AGREED And not for the first time this season.(eg Aberdeen away). I thought Clancy and Hutch might be a better option at central defence but Hutch has`nt been too clever since he came back in.

Higdon is a team player and not one of your "glory" strikers. He would rather pass to a team mate in a better position than have an attempt himself. (This might be because he thinks he can`t score himself so shirks out of the responsibility or, on the other hand, just simply a lack of confidence). At times he is not very pleasant on the eye but it was great to hear the away support giving him vocal support yesterday, even when he missed out on a few good chances, but I`m sure he appreciated the encouragement. On another day he might just have bagged a hatrick. Here`s hoping for next week - its just great to wake up on a Sunday morning and read that the second team have pegged back the league leaders - we can dream on. :notworthy:

Great team performance - could`nt pick out a failure. Only criticism is not converting our many chances, but hey, on previous days we would have conceded a late goal (or goals) Thought Clancy had a very effective game. Well done to everyone, and a special mention to the away support who got right behind the whole team (yes even Humph and Higdon) Keep up the drums and singing :whistling:

[quote name=postiejim' timestamp='1312747164' post ='304883] Great result ,and how shite were Hearts by the way . You`r only as good as the opposition allows you to be , and today `Well gave them a lesson on how to play the beautiful game. :notworthy:

Great team performance today with some excellant individual input. Went finally for Hateley who just shaded Law Thought Saunders looked a little nervous and had a couple of slips but stuck to his task. Randolph, as we now expect, made his customary significant saves at crucial times, but some of his distribution leaves a lot to be desired. Humphries continues to frighten defences and (or is it my imagination) he is managing to put in a number of telling crosses. Lets hope S.McC. continues to get an improvement in these areas because it was great to see his determination and joy being expressed on the park at the end of the game as he encouraged each of his players and acknowledged the support.

He is certainly on the fringe and will just have to keep plugging away, trying to improve his consistancy and strength and stamina as I feel he is too easily brushed aside and needs to toughen up a bit. I felt on Sat (when Levein was watching him) he gave up the chase to easily - the number of times he let Pascali move forward unchallanged was not acceptable and would`nt go unnoticed by Levien .

Randolph had mostly straightforward saves to make, ones you would expect him to make. Bell had to make two outstanding saves to keep out McHugh and Jennings, plus in the first half he should have been picking the ball out of the net from Jamie from 3yds and Hutch`s header fom 6yds. We should have come away with 3 points if we had shown some killer instinct , but overall a draw in , what was a very entertainig game, was not a disaster. i

Law had a good performance showing plenty of skill and flair but I thought on Sat he diid`nt release the ball quick enough and lost us possession on a number of occasions (failing to square to McHugh being the most obvious). I thought Lasley put in a tremendous shift in the midfield on a hot day, and never wasted a ball (unlike his midfield partner Jenno who uncharacteristically could`nt buy a pass all day)

Add another five. We`ll soon be at 6,000 at this electric rate!!!!!!!!!!! Come on ye `Wellllllllllllllllllllllll.

I love the League Cup = goes back a long time to the old Sections at the beginning of each season. Something to look forward to after the summer holidays and it eased us into the new season. But mainly because it was my first visit to the great Hampden Park to see the `Well in the League Cup Final. A great day in the memory of a youngster (did`nt matter a dot that we were humped 4 - 2 by a great Hearts side but it did prepare me for great days out at Hampden with a terrible result to follow) The beauty about following the `Well is that the few successful days are treasured moments and for that reason I will be there on Sunday, cheering on the boys and ......just.....maybe...!!!!!!

Craigen has been a disaster waiting to happen. Not too surprised to hear that Jamie has been subbed. Felt he has been giving the ball away too easily and guilty of trying to do to much instead of playing the simple pass. We must DIG IN!!!

Stuart said on BBC radio the other night that he would`nt be afraid to play young players if they proved to be good enough, but he would try and get a good balance with some experienced players. It was very encouraging to see two forwards staying up on the half-way line as we defended corners on Sat. Changed days from the defend at all costs - so I look forward to some other inventive ideas emerging in the coming weeks. Here`s hoping.

My team . A forward line of Hunter, Reid, St John, Quinn and Weir. (Poetry in motion) I seem to remember Pat Holton playing at left back. Charlie Aitken was one of the best headerers of a football in the world - he would jump and just seem to hang in the air as he flicked his blond hair on the ball to either clear in defence or score on the attack. (a true `Well Legend) Fantastic football played before massive crowds crammed into Fir Park and other stadiums. My heroes but I remember the old codgers of the day saying - "Aye - the`re guid, son, but no as guid as Ferrier and Stevenson" Bring on a new generation of young talent so I can make my comparison!!!!
-
Could`nt agree more. Best wishes to Mark and I hope he continues his development and has a successful career. Always werlcomed back to Fir Park.
-
Don`t need to worry. Blackman has left his shooting boots in the Fir Park locker!!!!! Craig was beginning to show signs of weariness in the last few weeks at Fir Park so we certainly got the best of an "old man" !!!! He could`nt believe that Aberdeen were daft enough to give him a two and half year contract - he`ll be lucky to last a year after the `Dons have a terrible start to the new season in a very competative First Division.!!!!!!!! I WISH

Could`nt agree more. How we start the game will be crucial. Just hope we can be positive and aggressive and get that first goal.
-
Craigen outmuscled by a big dumpling and United score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hope it`s a case of never in the game and then skip up the Tannadice park and nick a winner. Just hope we don`t have a keepers slip like the last time I was up at Tannadice but Randolph seems to be in fine form.
-
Sorry to see him go. I know he does`nt have the sweet left foot of a "Forbes" but always felt that he did the "dirty hard work" job that sometimes goes unnoted by some fans. Best wishes to Mark.

Can`t wait to get into the Dundonians on Sunday. Stuart will have the boys well up for this game and I predict that they will not be able to cope with a rampant Humphrey on one wing and sleek Murphy on the other flank. Just hope Craggs can have a good away day and no daft mistakes that will cost us dearly. Up the `Well.
-
Thought the forwards all put in good performances but Blackman should have played in others on some occasions (typical centre forward - greedy for his goals) so the Humph gets my vote to=day.
-
Great to see "Randy" making a fantastic save at the end to confirm a solid performance. Well done and just the encouragement we needed before a great Europa night on Thurs. Come on ye `Well...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
...."M`well looking comfortable - dose`nt seem a way back for Killie" Hope that`s not the kiss of death!!
-
Glad to see McHugh getting a decent run. Think he is more than capable of snatching a goal.

Just hold out now. No lapse of concentration like last week just before half-time.
