Scottish Premiership Game 27: Kilmarnock (H) 17/02/18 15:00Toxteth O'Grady replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat Aye, the better team are behind. Main is having a great game, but his loss of possession in midfield led to the goal, although O'Donnell should have been closed down quicker. Carson has had little else to do. Looked a pen to me too.

Hartley out for 2 months minimum http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43076403 Motherwell: Peter Hartley out for two months with foot injury 3 hours ago From the sectionMotherwell Motherwell defender Peter Hartley Motherwell defender Peter Hartley has made 17 appearances, scoring three times, since joining from Blackpool Motherwell centre-back Peter Hartley has been ruled out for two months with a foot injury. The 29-year-old was assessed by a specialist after aggravating the injury before the winter break. "Peter is not going to require surgery but he is going to be out for a minimum of two months," said Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson. "It's a problem that he had with his foot, just innocuous, jogging along, and he felt something pop in his foot." Hartley joined Motherwell on loan from Blackpool at the beginning of the season, then made the move permanent in January when he signed a contract until 2020. Motherwell defender Tom Aldred and St Johnstone striker Denny Johnstone Tom Aldred joined Motherwell on loan from Bury and has helped to fill in for the injured Hartley The defender has not featured in Motherwell's past five matches, but Robinson is relieved that the injury is not as severe as the club thought initially. "We have had him see a specialist," Robinson said. "It wasn't as bad as possibly we first feared, but we will be lucky to get him back before the end of the season." The Motherwell manager does not intend to sign a replacement defender, even though Ellis Plummer is out with a broken leg, since loanee Tom Aldred and academy graduate Barry Maguire have stepped into the breach. Robinson may, though, look to add to his striking options if he can identify any suitable free agents. "We're always looking, we have some potential targets that we are looking at this week," the Motherwell manager added. "Ryan Bowman has been training all week so he could be involved on Saturday. George Newell has just been a bit stop-start, he has had a foot problem and then a hamstring problem. "If I had both of them fully fit then probably not but we are still keeping our eyes and ears to the ground to see what's out there."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42916877 Motherwell boss Robinson to consider free agent forwards 1 hour ago Stephen Robinson is short of attacking options because of injuries Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson will monitor forwards who are free agents after injuries and fruitless attempts to sign a striker on Wednesday. Robinson had already recruited Curtis Main following Louis Moult's departure to Preston North End but Ryan Bowman and George Newell are injured. The transfer window closed on Wednesday, when Main scored in Well's 2-1 loss to Hibernian at Easter Road. "We will see what comes up, but I don't want to rush into it," said Robinson. "I don't want to just fill the squad with players. "We are hoping to have [George Newell] back next week, and Ryan Bowman is being assessed, but that's looking like another month. "Had they been fit I wouldn't be looking again but unfortunately they both got injured in the space of 24 hours. "We have three or four players I feel can really contribute, and then we have to look down the line to the young ones. "It's something we will monitor. If the right player comes along we will take him but I'm not going to fill the squad up." Well are sixth in the Scottish Premiership - six points below Hearts and two above Kilmarnock - and host Partick Thistle on Saturday. And Robinson said of his endeavour to sign a forward on transfer deadline day: "When I left for the Hibs game we had signed him and he was on his way up the road, but a deal fell down on the other club's part and they pulled the plug on it. "You're open to that and the boy was extremely disappointed and I feel he would have made a big difference. "It was only after the game where [chief operating officer] Alan Burrows informed me it hadn't been done, and some of the players got wind of it because they knew the player. "It's disappointing but you deal with it. We have players in the building who can deal with it."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42872223 Trevor Carson: Motherwell value goalkeeper higher than Celtic's £200,000 bid 15 minutes ago Motherwell value goalkeeper Trevor Carson at significantly higher than the £200,000 bid from Celtic that the Fir Park club rejected. The 29-year-old arrived at Fir Park on a three-year contract in the summer in a £10,000 move from Hartlepool United. Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson said it would be a "nightmare scenario" to lose his goalkeeper with one day left of the transfer window. "It would have to be a very good bid to let Trevor go," Robinson said. "It would certainly make things very difficult for me. "Player's valuations go up and down depending on what point in the window you're at because the closer you are to the end then the timescale to replace them becomes very difficult." Celtic made the move after Scotland number one Craig Gordon was ruled out for up to 12 weeks through injury. They are seeking competition for understudy Dorus de Vries - who replaced Gordon at half-time in Saturday's 1-0 win over Hibernian - with third-choice Conor Hazard loaned out for the season to Championship club Falkirk. Northern Irishman Carson, who started his career with Sunderland, has made 28 appearances this season for Well. Celtic goalkeeper Dorus de Vries Celtic goalkeeper Dorus de Vries, 37, made his second appearance of the season as a substitute against Hibernian "I spoke to Brendan yesterday after he had the courtesy to ring me. We then passed it over to the money men, [Motherwell chief executive] Alan Burrows and [Celtic chief executive] Peter Lawwell," Robinson said. "They had a chat but realised our valuations were miles away from one another. That's as far as it has gone. "Trevor is a Motherwell player and will stay a Motherwell player until our valuations are met. "He is very much committed to Motherwell. He has two-and-a-half years left on his contract and it's 24 hours left until the close of the window. "So people will be sold from this football club at the right price when we decide, not when others decide."

