  1. You are right ML1. Had just come off a night on the sauce when I posted. Back to bed for me.
  2. Both Edinburgh City and the SPFL have this listed for Tuesday August 2 as a home tie for us. Contacted MFC yesterday who suggested the tie remained unconfirmed. Anyone got any update. I`m also assuming the tie will be at FP.
  3. Mabye I have overlooked the substance of the `Laing is out the picture ` suggestion but it looks as though it is nothing more than speculation. Whats the view of others ?
  4. Anyone have an update as I dont think he has featured in any of the pre season games?

    Trialist

Was wondering if the rules allow a trialist like Lucas to be played on Saturday against Rangers?
  6. That time of the year again when an average score from a group of oldies is given to all the players who start a match watched by 4 or more of us. Some games were not marked because we had less than 4 present due often to bad circulation , varicose veins or plain tiredness! Marks were out of 10 for each game. See the scores for what they are and for those who go into perma rage because Mc Manus scores high just chill. At the end of the day its just our collective opinion . 1. Ripley 96. 2. Mc Manus 95. 3. Mc Donald 90. 4. Johnson 86. 5. Lasley 85. 6. Moult 82. 7. Hammell and Law 73. 9. Pearson 55. 10.Kennedy 48. 11. Hall 37. 12 .Ainsworth 36. 13. Cadden 34. 14. Laing 25. 15. Chalmers 22. 16. Jack Leitch 20. 17. Gomis 12. 18. Thomas 10. 19. Fletcher 7. 20 Samson 5. Other players who scored but who left the club during the season; Grimshaw 37. Taylor 8 Clarkson 3. Feel free to pull to pieces.
  7. Anyone think with his goal scoring of late that we should have kept him?
  8. Although not his biggest fan ,Samson was the Scotland 3rd choice goalie last month in Dublin. This suggests that Strachan et al are impressed with him. Just saying like.
  9. Dropped in to watch ICT`s Euro match on Thursday and noticed Jim coming in to the ground with Ian Baraclough. Looked as though it was a `spying ` trip as we play ICT shortly. Was surprised as I thought he didnt have any involvement at the club nowadays. As for ICT although Hughes talked them up and he did try to get them to play the ball on deck , they seriously lack pace and ability . They have in fairness lost players and also have a number of injuries. Motherwell should take something from them . In fact Astra I felt played within themselves and will I am sure win the tie comfortably. Will say though that the young lad Christie is their jewel . Great attitude and carries a high degree of promise. Would love it if we signed him but I suspect way out of our budget .

    Craig Reid

Noticed that he didnt feature in any of the 2 friendlies in Holland. Can anyone confirm that he travelled?
  11. Only a dozen or so guys who have attended for many years. Not affiliated to any group/association . Like an extended `Jack and Victor ` club.
  12. Pity your preconceived view of the Glasgow post need to be dashed but Mc Manus `s nickname throughout football is Mick. As for the scoring the figures are an average taken from 10-12 of us. And yes Mc Manus scores high due to the high amount of games played. By contrast and as an example Hammell scores low because he barely featured. At the end of day it is only our branch`s views and should be seen as such. All that matters is that the `Well succeed.
  13. Here are the marks from the weegies . Marking is 1-10 on the basis of starting matches . No marks for coming on as a sub. Perhaps unfair but there you go-----its our rules ! 1. Mc Manus 122. [ 2nd year on the rot he wins ]. 2. Lasley 121. 3. Law 88. 4. Erwin 78. 5. Twardzik 74. 6. Ainsworth 73. 7. Ramsden 65. 8. Long 60. 9. Sutton 59. 10 O`Brien 55. 11.Mc Donald 53. 12.Johnson 52. 13.Pearson 50. 14. Laing 46. 15. Reid 42. 16. Grant 38. 17. Carsewell 36. 18. Kerr 35. Straker. 35. 20. Hammell 33. 21. Angol 30 22. Vigurs 28 23. Lawson 14 Watt 14. 25. Leitch 10. 26. Ferguson 8 27. Moore 7. 28 Mc Hugh 5 D.Thomas 5 N. Thomas 5. Before he left Ojamma had picked up 47 points. After a season of some unpleasant digs by a lot of fans Mick again wins the weegie award .Yup he had his difficulties but remember he was often the one constant when he had regular changes around him. Also many of these players suffered poor individual form themselves and were often reliant on Mick to keep them right. With the likelihood of better stability in the defence next season who would bet against Mick making it 3 in a row.
  14. I understand that teams can blow hot and cold but what I struggle with is the wild differences in our home and away form. At home we show a lot of drive and purpose and can blow teams away like Accies and SM. Remember also that since losing to Aberdeen earlier in the year we have only lost once and that was to a freak goal against Dundee. When away as per Thistle and SM we appear heavy legged , lacking in confidence and carrying little threat. For what its worth my attempt at an explanation is that the problem may be in their heads . If so mabye they need for the play offs to hire a psychologist to get them in the `zone`. .A psychologist would I am sure get it into their heads that they are capable of again producing the home form away from FP. This could be the difference between having the Play Off still alive after the first leg or left with the tie dead. Or am I deluding myself as the answer quite simply is that average players produce erratic form.
  15. Mate who is a neutral saw Rangers today. He says they are poor down flanks and through the middle . They were very nervy, had little self confidence and were not good under pressure . He said QOS were in fact the better team and could consider themselves unlucky not to progress. Turning to Hibs I saw them at Livingston a few weeks back and felt they were a mirror image of us. Decent from middle to front but shaky at the back with a couple of big units [ Fontaine and Hanlon] who were slow and ponderous. Felt at the time Skippy could have a field day against them . If he is not available I feel the odds would favour Hibs therefore. Of course the mental factors could be the deciding factor between us and Hibs who I think will beat Rangers . In short it would be a match up between us [ the inexplicably insipid ] against Hibs [the infamous bottle merchants]. Whatever , it will be theatre. Finally, for us lets put aside the many misgivings and frustrations we have about the team as now is the time to stand fully behind them . Please dont desert them. We might just get through this and if we do we will be the stronger for it. C`mon the `Well.
  16. Agree there have been many worse performances. If Ramsden ,Hutch and Hammell had played the match would have been much tighter although I suspect Utd would still have done us. What we learn from today [ and its been coming] is that our Goalkeeping options are poor. Perhaps we could give Stewart a chance as what I`ve seen of him suggests he is promising. Midfield is too slow but this could be remedied in January window. By then Faddy may have refound his fitness. Strikers are off form but Moore may be worth starting, Also noted that Erwin scored again. Despite the doom and gloom we remain 4th and our under 20`s are doing well. We will recover and I`m reasonably sure we will be in the mix at the top end come seasons end. On a final note give Utd credit as they looked real impressive. I now understand why Gauld and Soutter are getting rave reports. Forever `Well.
