wearing is Man City :dash2: so there's 2 day trippers right away. Rant over

  5. 4 weeks to go and the nerves are kicking in already!!! The wife has already told me 'its only a game' :wallbash:

Anyway my tuppence worth is that any 'Well fan that wants a ticket for the final will get one as I reckon we will get 15000 as per 2005 CIS Cup Final.

    Mon the Well!!

  6. Over the piece a draw was about right. The "third" Well turned up today - a weird mixture of the very good and downright awful. We started every brightly scoring early on and for the first 10 / 15 minutes looked very good. Then for the next 60 minutes we defended far too deeply, surrendered midield and looked very shaky defensively. In the closing stages we once again looked good after United tired.

In the first half, Hammell and Gunning looked all over the place defensively and gave United a lifeline. They did improve a bit in the second half. In general the midfield seemed unwilling or unable to support the 2 strikers for most of the game and Jamie Murphy looked totally out of sorts once again. He proved once again he's no defender. Humphrey should have been introduced before HT.

The ref had a huge influence on the game ad United quickly and cynically took advantage of his leniency. First off their RB should have been cautioned for a shocking late challenge on one of our lads. Had the ref done that, that would have spiked United's guns early on. Next up Barry Douglas was extremely fortunate to escape a red card for lashing out at a prostrate Fran Jeffers - not even a word from the ref. Quite a bit of diving too from Swanson and Goodwillie. I thought that United's first should have been ruled out as Swanson impeded Gunning near the corner flag. David Goodwillie's sportsmanship - don't get me started. The game had a nasty edge to it and United are beginning to remind me of Alex MacDonald's Hearts side. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

On a positive note I thought that Jeffers and Sutton played very well.

We'll need to up our game in the replay though - United will have daly and Kenneth back, although Jennings will be back for us. Must learn not be be bullied and intimidated by physical sides though.

    +1

Good summing up of the game.

Also like to add that Goodwillie is a total knob. Skilful, talented player maybe but still a knob. I'm also going to miss the replay :( as I'll be in Leicester that week on a training course for my work.

  7. Really hard to pick a MOTM for today as Randolph, Lasley, Jennings, Sutton, Hateley, Gunning and Forbes all had great performances. However the standout for me was Hutch - another great game for the boy.

  8. had real radio on at six:

the opening title sequence had me reaching for the tuner

" Since 1888 Scottish football fans have only cared about one game............"

shame I was gonna give Mark Benstead a chance, but his producers set the tone for me to switch off

I heard that as well and it was my cue to switch off. My currant bun supporting work colleagues today were asking me what half of the OF I supported. One of them even took the huff when I said I probably wouldn't even watch the OF hatefest

  9. Has Murphy been off the boil that much he's not included?

I believe Murphy is too old for the U-21s and no way is a 'Well striker going to get a sniff at the senior squad under Levein's tenure

  10. Close run thing between Randolph and Hutchinson. The keeper had 2 or 3 great saves in the 1st half but I'll go for Hutch as he had a great game considering it was his first start since December 2009(?)
