Id build a crackin brand new 17,000 seater stadium where Fir Park is at the moment, In it there would be 2 big screens and 2 tiers on three sides of the ground. The advert things round the pitch would be those screen things like many other clubs have. The Pitch would be level. A new training ground located at Ravenscraig, with indoor and outdoor astro, medical facilities etc and a new MFC Youth Academy would be Built in Ravenscraig also.
Brownings the bakers would be hired to do the catering on matchdays, who would bring their products from Rugby Park with them, although it wouldnt be called Killie Pie anymore, it would be a 'Well Pie .
I would be offering half price season tickets to all Lanarkshire school kids, mainly to knock the "Im an old firm fan, pure diehard man, love them tae bits, never been tae a game mind yi and cuudnae tell yi who we're playin the morra" attitude outta them, and get them all right into supporting the 'Well, and hopefully many of them will hand this down to their kids as they get older, and yabie do, the fanbase continues to grow
And finally, the remaining cash would be injected into the new manager's budget.

I bought mine the monday before the killie game and it still hasnt arrivred. I was told it would be posted out, I thought it woulda been here by this.
-
I would take Butcher back - but that will never happen unless he loses malpish as an assistant and that will never happen.
Id be happy to see Butcher back at Fir Park, Would he come back though?
-
Funny that, you never see the steward b******s runnin in like that when its the old firm.
It was embarissing, we dont get that treatment at rugby park.
-
Well, I went up and renewed mine today

Thought Airdrie were getting an artificial pitch installed over the summer?
Not that I knew of, but something tells me you could play in the UEFA cup with it, correct me if im wrong though.

Well done and best of luck to him!

Happy birthday 'Well!

This was touched on last season by people 'in the business' as it were, and apparently the amount of soil (and effort) required to make Fir Park level, makes it uneconomical.
Wouldnt they be able to level it from the main stand across though? They'll be diging away down anyway to fit this new undersoil heating so why not just level it while theyre at it?

id hate to see us playing in a lego stadium, if you think about it, the Cooper and South stands havent got much wrong with them, which leaves the main stand nd the east stand. Maybe two new stands could be built in phases, similar to the davie cooper, I think it would look pretty good if they did that. If they did what accies have done and have space underneath the 2 new stands for renting out, it could be an extra source of income for the club as well.
Anyway, i dont think Fir Park is all that bad, look at pittodrie and Tannadice, I wouldnt say they were much better, and I think fir park feels quite enclosed (apart from the big missing section of the main stand) and can have a good atmosphere on a good day.
Only think that annoys me is the sloping pitch, hope to god that changes when theyre sorting it this summer!

Main stand at Parkhead is definately not listed! The facade is red facing brick of around 80's/early 90's!
As for our main stand, cant see it being listed! Highbury was listed, and was one of the reasons they had to move to their new stad.
Just read up on it, turns out celtics main stand is listed however the facade isnt.
As for our main stand, wouldnt it be cheaper in the long run to rip it down? Surley they would have to do something about the wooden flooring as well as the fireproofing, then all the costs of maintaining it in the long run...
A new stand would be a better option, as they would be able to include things like a sports bar (like what killie have done), office space that can be rented out etc etc, which would boost the income for the club
-
I don't think the main stand is a listed building mate? And if it was, it's only bound to be a low class. So they could still completely re-develop the stand but maintain the frontage.
As far as I know though, the only listed buildings in scottish football is the main stand frontage at Ibrox
I dont think the main stand is a listed building either and Youre right about Ibrox's main stand and Im sure ive read that the parkead main stand is a listed building as well. Hopefully a new main stand would be pretty similar in design to thed davie cooper stand, then at least half the ground would match .
-
Yep, ive heard about the new stand before, the club have been talking about it for a while, its either that or spend fortunes on renovating it to bring the main stand uptoo scratch, which would involve fireproofing it also.
-
The Davie Cooper can have a pretty good atmosphere when Well Well Super Well fires up. The main stand never has much of an atmosphere

am in the only person who cant see the writing in the op?
Nope, I cant either

Great news, glad they've finally listened to us, hated havin the scum in ma seat.

Ewan Camerons got a cheek to talk about any club.
Look at Hearts, complete joke of a club. Theyve got a complete nutter in charge over there and who knows whats going on is another story.
Anyone remember a few years ago when hearts were ready to shut nd sell Swinecastle and move to Murrayfield??
As for our pitch, these guys are "proffessional footballers" they should be able to play on surfaces worse than that, and it has been said earlier that all those years ago teams played on pitches "up to their knees in mud".
And why is he campaining for a points dedcution? Why should the team suffer because the pitch isnt exactly in good nick?
Finally....would the media shut the f**k up about the pitch, we all know its rubbish and appalling, everyone does, so why blummin mention it in every article Motherwell related??
Hope your readin this Ewan Cameron, give it a break

cooper and the main stand is fine, east is fine pending on where your sitting. no working pa system in the south stand at all.
-
I really couldn't see that happening
Me neither, that was how it was explained to me, i only said that as its what I was told by someone from the club as part of the reason why a move to Ravenscraig was less likely now.
-
I dont think we will leave Fir Park. From what I heard, a new stadium at Ravenscraig would be part owned with the council, however Motherwell FC would be expected to cover most of the costs, yet at the same time the council want the main say on what happens in the stadium, eg say we're playing celtic next week at a stadium in Ravenscraig, the council would be able to turn round and tell us no, its being used for some other event. It would also mean other clubs renting it out, and other sports being played on the pitch, ruining it, which has been an issue over in Falkirk Stadium.
I have heard that what we are most likely to see is a new main stand built at FP and the stadium modernised, facilities improved etc, and the South Stand and the Davie Cooper Stands will be kept, not sure about the East Stand however.
Hopefully the club will let us know soon whats going to be happening, as they've been in discussions apparantley.

Those are some cracking pictures Cosmo. In regards to the stadium its always struck me as a waste of resources that Fir Park will have a gym and five a side pitches that aren't available to the public. I've heard they exist anyway, i've never actually seen them. In this day and age expanding your stadium to include a bigger gym for public use and renting out other facilities would surely be a good source of income. Can you even book the astroturf park when its not being used?
The five aside pitches are just as you go into the South stand, the gym is also in the south stand.

AFAIK they have sold over 1150 tickets for this game on saturday
it said so on teh site?
Love Street only holds 10,800 though...so summins went wrong

Done, and best of luck with your project.

Well a new stadium/redevelopment of Fir Park is on the board's agenda - JB made it clear the board were looking at proposals.
Ravenscraig perharps? I dont want to leave Fir Park, I'd rather see it refurbished, and in that I mean the Main Stand and the East Stand rebuilt and replaced by stands similar in design to the Davie Cooper, so it all matches, that im my mind would by ideal fo us, with a capacity of 12,000 and it wouldnt be embarissing as we would have three matching stands and no big gaps or slogans on roofs etc.
However, I made a concept stadium on Google SketchUp, and it consisted of four stands the same as the current south stand...im trying to figure out how to upload the pictures.
Anyone else got any ideas?
