  1. Fed up with all the football debates, thinktanks, meeting after meeting, doom and gloom. Roll it all up into a live tv show, give them a time limit (we all get deadlines at work and manage?), agree the model, bolt on a live auction for league sponsorship...et voila
  2. Are you on the board? Gambling on current squad to repeat previous success? Wake up, the squad is threadbare and if we get further injuries and suspensions then we will be hard pressed to get credible results and will only get dragged into the pack. Do we really want to be in a position where we are in bottom 6 scrapping it out with kids?
  3. McCall doesn't seem to be the problem...its all about the money
  4. Im sure I heard on talksport that uefa have given the spl £1m to divide between the clubs for celtic making group stage. With wages freed up, 2 euro ties at home with a premium gate....why are we still fannying about with trying to get in a couple of players? Honest to fuck, the reserved approach has cost us a better chance to progress in europe, a chance at faddy, and a decent spl signing. We need answers! The board appear to be gambling that the current squad is good enough for top 6, rather than trying to improve. The clubs reputation is going to take a doing amongst players / agents.
  5. Well said. Better to offer something constructive rather than drawing negativity. The heart of the debate is there is possibly an offer for one of our first team players, who is in final season. Celtic are smart enough to know the value he brings to our team and the potential money that is available from spl placings, cup run etc. How many games is humphrey likely to win us or have an influence on? Further to this...there doesnt appear to be any other interest....so why not bid circa 200k? Seems reasonable unless there was a bidding war
  6. Levante got beat 2-0 away from home tonight. Conceded 2x penalties, got 7 yellows and a red card....need to figure how to upset them like tonight!
  7. No c**t in group stage is going to fear that mob. The 'well fans were positive and done their all to back the team. The board have been pre-occupied on finances (tv money, other commercials) and offered little help to the squad and encourage the fans. Fair enough, we might still be around in 5 years time, but this moment still sucks. Suppose we will be back to hearing the small spl team who punch above their weight cliches again.
  8. When we are able to pass thru teams and penetrate like barcelona, then I'd go for ball on deck all the way. Unfortunately we are not on same level as the bigger teams we have faced in europe, so its definitely worth a look at this lot to see if we get any change out of them using a target man and runners. 90mins to mix it up, so no point getting hung up on a single tactic...see what works / doesnt work and adapt.
  9. Do you not think fundraising efforts are better invested in playing facilities and academy? Play for the jersey and/or the love of the game...the concept is lost
  10. While not a household name, it would require a miracle for us to beat a team playing regularly against the worlds greatest players and teams. We could catch them cold at fir park in the early stages if they are feeling nervous about their first european outing; but unlikely to be intimidated by us. Hopefully we can learn from the last round that if we are gifted with possession for an hour and do nothing with it, then we need to adapt and maybe just launch balls into the box and hope they cant handle an aerial assault.
  11. The national team and the old firm cant compete in europe, and with a squad of 15 we are never going to compete. Its lovely to believe, but was never gonna be.
  12. Last season, clubs were allowed to postpone 1 spl fixture to play friendlies. Was this still allowed this season? Just thinking we could do with having the w/end off after athens...just wondering if there was a card we could have played here
  13. Certainty for Rangers when he becomes available to play; his agent had been trying to manufacture a move there for ages
  14. Hateley is wanting to play midfield, he has always said thats where he wants to be. McCall probably trying to keep him and his pal Mark sweet.

    Bookies

Loved nothing better when I was a wee yin than getting a coupon on with my dad. Thursday was always a chat with the grampa to help him pick his pools coupon and away games would be over the grampas with a placepot on watching the horses with the wireless on listening for the scores.
  16. Clancy left us with great respect, would have been nice to see something of that quality in Jennings departure.
  17. Simon Ramsden being considered http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/9783277.Ramsden_ready_to_grab_Motherwell_chance/?ref=rss
  18. Craigan, Jennings, Forbes, Clancy and other youngsters off the books - not to mention those contracts offered to lasley hollis and hammell were unlikely to be significant increases. Is the club now trying to save more than the reported 200k that was topsliced from the budget?
  19. In my opinion, the addition of Clarkson would be a huge boost. Speaks volumes for the club that yet another of our youth products would want to return (mcfadden and Reynolds have said as much also), not to mention we have retained hammell and lasley. Hateley and Lasley are likely to fill the holding midfielder void of Jennings. Its likely that Murphy and or Humphrey will leave within the next 2 transfer windows, so would rather have Clarkson to take an attacking role than Daley...who we are not going to get rid of.
  20. We have no influence over the votes of 11 other clubs. Those that have spoken thus far are "No to Newco". The Motherwell vote is unlikely to determine the fate of the Newco. This isn't a political campaign. Old firm suck, and we all know. I've said before in a previous thread, our board need to strategise and come up with something else if the current direction/roadmap is financially unfeasible. the best laid schemes of mice and men....
  21. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theofanis_Gekas Sign him
  22. No to newco. Scottish football will evolve. If our board have fears then they should strategize and come up with new plans...just like everyone else will have to. Clubs are in this together, so keep the integrity and let the newco take their place at the bottom of the leagues.
  23. Good point about pre-contract! Was thinking it may be mutually beneficial to see if there is a deal for him now; Jennings benefits as he gets to see what the market is for him, and if the right move is on, he could be released as a free (or for a small fee). Its no secret his long-term future is down south and im sure he is sick to the back teeth of the refs here! With Hughes (if we extend his deal), Carswell, Forbes, and even Hateley coming back to midfield, we have sufficient numbers to cover. We are badly crying out for a goalscorer and release of Jennings wages could do the trick. Jennings was a distraction last summer...is he signing or not. Lets explore the January options....
