A joint protest with the Green Brigade does not sit well with me at all. They (the Green Brigade) are absolute vermin and deserved to be hosed down with a flame thrower. The fact that they consider themselves victims is laughable and typical of the Celtic mentality. "The Bois" add great atmosphere at Fir Park but this joint display, regardless of the intentions, and a massive own goal in my opinion.

Thought I’d add to this thread to try and alter my viewpoint on all things Motherwell which is at as low an ebb as I can ever remember. 15 months of solid ineptitude on the pitch will do that….Anyway….. All the usual suspects would be in there for me also. The cup final in 1991, the semi-final replay in 1991, semi-final v Hearts in 2005, semi-final v St Johnstone in 2011, play off games v Rangers, last game of the season at Pittodrie, Skippy Sunday, any victory over either of the Old Firm actually. 2 favourite yet possibly slightly less obvious games hold a special place for me though. 2-1 v Aberdeen at Fir Park near the end of season 2007/2008 when victory all but clinched 3rd place and European football for the first time since 1995. I remember the build up to the game, the emotion surrounding everything that had happened with Phil O’Donnell earlier in the season and how it was “meant to be”. I was at absolute fever pitch before the game and they had let kids in for free meaning in was packed. Aberdeen hadn’t been having a great season but had hit a bit of form in the recent weeks so it was far from a forgone conclusion. I don’t remember too much about the game due to the stress: I can scarcely remember wanting to win a game as much as I did that day and when Darren Smith poked home the opener my wee pal at the game later said I had made a noise ”like a dinosaur”!! Aberdeen equalised but we scored a great winner. I remember Hughes crossing it and I looked to see who was in the middle and it was Porter. “He’s not going to miss” and he didn’t. The whole passage seemed to happen in slow motion! I remember Aberdeen hitting the underside of the bar and it bouncing of Craigans knee into Graeme Smiths arms. I don’t want to contemplate how I would’ve felt if that had sneaked in! There was a torrential downpour after the game and I remember dropping to my knees outside the stadium into a river of burst drains, arms in the air, like Andy DuFresne in “The Shawshank Redemption” after he’d crawled through the sewage pipe to escape!! I’m not a religious man, but I’m certain that was Phil sending his approval. The other game that always stands out for me was beating Hearts 3-1 in the Scottish Cup in season 1998/1999. Not long after John Boyle had declared his ambition for Motherwell to be the “third force” in Scottish football and had brought in players like John Spencer, Ged Brannan, Tony Thomas and I think this game was Andy Gorams debut for us also? The results had been a bit inconsistent but I remember feeling that this team had enough quality to go far in the cup. I remember absolute bedlum at Ged Brannans belter of an opener and although Hearts (who were actually cup holders at the time) equalised we played great, were always in control and eventually went ahead through Coyle before Tony Thomas made the game safe. It of course proved to be another false dawn……

The writing was on the wall very early last season and we are no better this season. Why should we be, it's the same fucking players! (more or less). We could have pipped Liverpool to getting Klopp and it wouldn't make any difference. It's the players. We have some of the worst players I've ever seen play for Motherwell and we have them all in the one team at the one time! The scope Barraclough was given was enormous and he practically re-signed the same players that gave us our worst season in decades….then added Robinson and Taylor!!!!
-
I thought that was absolutely horrific today. The continued selection of Law and in the other full back Chalmers we must have the 2 worst full backs in the league. The damning thing is Barraclough watched and worked with Law for 6 months prior to giving him a 2 year deal. Criminal! What's up with Watt? Or even Reid? Johnson was tipped by most to be a real threat this season and looks like he's never played above amateur level. Atrocious. Playing Moult as a left mid/left back is another head scratcher. If he wasn't playing there, then he certainly spent most of the first half there. Pearo took no responsibility and did nothing. The icing on the cake was Laing as a holding midfielder?!?!? Shades of Bob Malcolm from McGhee there. Absolute madness. Unless Lasley was injured?…... Killie and Thistle winning puts the tin lid on a miserable day. If Utd get anything tomorrow we're well on our way to be being bottom of the league by November as I predicted a while ago. There will be no "I told you so" though. It will come as no surprise to everyone to hear me say we are absolutely fucked. Straight down this year folks.
