Its not just footballers. I'm sure most of us could produce a list, the length of your arm if not longer,  of those who have broken lockdown rules.

Correct but would they appear on the front page of a National newspaper correctly or otherwise. Surprised nobody from Larky chapped the door to sort the problem.

  2. Never ceases to amaze me the logic of footballers, just because training is back, doesn't mean the pandemic is over. Anyway hopefully in 6 months its Done and so is Dunne, as a club we are to benevolent to injured players, he should be away.

  3. Disappointing to wash the story in Public, he's got a new team and contract so just leave it at that. There will be hundreds of people going back to work on a lot less than he was on being asked to take a cut to avoid redundancy, just a poor show. Poster saying big Pete was the same sort of situation but only heard him saying good things (up till now).

Tait has certainly dropped down my ratings, but would never been in my top 10 fullbacks anyway.

OK, I’ll bite. Plenty on here knew, some us don’t air our dirty washing in public thinking it’s the inside scoop - I’m sure there are no prizes given for being first to give some sycophants on here information.

You knew hew haw, Big Pete was offered a new 1 year deal but was looking for 2,coronavirus kicked in and it all went south, that's why we're left with Dunne on a 6 month deal. We don't have to jump in and sign players, they'll be phoning us in a few weeks begging to sign.

Lamie?   Rubbish,  a career with Morton and Livi says it all....nahhhh dont rate him.  ...........Calm doon folks this isn't actually my opinion. I am just predicting what some folk might say as some are good at judging a player before he has kicked a ball.   I think it's a good signing especially if at centre back alongside Declan

If you're referring to my assessment of young Robinson, you don't have to have seen someone play football to form the opinion of nepotism. If the lad comes good certainly I'll give a apology, but if it was a different place of work, ie, local cooncil you would all be on the nepotism bandwagon whether you had seen them at work or not. Just my opinion!!!!

I may have remembered this incorrectly, but I seem to recall Maurice Ross discussing on the podcast some months ago how they try to set up the youth teams to mirror the senior side, so if we play with two wingers in the first team then we have a steady stream of wingers in the youth teams that will hopefully be able to transition seamlessly into the first team when they're ready. This dictates heavily the players that get retained and released each year, and I believe he may also have been bemoaning the lack of attacking/wide players that we had coming through. Again, I may have remembered that wrong.

On paper Robinson has some lower level first team experience, youth international experience, is an attacking player, relatively cheap, and was only available due to another club's financial situation (as someone already highlighted, similar to MacIver who hasn't turned out too bad so far). There's plenty other things in the world to be absolutely raging about right now than the signing of one youth player over another...

    Like what??

Exact same point to the boys last season then regarding Ross MacIver a 20 year old we signed from Ross County after he was released. Maybe have a look and think wait the young lad Robinson has actually played for NI u21s, player a first team game for Oldham as well as going on loan to Crusaders playing a couple games. He is still young and when he came in evidently proved he was worth a contract and better than most already there.
As you can probably see there isn’t  many you could say or pick out he seems ready to step up is there? When you compare them to the likes of Turnbull’s and Campbell’s etc.

And I'm sure Ross County were happy when he popped 1 in their net!!

But you simply don’t know, given you have have never replied to posters asking if you have seen him play you have jumped to a negative conclusion simply based on the manager being his father. Surely you can see how unfair that is.

But I have answered that question!!, in an earlier post. If I'm unfair on him, how unfair is it to the young lads who get punted. I've read the posts about sons of players being good, but how many of the boy's getting punted could be just as good if not better. Double edged sword yes, but there will be people furious that a relation who has progressed well gets punted and he get new contract. Think of the big world you knock yir pan in at work, in comes the gaffer's son and he says sorry no room for you now, you'll b happy not. Surely there's better out there in this climate than the bosses son!!

  9. Gentleman, the point is, young lad's who have been knocking their pan in for the last couple of years will end up on the scrapheap, but they see the gaffer's son  walk in after being released and get an extension. Not only that the club list him in 1st team squad, cmon

Have you actually seen him play or did a pal of yours get punted this season and you're ragin'?

No and No, have you seen him Playing, remember he is being quoted as a 1st team squad member, Really. Just see the reality boys who have played their hearts out are going to be dumped and in steps Harry and gets kept on, Nepotism I tell you Nepotism.

What if he actually deserves a contract simply because he’s done well enough to earn one ?

Aye right, Mr Robinson to Keith and Maurice, " I'm brining in a young lad, let me know what you think, is he good enough for a contract" What's his name boss, eh Harry, he's my son. Now let me think is it answer a) Not good enough or b) He'll do us a turn!!!!!!!!

Yeah, they're both comparable because a nineteen year old who's played a handful of matches is going to be earning the same wage as the club captain.

I'm sure all the younger boys who get released will appreciate your logic, but wait there dad's not the manager.

One, or probably both will be sold the second a bid comes in, with the excuse of "covid". Wouldnt be surprised if the Media team had a begging video set up for Gallagher too! Glad to see the gaffer has his priorities right, offering a new contract for his boy.

Captain for next Season? Probably Donnelly or Carson.

Hartley was offered terms, but they were withdrawn due to the financial situation, its good to see that nepotism is still being adhered to.

Dunne and Gallacheris a good pairing at the back, as good as we can expect really. If both are available.  I think Harttley knows he isnt going to be first pick and will want to play and will expect first team wages.

Cant blame him for that and wish him all the best.

We're a bit over stocked in the middle if O'hara comes in permanent, adding to Turnbull, campbell, Polworth and Donnely. 5 players for three slots if we continue to play with wingers.

Aryibi would be a welcome addition, of we could bring him in I'd  be happy with him and Hylton as starting wideplayers with Watt in the middle.

                         Carson

    Carroll Dunne Gallacher Grimshaw

                   Campbell O'Hara

    Aryibi      Turnbull     Hylton

                      Watt

That team looks good (formatting wise fpt a 4 2 3 1 and on the field) to me.

Dunne is not a good partner, yes he has speed, apparently as he is always injured, but he cannot defend which first and foremost is the job of a defender. We were going knowewhere at the start of the season with him playing and thank god he got injured. I can't for the life of me why the gaffer would even contemplate an new contract in the present situation for him considering his injury record. I hear the captain is leaving and I thank him for his service, but please replace him with someone of the same ilk, somebody who can tackle and not afraid to ge hurt unlike Dunne who has lived of his rapport with fans since he signed.

    Time to go.
