  1. even in times of dire need through lack of available players, we'd maybe play them to their individual strengths , one gets reviews for being particularly strong going forward and one has made a pretty solid career out of staying back most of the time with it having not really worked out the time he was tried in midfield
  2. I cannae be bothered diggin it all out but we have progressed in Europe we've played what in effect is a round further advanced in competition every campaign of the last three at least
  3. and we did for the next 15-20 minutes played half decent, which they mopped up due the the inadequacies that have been mentioned, Murph wrong footed and doubled up, Hammell not getting beyond him, our midfield being out numbered and unable to pick out any killer forward movement due to be closed down etc. or being able to overlap Higdon holding the ball up so that left around a quarter of the match and thats the section that disappoints me, as I think the changes couldve been better, but with some realism that we dont really have the resources to effect changes that turnaround matches
  4. yeah the flowers were presented in memory of Phil the boo's just embarassing, jeez we used to huddle at the start of the match, just shows how hung up some are about sellick
  5. no but from your posts here and elsewhere you seem to have some knowledge of the spanish game, and you seem deeply offended that anyone thinks Levante are even a half decent side. so surprisingly maybe I thought your opinion amidst all this mentality may count Levante may not be a good Spanish side, but as many comparisons have already been speculated on and considering they have resources at least ten times we have, if you think they'll finish 17th, where do you think Motherwell would finish PS I'd agree that the performance is more depressing than the result, but I think we tried to get a scoreline that ended Levante nil and it didnt work, and thus the performance looked so bad from not at least 'having a go'
  6. and just to try and understand where this comparison is relevant can you make one of your educated guesses as to where Motherwell would finish in La Liga with only around 10% of Levantes resources?
  7. sign into MFCtv and you'll get his post match interview
  8. Agree with everything apart from Hump wasnt our best (not bad but not best) and the diving Muzz, as you say the ref was good he didnt allow for any significant amount of that, he even booked one early for trying to get our player booked, the feigning injury and time wasting yes the were at it, and going down easily when only lightly nudged etc yeah (suppose that might be your diving?) but didnt relate to any amount of actual diving in my book on reflection after half a nights sleep, I still cant believe the team are getting slaughtered for a first half performance as being worst ever performance and not up to the Pana performance etc, when to me it was clear they were under instruction, to keep it tight hold lines and not chase out and risk free kicks, not commit fully up the park and risk being left open etc sure it was awful to watch, but the team were only a couple minutes away from achieving that first half goal, hard to say what then would have happened but 0-0 in the first leg would have been one of our best ever european results, shite to watch but a good result going into the second leg sadly the mistake gave them the goal, and makes the first 42 minutes look like a waste of time for everyone. after that the basic mistakes have been well covered, Murphy on left up against two or three, Hammell never venturing beyond him, only two in midfield against stronger opposition, high ball against stronger opposition, Fullbacks sleeping on the job, only really creating two/three chances on goal
  9. Assistants dont normally flag until the player who is in an offside position goes to play the ball, so yes it is played in SPL at the game I never questioned it, was raging Hately and co never challenged the fella who came from onside to play the ball and score although plenty around me in the Cooper were screaming blue murder so I really need to see it

I'm almost going to agree with MJC (shoot me now) whilst my view isnt quite as extreme , I do think someone needs to have a word, perhaps a senior player or a coach or even the manager we've all seen his capability, I'm now noticing more problems than benefits in his performances He's still capable and does some good work and he tends to put in a what looks like a shift, and I'm not blaming him in any way for tonights result, but since his return from international duty in the summer there has certainly been a change in his attitude on the park
  11. I doff my cap I'm typing valencia into travel sites a bit too much right now
  12. I think I remember it, an enjoyable game maybe, where neither team were particularly superior but quite evenly matched and both trying to attack and score unlike tonight where we tried not to lose a goal first and foremost, making it a shite game to watch and maybe made both teams look worse than an average SPL side in fact most ST Mirren games I remember are woeful because ST Mirren setup to not to lose and we struggle to score, making us look worse against them than other SPL clubs
