  1. Who was putting in most of the deliveries? Yeah.

And Morrison for that matter. Not based on his performance yesterday right enough.

Humphrey shouldn't be, and isn't anywhere near the Scotland set up.

This. A good SPL player and causes problems with his pace, but he's just not an international class footballer. Not even close.

Incidentally, who are the 16 players faster than him? Who's number 1? Must be really fcking fast!

  2. Las back in. Keep Forbes in. McHugh and Higdon up front.

Humph and Murph on the bench as the speed merchants.

Not having a go here but.......

    .......are you serious?

I can see why you would bring Lasley back in and play Forbes again. Maybe even why Humphrey should drop to the bench. But are you honestly in favour of benching Murphy, our best prospect of causing Rangers problems, and a good outlet when the pressure is on? Really?

  3. Actually, I think I'd prefer jet lagged and knackered first team players than some enthusiastic reserves looking to make a name for themselves.

Let's keep it tight for the first hour and then bring on our speed merchants in the last 30 mins to finish them off.

Good plan. Except to effect it we would require more than 11 players.

  4. Lost count of the number of times he refers to himself in that article. Incredible ego the man has.

Cannot understand though his comment about not having the desire to build a new team at Motherwell. How many times has Sir Alex built a new team at Old Trafford - or closer to home, how often did Tommy McLean do it? That's why Muttley will never be a top manager.

    Stuart.

Good point. Wonder where Sir Alex Ferguson, sorry Alex Ferguson would be if had adopted that attitude??

Said it before but MM had a great first season, dealt very well with the Phil O'Donnell tragedy and brought in Chris Porter. Otherwise he left an absolute shambles behind cos he wasn't the least bit interested in sorting our players with contract extensions as he knew he was going. He then, for some unfathomable reason, seeks credit for selling Clarkson, Quinn etc. Hero to fud in 12 months.

  5. Further reply . . .

if ever there was anything that was symptomatic of what's wrong in at the SFA - you only have to look at this exchange to see why it's going wrong all over the place.

    3 governing bodies - multiple fair play league tables. . . . . .

They only needed to say "further to Motherwell getting a Europa League slot following their fair play standing . . . . . "

I'm not entering into a slanging match with the guy.

Go on. Reckon it would be a right good laugh :P

  6. Was about to post that about Nish myself. A million miles from being a world beater but a decent SPL striker with a fairly good record against us. With Riordan etc as well I agree that Hibs might have a decent forward line this year. Hope I'm wrong right enough....

  7. BBC Sport now reporting he has signed a 3 year deal. Lets hope he ain't the player Falkirk had a couple of years back - would have liked us to sign him.

Lets hope Mr Gannon comes up trumps with our EPL starlet!

  8. There are many rumours doing the rounds that JG is not well liked by some of the current squad - probably those who are not getting a game?

It appears as if he takes no bullsh#t and reputations count for nothing. That there is some disharmony is hardly surprising given the reputation he came up the road with. Having fallen out with and frozen out players down at Stockport.

Is this not exactly what the Stockport fans who posted on a here a while ago said would happen? Seems to be his way - falls out with some players and back room staff but gets results.

Regardless of any problems they seem to think he is an absolute legend and are gutted he left. I live in hope...

  9. Why the fuck are we included. Might've slipped under the radar but weve already put two teams out of Europe. Plus what other Scottish team has lost two back to back 1st. legs and turned them round all away from home (maybe three) :P

And bollocks tae the 'pub team scenario' you can only beat who you're drawn against.

Glad smellic got beat, but don't think it's a disgrace. McGhee and his shite, that's another matter :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Thats my point exactly. We have been lumped in with the rest of the dross when we really don't deserve it. Think we have lot to be proud of so far.

  10. Then people say (as above) what if clubs budgeted on the new improved deal. My question is show me any club that appears to have significantly strengthened their squad from last season???????? I cannot think of any - maybe DDee Utd. The Well have got rid of the majority of big earners, have taken in an extra £1.2m + any money from the European run.

Exactly. It seems that every club in the SPL, barring maybe shellick, have 'cut their cloth' accordingly. I would be stunned if Boyle had spent Setanta money that we hadn't yet received, given our relatively recent administration. IMHO Boyle has run our club extremely well since we came out of administration (which was only cos he wrote off millions of his own money) and don't think for a second he would put us back in the same position again.

  11. 1-1. Score draw against a team of that quality would be a great result and make up for "scotlands week of Shame" (Copyright Daily Record)

Anyone else reckon Sigma might make aggregate double figures against the sheep?! Now that would be embarrassing.....

  12. Well if this 250k figure is correct, we would basically be making him one of our biggest ever signings in terms of transfer fee.

Bearing in mind John Spencer at £500k is still currently (and probably always will be) our biggest ever signing.

Extremely unlikely, that we could afford such a large figure in today's climate.

Fair comment. But on this occaision it strikes me as a gamble/risk worth taking? The way I see is that if we buy him, even if for up to £250k, then we get a season or 2 with a quality keeper who we can then sell on for a profit. Makes sense?

And besides, Spencer was on silly money on top of the fee and Boyle has apparently been paying Hughes, Malcolm and Porter most of their wages. It all adds up and could, Mr Boyle permitting (!), be a possibility.

  13. Perhaps taking into equation the Setanta demise.. then no we can't.

Not sure I agree. My understanding is that we will get the same amount of TV money this coming season as we did last? It's only that we woun't be getting a good bit more from the improved setanta deal which was due to start this year? No doubt someone will set me straight if I am wrong...

Regardless, with the McGhee/Quinn/Clarkson/Europa league money coming in, and even taking into account the money spent on the pitch, surely we can afford £250K?! Would it not be an investment? If he is as good as everyone says surely we could make a healthy profit a season or 2 down the line.

Will be very pissed off if we let him go in 6 months. Same goes for Slane.

  14. Man he obviously showed some skills..he basicly "made" the 2nd and 3rd goal..no doubt about it the man has some fire in them boots..but have you noticed him the rest of the game?:0..You dont get far against the likes of Europe with a guy like that: no effort in defence..no pace..and likes to pray on young-unz:)

Id like nothing better than to have him confirm and put some heart into the skills he obviouslly has..but he is fairly "old" for football standards..pushing 29..his last team was Skoda Sankti in greece..where they said he was having a "super" game every 1 in 3 and that he was in each and everyone of them "disapearing"" from the fixture due to lack of fitness.

Unfortunately I don't think we will have to worry about getting too far in Europe this season... :(

1 in 3 would do us just fine. As long as its Rangers, Celtic and ...erm ... Aberdeen.

Thought your team were a pleasure to watch at times and taught us a bit of lesson. But we won't give up - see you next week!
