  1. Yes I am from Liverpool, the same part as Jenno, though I've lived in the South of England for more than 20 years. I've met Jenno several times, and watched his career progress closely at Tranmere, and have the occasional visit here ot check how he's getting on.
  2. A few points worth noting. Blue Square are not taking "sending off" bets in any of todays live games on UK TV. Nor have they priced up the two Saturday lunchtime games, one in the PL, one in the SPL. They don't even offer the market for the weekend's "marquee" game, United v Chelsea. This would suggest they never offer this market. Someone mentioned Paddy Power offering 8/1 pre match. I'm a keen gambler, though not in these markets, but looking around it's generally 3/1 - 4/1 for a sending off, so Paddy Power would cover their own arse by claiming palpble error. As for specific sending offs, ie: named player. I don't know many bookies who take these bets, but saw on another forum the odds for the Juve v City game. Adebayor was 40/1, Balotelli - 16/1, and the latter is a fruitcake, returning to Italy, where he would likely to be wound up by fans and players. I'd imagine someone betting such high amounts on that sort of market would understand betting and seek out the best odds available. 10/1 seems a shocking price. Then there's the problem of getting such an amount on. I have numerous bookmaker accounts, and a few have reduced my staking. I'm usually a £50 punter, but Stan James and Skybet have reduced my stakes to £2 - £3, and I've been with Stan James for 15 years. There is absolutely no chance of someone getting such an amount on with a new account, especially on such a specific market. With the normal odds being around 3/1 - 4/1 the only suggestion is "in play", and with it being so late in the match 10/1 sounds reasonable odds, but how many firms play this market during the game? Betfair is the obvious one, and they have a policy of reporting dodgy betting patterns apparently. Not sure if they do with the amount of "dodgy" games in Eastern Europe and late season games in Italy. However, someone posted a link to a Guardian article claiming it was not Betfair, but I think that's the only place you could arguably get the bet on. I say arguably because the liquidity is poor in these type of markets. As I type, the Juve v City game is approaching the 80th minute and there has only been £2,700 matched, thats only £1350 on either side. Backed and layed. To get £500 into that type of market is exceptionally hard work. And I think the best point in this thread is, if Jenno was involved, it's quite a gamble leaving it so late because of substitutions. Unless of course he's one of those players who doesn't get subbed much? My conclusion is, if the bet was taken pre match the bookies would claim palp error and not pay out. If it was bet in play, I would say fair play on getting matched in such a poor liquidity market.
  3. Quick update: http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/3943...ial-for-Phoenix Good luck for tonight in Iceland. (BTW - Is it just me, or can you not post replies on Firefox?)
  4. Hi guys. Tranmere fan here...again. I came in peace last year talking about Steve Jennings. I see you have Chris Shuker on trial this week. Not really sure what to make of it to be honest. When we first signed him he was excellent. He could turn a game. He used to run at full backs, take them on and whip in some decent crosses. He would also bag a few goals. He then suffered a bad injury, and like many wingers I think it affected his mind as much as it did his body. He wasn't really in our manager's plans last season. Firstly we didn't really have a manager, he was our physio, and he set out a system/formation that was based more on workrate rather than flair, something Shukes has shown in his Rovers career. I think everyone knew his days was numbered. He signed his last contract when we paid better wages, so as one of the higher earners, and with his injury problems he was always going to be first out of the door when his contract expired. The problem is, as you're all no doubt aware, is wide men often blow hot and cold, so don't expect miracles, but if he can have more good games than bad he'll be a decent signing. One thing worth noting is he had a short spell playing just behind our strikers last year, and in my opinion he looked at home in that position. He had a free role where he could drift all over the final third of the pitch rather than be stuck up against a big ugly fullback, and pace (which has probably lost since his injury) wasn't as neccessary as it would be as a winger. I suggested 12 month's ago that you had a diamond in Jenno, and reading snippets on here throughout last season it looked like he won the fans over. Not sure I can say the same about Shukes, but the change might just be the thing needed to restart his career. Good luck to the lad I say, and he has a very tidy missus.

Talking of goalkeepers, my team Tranmere have taken Luke Daniels on a season long loan from WBA. I belive he had a short spell on loan at Motherwell. He looked decent at Shrewsbuty in the play offs last season. As for Ruddy, I live in Cambridge where he started his career. He seems to be one of those keepers that get's hyped up at an early age but he has found it hard to step up to the next level. He must have been at Everton for 4-5 years and all they ever do is ship out on loan to lower league sides in England, exactly where he came from.