  13. Can't quite believe I'm reading that St Mirren are better than Valencia Levante UD I can't really judge Valencia Levante as I've seen them once, they didnt exactly look fantastic, but then Motherwell were set up to kill the game tonight, not by player selection but by tactics employed, perhaps if Motherwell had played a wide open game with fullbacks attacking then Valencia Levante would've looked better and scored more? but that'll be speculation on my part I'd speculate that 4 or 5 of their players would waltz into our first team maybe even go as far as 7 or 8 if St Mirren looked better once, I'll bet Motherwell were hell of a lot worse that night edit: for the quite glaring error
  14. I was pleasantly surprised to see we were actually playing differently in the first half It seemed to be all about, not losing that killer away goal in a two legged tie Defence were holding a line, not being dragged forward to make silly challenges that have cost us Midfield were holding a line when defending seemed to me, whilst with hindsight it perhaps was too respectful, that if Hately and co hadnt made a massive mistake letting us go in a 0-0 at H/T, a quarter of the way through the two legged tie would have been seen as reasonably successful as it stands I still view the first half with the exception of the one huge mistake. as reasonable, not enjoyable to watch, but as part of a two leg competition, I can accept that it was worth trying now I think that the second half things should have changed and to be honest there was a spell when it looked like it was going to work, although we were screaming out for a midfielder not only to aide the attack but stop every failed attack turning into a run in on Randolph very surprised Murphy never got switched to the right when Hump went off, even more surprised when Law went off when I thought we needed mobility and that extra midfielder and would have sacrificed Higdon having now seen Valencia the only telling difference they have is composure in front of goal, it would still be an achievment to match them or beat them I just hope McCall sets us up to be mobile fast and has a real go at them in Valencia Hearts and Utd have more attacking players that are physically superior and hell of a lot more mobile than we have , I agree they would have went for the jugular right away and succeeded , thats how they play especially Utd as its their real strength and thats also how they can be unlocked
  15. That's it earplugs for next game It's rank , some rap crap over axel F, Let's hope the PA breaks down
  16. Feel there has been a distinct lack of build up to this one hardly anything that Ive seen from the club promoting it (i mightve missed it) and the media all focussed on the battle of britain just getting ready to head out and pick up the wee fella, who is fairly excited about it and raring to go having spotted a wellfan in coatbridge on his walk home from school 2-0 Motherwell Cummins and Murphy 7,152
  17. too right we have to shock them on their euro debut Big Erwin will not be doing it though, he's in Norway on Scotland duty for the U19 game this evening
  18. Im sure bbc Sportsound online advertised they have an online feed
  19. their friendship scarves half blue-half amber our club shop scarves half red/wine- half amber
  20. be nice if enough fans could set up a Direct Debit to raise the funds needed for us to be an SPL club still quite a way off that target, before we start signing up players the club cant afford
  21. EDIT: I tend to agree its too early in the window for Faddy to sign short term for us, he has to give it the full window to see what transpires, I have no doubt that he would have played for us if the SPL rules allowed Trialists McCall said quite specifically it was a financial issue in todays press conference some of which I've tried to convey below: spoke to James on Friday good football chat and he was open James spoke to higher people, outcome not favourable back in training money side didnt add up MFCtv well worth a few quid a month todays press conference no signings before tomorrow, be nice to get before next thursday up top and wide areas we're as strong as we are certainly need a centre midfielder board we willing to stump up an amount for James and its not been enough He's in training again Dont think they'll be anything else done was only until the next window saying that we have lads like McHugh who done really well and it was hard to leave him out on Saturday
  22. is it not, you have to be a free agent whilst the transfer window is still open , hence clubs release players as its about to close not a few weeks after it closes
  23. they announced their squad, adding Gekas as they one player change training at Fir park tonight at 630, press conference just before and staying at the Radisson Blu in town
