Im not sure how often but I know that there are ferries everyday. I never took that ferry but when I was in Saranda for vacation I remember seeing a 25 euro price for the ticket. From Saranda to Vlora you can take a bus which I don't think costs more than 5 euros. Once you arrive in Saranda you can go to a tourist information center and ask. There might also be mini buses but if you are a group you can also get a taxi. Just make sure it's a licenced taxi
  5. How strong was this Llanelli team?
  6. That 6th spot doesnt belong to them. They got lucky because the other teams were kind of letting their opponents win. Any of the teams below Flamurtari can beat Flamurtari and vice versa. I would say Flamurtari belongs 8th perhaps. Apolonia and Besa are both better than them.
  7. Flamurtari is not a very strong team. They were fighting until the last weeks not to get relegated from the league. As to how they beat KF Tirana in the finals I don't know but they were really lucky. There are also problems with fixed matches in Albania so that might have been a reason. Competing in a European league gets a lot of income for these clubs and exposure of the young players. Apart from their young goalkeeper and maybe Franc Veliu they don't really have players that kind of make a difference on the team. The thing is I don't really know how strong Motherwell is for me to compare the two teams.

a short video around the city http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8C-MMLzUG4 summer depo 5-10 min away from vlora you can also go for the beach here and party at night
  9. Today the coach of Flamurtari was studying a couple of DVD's from Motherwell's matches and also saw the latest match where you guys won 3:0. A couple of players are saying that the Scottish play a strong physical game but that you will not be very comfortable playing in very high temperatures which can be an advantage for Flamurtari. Flamurtari is also looking for two new players because they need one defender and a striker since they lack power up front. Thats all the news from the Flamurtari camp....
  10. I think it all depends on the result of the first leg so I doubt that if Flamurtari gets smashed in Vlora they will travel but I read in a newspaper that some fans were organizing to come perhaps on the team charter. I also believe that there are some Albanians living in Scotland so perhaps those will come as well. I will give you this information after the first leg.
  11. Mate that is nothing to be proud of and say it like an excuse. You could read a bit more about Albania and improve your ignorance about my country. In a way we are all ignorant because I don't know as much about Scotland but I am willing to learn a couple of things.
  12. and the picture is not even in Albania but Prishtina instead

They are good enough for our country.
  15. To tell you the truth mate I am a Tirana fan myself from the capital city. Everytime we travel to their stadium we do cheer and sing and do our own thing even though they swear at us with all kinds of words but no fights have happened for as far as I remember. And they swear at us because we are from the capital city and we've had a long history together. They may have been isolated incidents but nothing serious. I mean yeah the people of Vlora are a little bit more hot blooded than the people in Tirana but I don't think that you won't be able to sing and do your own thing. If you wanna march and sing and wave flags and jerseys I don't think that anything will happen. First of all Vlora is a tourist destination and there are a lot of police around. Second of all they do treat their tourists well because they live off the summer years. You are bringing business to them because you will be staying in a hotel and eating food there etc. Another thing is that Vlora doesn't really have an organized fan club so people who go to the stadium are of small groups (5-6 friends)...If the cops see anyone touching you they'll be spending the night in the station as Albanian police are very strict. One of the owners of Flamurtari is also the mayor of the city and I'm sure if your club tells them that there will be Motherwell fans traveling he'll make sure to reserve a spot for you guys and have a lot of police on hand.

From the north border of Albania that connects Albania and Montenegro it is about a 2 hour drive down to Tirana. From Tirana to Vlore I would say about 2.5 hours drive if you are lucky. The highway is pretty good from the North border to Tirana and then Tirana - Durres is a good highway Durres - Rrogozhine - Lushnje is a good highway. Lushnje - Fier just got build and Fier - Vlore is the only part that is still getting build as we speak. So don't expect 6 lane highways but they are big enough for the population of Albania. Shkoder - Tirane Tirane - Durres Durres - Lushnje Lushnje - Fier
  17. Hmmm Albanians were originally catholic and forced by the turks to convert to islam. Due to communism where all churches and mosques had to be shut down made our people athiest. You will rarely find any religious people in Albania and there is nothing muslim about us.

Hey guys, First of all I would like to greet all of you in this site. I am an Albanian but not a Flamurtari fan but I do follow Albanian football quite a lot. When I read those articles posted by your club I was shocked when I heard words such as "mines, granades, gun ownership, robbery" etc. Perhaps there is another Albania that me as an Albanian has never seen before where these mines are. I travel a lot around Albania and even in mountains and other remote areas and there's never been any danger. Now of course there are guns in Albania, just like there are guns in Paris or Munich or New York City. To be honest I've been more scared when I've been in cities like Paris,New York and London than anywhere in Albania. I would like to invite all of you to visit Albania and I'll tell you that you are not the first fans to come here. Whenever we have international matches and club matches there are always foreign supporters and I don't ever recall any issues apart from against Greece (because of personal conflicts) and once against England in 2001(too much beer for the English lol). Flamurtari does have a lot of fans but nothing really organized so do expect a full house but not a lot of coreography or singing. The only organized fans are mostly of KF Tirana, Partizani and our national team fans which are great. I don't think there will be any trouble between your fans and theirs but of course you guys shouldn't start swearing at their fans in their own stadium. Pretty much just like in any other stadium. To be honest I have never seen Motherwell FC play nor I ever heard of this team until now. As for Flamurtari I think they are a really weak team. The whole season they were kinda fighting for relegation in the league and they have a lot of young unexperienced players. As to how they won the Cup of Albania, I have no idea how lucky they got. I can't really put my finger in any of their players to say that you have to be careful for that guy. They have a very talented young goalkeeper who is just 19 and has been playing in the first team since he was 17. As for the city of Vlora I suggest you guys enjoy it since its a very nice city especially in the summer. There are amazing beaches but the very nice ones are located right outside the city. The girls are breathtaking and the night clubs by the beach are amazing. I don't know if you guys will have enough time but I say enjoy Vlora, drink up and have a good time. Walk around at 3 am if you want I guarantee nothing will happen. Some of the clubs to consider are Summer Depo, Iliria, etc...simply ask around and people will tell you. If you guys don't have much time and just want a nice place to relax and have something to drink I recommend this place called LIRO where I go sometimes. Ask around people will tell you its very close to the stadium, maybe a 10 min drive. So the nice beaches are pretty much just outside of Vlora near Radhime and Orikum which is minutes away...Here are some more pics from Vlora Here is the stadium in the left of the pic...it holds about 9000 fans I think