  6. It sounds like Jennings was having his usual high octane game, except for the weight thing. He was arguably the fittest player at Tranmere in the last couple of seasons, and he tackled as hard in the 90th minute as he would in the 1st minute. I'm not sure when your boys were back in training, but Jenno was only due back with Tranmere as he signed for Motherwell. so he was more than likely well behind the rest of your squad in terms of fitness, especially match fitness. You have to remember some of your players had played three competitive games. Jenno hasn't played competitively since the first week of May. As I said on here when he signed, he's more of a workhorse than flair player, and when fit I doubt many will question his commitment. I'd have a small wager he picks up a red card for you's next season because he doesn't hold back. Looking at the brief highlights from the other thread it looked like he got forward in the first half. It looked like it was him hitting the post for the 2nd(?) goal. If he could add goals to his drive he'll be a fans favourite. He's got it in him, but he often failed to pull the trigger for us. Good luck in Romania, hopefully it will be on TV. BTW - Why didn't BBC Alba at least show either Well's or Falkirks games? It can't be that expensive.
  7. Cancel those flights lads. The Albanians are fighting back
  8. Has anyone tried Blue Air from Stansted? €234 to Bucharest and there's £1 flights Prestwick - Stansted with Ryanair. Also Luton is easy. Easyjet from Glasgow. I fly quite often to Scotland, mainly from Stansted.
  9. http://atdhe.net/8033/watch-flamurtari-vs-motherwell This one is working now.
  10. I think most of the sites that you can find live football streams have been mentioned. The best bet is probably Justin or MyP2P but here's one that hasn't got it listed yet but may do later. http://rojadirecta.com/ Many of the links direct you to Justin, but also other streams too. Good luck for the game, I'm hoping to watch it myself, and I hope the fans that have travelled have a great time. There's nothing better than a mad foreign footy game.
  11. How many Well fans have travelled? It looks like a decent turn out, though I haven't seen any Welsh fans yet? And how many hardy souls will go to Albania?
  12. Would someone care to explain how the hell you lost to this mob last week? They're utter pish. Anyway, enjoy your trip to Albania, that should be a laugh.
  13. He was in Liverpool yesterday and is travelling north on Sunday. His interview on local radio from yesterday can be heard here: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=3c9e42a...04e75f6e8ebb871 BTW - He partly explains why the contract is a short one. He wants to test the water and if he likes it he will sign an extended contract if both paries like what they see.
  14. I take it the Sky cameraman remark is some sort on "in" joke. I was at the 3-3 draw with Celtic in 2000. I have a pal who lives in Scotland so get up there every year for a game. I reckon I've been to around 12 grounds of differing standards, from Celtic and Hampden to Dumbarton and Morton. As for Ged, he played in our Masters team last weekend, which we won again. He still looks fit and I think he might still be playing for Vauxhalls on the Wirral. Anyway, back to Jenno. Apparently he's on our local radio station at 6pm. Here's the link. http://www.citytalk.fm/
  15. A view from a Tranmere fan. You've got yourselves a decent player in Steve Jennings. Many of our fans are sorry to see him go, but that's football and his contract, or lack of was a major problem. He played the whole of last season without a contract. By all accounts he was holding out for more money, and I was told he wasn't asking for the earth. I think he was on below average wages because he signed his last contract when he was a fringe player. Under Ronnie Moore he played every game when he was available and wanted to be paid acordingly. Which is fair enough. As for what you're getting on the pitch - A hard working, tough tackling midfielder. His commitment can never be questioned and is not scared of a tackle. He does the dirty work in the middle of the park that often goes un-noticed and allows more creative player to do their stuff. So if you've got a canny lad along side Jenno I'm pretty sure he'll appreciate Jenno''s work rate. He was Players Young Player of the Year a couple of years back and last season was voted Player of the Year by his peers. Some of our fans moaned about him at times because, like I said, he does the dirty and often un-noticed job, but the players in the dressing room certainly appreciated him. He's matured too at his time at Tranmere and would have been good captian material. If there's one slight criticism is he never socred enough goals. He has it in him but when he did get forward he often didn't pull the trigger. Maybe a change of scenery will bring out another side to him. I think it's a good career move for him. I don't really know what the standard of the SPL is outside the Old Firm, but it's obviously higher than the English Third Division, contrary to what some of our fans say on our messageboard. You've had a few ex Rovers players in your recent past. Pat Nevin, Shaun Teale, Tommy Coyne, Ged Brannan, who I saw score on my visit to Fir Park. I wish him all the best and will no doubt keep an eye out for your results next season.