-
That is one fucked up starting 11.
-
Maybe not fair to judge McGhee on Saturday but I'll certainly hold it against him if he plays Law and/or Taylor! They are by no means the only offenders but sadly McManus is apparently undroppable and McDonald certainly doesn't deserve to start either. Could be the footballing equivilant of what Mugwa does to that boy in "The Last of the Mohicans". Hopefully we can at least keep it to less than 3 goals.
-
Seriously?!?!?! That is not good. I remember that run under McGhee. It was fucking chronic. I know that season, disappointing as it was, was a million times better than what we've suffered in the last year but it's that season, his chronic signings and the shambles his career has been since leaving us that bothers me as much as how he may or may not have shafted us when he left the last time. I fail to see how he's the "steady pair of hands" people are claiming he is and that we need at the moment.
-
My comments on here regarding this appointment have been fairly measured I thought. Ah well......
-
That was a pretty terrible press conference. I stopped listening to Barraclough long ago and I don't think I'll even start listening to McGhee!
-
This is my opinion also.
-
Remember when our pitch looked like a ploughed field, but that's all we really had to worry about!!! Memories!
-
Ha ha!! After Inverness on the opening day I was actually cautiously optimistic about the season ahead! My outlook has obviously deteriorated quite considerably since then!
-
There's definitely an element of truth in that for me. For me the whole squad is a mixture of players who are not good enough, not up for it or past it.
-
I would take Faddy at Motherwell before all the afore mentioned imposters.
-
I'm past caring who we get in. He's got such a job on his hands its a lost cause. Fully expect us to be bottom of the league by the time November rolls round, and to stay there!
-
Hopefully Grimshaw and Taylor never see the first team again and are punted back to their clubs in January. If we can find a way to get shot of Robinson that would also be good. I bet we're now regretting securing Skippy for another year and extending Johnsons contract. Signing Law for 2 years was a joke of a decision;that much was clear at the time. Only the rest of this season to tolerate McManus in a Motherwell shirt also. How long is Chalmers deal? Hopefully only for the year.
-
Surprised there hasn't been more if a backlash to that performance yesterday. Is the fan base now so apathetic to the garbage we've been subjected to continually for over a year that we've just been battered into submission?
-
Lasley was playing further forward than Moult at times!! It's not as if we don't have players who can play left mid! Mental from Craigan! The way we played at Inverness on the first game I honestly thought we were going to have a decent season. I'm sure I wasn't the only one. Since then it looks like we're going to be fighting to stay in the league once again as the same mistakes are repeated week after week by the same players and those picking the team.
-
We didn't miss any good chances today. That was 90 minutes of directionless garbage. I'd give pass marks to Moult, Kennedy, and Fletcher. So many players are either not up to it (Law, Chalmers, Grimshaw, Robinson and Johnson for example) not interested (McDonald and McManus for example) or past it (Lasley). There is something rotten in the playing squad right now and it needs someone with balls of steel to eradicate to right now, once again even at this early stage, we're in a dogfight with hardly a single player looking up for it or up to it.
-
Another insipid turgid display of nothingness. Dundee weren't even that good and lost arguably their best 2 players and yet have always looked in control.
-
Law starting and Taylor being even on the bench is disappointing.
-
Before my time but a true Motherwell legend nonetheless. Only time I ever seen him play was in his testimonial when I was very young.
-
If he isn't sacked in the morning it's sheer pig headed arrogance from the board. I'll not be back till he's gone.
-
Who knows what team Barraclough will put out? Does he even know? Does it even matter? It's like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. Pretty sure Taylor will play the 90. 2-0 Morton.
-
The people who hired him are going to have to admit they got it wrong and get him to fuck. The writing is on the wall. We are fucking awful and I have seen nothing to suggest the corner is in sight, let alone about to be turned.
