Welcome to 21st Century Scottish Football where new manager discussions still involve the question "Is he a Rangers man?"
Reminds me of when growing up in Hamilton as a Well fan. So many discussions at school were
"so when rangers play Celtic who do you want to win?".....me"neither, I'm a well fan"............."Aye...but if you had to pick one....who would you pick?".....me."neither ....what part of I'm a well fan do you not grasp?"
I know this season has been torture but I am so glad my Dad was a Well fan and had me going to games from 5yrs old.

Yep agree totally. I don't care what club affiliation a person has. We have just had one of our all time appearance holders in charge and look what happened. I was a big McCall fan but never once thought of him as ex rangers . Plus when 10 years old I saw us romp the old division one with Davie Hay (ex. Celtic).
I just want the right appointment

Don't know the reason but Thistle supporting mates have always commented of a dodgy side to his character. Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.
Certainly liked a bet in the bookies off byres road, used to spot him at lunchtime when I was.....emmmm..... putting on a bet!!

Almost beat rangers then sacked?....is there more to this than meets the eye?....is he well bound?

Was suggested on BBC radio Scotland earlier
Lambert with Faddy as assistant.
Yep that would do for me. Can't see it though

Davies seems to fall out with every cub he works for.
To quote his wiki entry;
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he's a regular poster on here.

Evident to me that to move forward the club needs a complete restructure.
From what I am told from those who work there , it is rudderless and has been for some time, lacks direction in both the wider footballing and administrative sense and is full of staff ready to jump ship across the board which we have seen already
My suggestion would be to:
Board
Increase the current board to include 2 additional non exec business heads (with at least 10yrs business experience and not ideally fans to complement
- the chairman
- Three appointed directors
- A well society rep from a newly formed MFC shareholder steering group
This board must hold accountable two newly formed roles
- General manager (accountable for all administrative and commercial roles inc hospitality
- Head of football development ( oversee head of scouting and responsible for footballing contracts and recruitment across the football departments)
Steering group
This group should take action and ask questions directly each month to the two above positions along with the commercial manager, first team manager and stadium manager at monthly meetings. These questions should come from
- a fan representative
- A member of well society
- 2 experienced business figures
- 2 experienced football professionals ie ex player/manager/coach etc
- A board member
Answers and findings should then be presented to the board of directors to action
Overhaul revamp
Scouting
- geographical network of Scouts covering Scotland ie Aberdeen/south Lanarkshire /dumfries and Galloway/Ayrshire
- This should be headed up by head of recruitment who should oversee this network and feed back findings and suggestions on players to the newly formed head of football development post
The club clearly needs a distinction in flows current role and altho he’s responsible for both areas of the club it’s clear that it’s too big a role for 1 person to do efficiently
I have many many other suggestions but I’m not sure anyone outwith Jim McMahon would be interested in listening to 😂
Needless to say I think the whole club needs restructured with a clear 5-10yr vision that we work back from to achieve. Every member of staff in the whole club should be included in understanding their role in achieving this vision and should be held accountable within their own developmental and departmental meetings
A focus on income generation across the board should always be the primary focus and vastly reducing our overheads within both the footballing and operational departments for me is key over the next 12 months without compromising ongoing investment
Well said, a very fair and balanced suggestion

I know it's 3 days away but can I ask everyone going on wed that we get right behind the team and create a great atmosphere?
Yes some of those wage stealers don't deserve it but the xi that start need us behind them and not getting nervy after 10 mins. The only way we are going to get out of this is by gathering momentum and all being together.
I dont think kettlewell is the answer but by jeez we need him to get us a positive result so he deserves our support for even just one game.

I am also not for dropping him but I feel taking the captaincy off Kelly could maybe help him and just let him concentrate on being a goalie . Butcher looks vocal so why not give it to him?
Admittedly there are bigger issues needing addressed but this was one tweak that might help

I think anyone suggesting Jack Ross or Jim Goodwin is off their head. Two managers who this season have lost their respective dressing rooms. We need someone who will command respect and make an instant impact. Easier said than done, I know.
Sometimes managers just have a bad move. Their record at other clubs was decent. Motherwell could be a better fit but who knows

My last words on the Hammell era as its time to move on. Many of us had doubts when he was appointed as a rookie manager, and unfortunately they were realised. The directors also need to review their own decisons over the past year or so, but in a positive way. Maybe changes in governance are required? Stevie Hammell should have been relieved of his duties over a month ago but the directors dithered and delayed and we've effectively lost 5 weeks in our relegation battle. The toxic atmosphere yesterday was entirely avoidable as El Grew suggested a week or so ago.
Anyway we now have Stuart Kettlewell in charge temporarily. I hope we now headhunt a new manager and get the right man in quickly, although that won't be easy. The players too need to step up as well. We, the fans, must do our bit and get behind the club and team. I'd make a plea to get behind the players, especially the younger ones who need encouragement.
As others have said a lot of soul searching now required throughout the club, but we move on.
COYW.
Well said sir. This is a time when we all need to be together, starting with wed night and creating a great atmosphere......until we see the starting xi....lol

did he not get a hard time from the fans when he left for dortmund grizzly ? or am a gettin mixed up
He did get some pelters which I found bonkers. I then remember him getting booed when he returned with Celtic. Leaving us for Dortmund was a no brainer

If Lambert then that for me would be a great move. He has made his money so I dont think wages would be an issue. And if it's a case of him putting himself in shop window(similar to Steve Clarke going to Killie) them only way he gets a bigger job is if he does well with us .
However I doubt we will get him
-
Whoever we get needs time. If we go down we can't blame it on them. They need time to sort out the mess they have been left with.
As fans we need to get right behind them and maybe just maybe we can survive this season
-
What about John Hughes,?
-
I expect a big reaction on Wednesday which I feel is a kick in the teeth for Hammell. No idea if we will win but we shall see