http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2018/01/26/alex-fisher-leaves-for-yeovil-town/ Alex Fisher leaves for Yeovil TownFriday, January 26, 2018 Alex Fisher has left Motherwell Football Club to join Yeovil Town on a permanent deal. The English striker, who joined in the summer from Inverness CT, will go straight into the League Two side’s squad for the FA Cup tie with Manchester United on tonight. Fisher made 19 appearances for the Steelmen and was part of the squad who made it to this season’s Betfred Cup final. However, he has found regular football difficult to come by. “I just want to say thanks to everyone at Motherwell for making me feel so welcome,” the 27-year-old said of his departure. “Although I only spent a short time with you all, it was a memorable time to be involved with the club. “I leave with a heavy heart but also relishing the opportunity to play in England again, and potentially make my debut against Manchester United. “Thanks to everyone involved with Motherwell. I wish you all the very best for the future.” Manager Stephen Robinson said of the player’s departure: “We wish Alex all the best at Yeovil. “He was someone we signed based on his performances in the Scottish Premiership last season, but unfortunately it hasn’t happened for him here due to the form of others. “That can happen sometimes in football. Sometimes things don’t just work for boys at certain clubs. “This move will give Alex the chance of a fresh start. Around this club, he has been the model professional and his attitude is first class. “We wish him well for the future. We will now look to replace him before the window closes.”

Scottish Cup Final v Celtic (Hampden) 19/05/18 15:00Toxteth O'Grady replied to something else's topic in Club Chat Good first half. Bit of a return to the pressing game. Aldred off with what looked like a hamstring injury. Hammell replaced him. Tanner pulling the strings just behind the front two. Main looks good in the air and Ciftci has had some lovely touches. One brilliant save from Carson, but otherwise he hasn't had a lot to do.

The Sun have obviously been keeping an eye on this thread. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/2093108/motherwell-stephen-robinson-inverness-blackpool-tom-aldred/ WELL SWOOP Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson lines up move for former Inverness and Blackpool defender Tom Aldred The 27-year-old has represented Scotland at youth level and made four appearances for the Highland side during Terry Butcher's time in charge EXCLUSIVE By Kenny MacDonald 14th January 2018, 11:38 pm MOTHERWELL want to bring former Scotland youth international Tom Aldred back north. The 6ft 2in central defender will be allowed to leave League One Bury just six months after joining them from Blackpool. GETTY IMAGES - GETTY 1 Aldred during his time at BlackpoolAldred previously came north from Watford in 2011 for a proposed six-month loan deal at Inverness Caley Thistle. But he lasted just four games under Caley boss Terry Butcher, who cut short the arrangement after a month after Aldred conceded a penalty in a 2-0 home defeat against Rangers. He was dropped and sent to play for a Caley second string side in a North of Scotland Cup tie. Aldred, 27, went on to make more than 100 appearances for both Accrington Stanley and Blackpool.

Motherwell want to take Ben Heneghan back to Fir Park in a loan deal from Sheffield United The 24-year-old, who cost £400,000, has become frustrated and manager Chris Wilder is ready to let him go out on loan EXCLUSIVE By Derek McGregor 10th January 2018, 10:32 pm Updated: 10th January 2018, 10:35 pm MOTHERWELL boss Stephen Robinson wants to take Ben Heneghan back to Fir Park. Robinson has confirmed to SunSport he is seeking a loan deal for the defender, who quit Well for Sheffield United on deadline day last August but has yet to play a game. Ben Heneghan KEITH CAMPBELL - THE SUN GLASGOW Heneghan is a loan target for Stephen Robinson The 24-year-old, who cost £400,000, has become frustrated and manager Chris Wilder is ready to let him go on loan. And Robinson has made his pitch for the defender, who played 50 games in his 14 months with the Steelmen. The Northern Irishman has already landed strikers Curtis Main and Nadir Ciftci this month. He has targeted at least two more signings, including Heneghan, before Well return from their winter camp in Tenerife to play Hamilton in the Scottish Cup on January 20. Ciftci has joined on loan from Celtic Robinson, whose side face Ostersunds in a bounce game on Saturday, said: “I’m in constant touch with Ben. But he’s got a lot of options and other places he could go. “Ben hasn’t played at Sheffield United and he’s someone we’ve enquired about and spoken to. Our priority is another defender, especially a right-sided one, who can provide competition for Cedric Kipre and give us another right-back option. “Ben’s aware of our interest and he’s one of a few defenders we’ve had discussions about and are looking at. We’d love to have him back. “Realistically, it may be difficult for us. But I’ve not ruled it out.” Robbo confirmed to SunSport he is seeking a loan deal for defender Robinson has no concerns over loan capture Ciftci despite the Turk flopping in his last two loan moves from Celtic at Pogoń Szczecin and Plymouth. He added: “I’m very friendly with Darren Jackson while we have Craig Hinchcliffe on our staff here. Both worked with Nadir at Dundee United and speak very highly of him. I’ve also spoken to his mentor, Pierre van Hooijdonk. I’ve heard nothing but positives and I’ve been impressed with him in training. “He can be a big player for us. I’m also very happy we’ve got Curtis in.”
