  1. Changed days from when the only time we could win a TV game was when it was on Alba! Fantastic show, little nervy at times after they scored but overall back-to-front sold. All we need to do is simply match Inverness points-wise. We deserve second, no-one can argue with that.

  2. Limerick FC have confirmed that Belgian striker Axel Bossekota will join the club ahead of the new Airtricity League Premier Division season.

The 23-year-old has impressed on trial with Limerick during the last couple of weeks and scored a cracker of a goal against Cobh Ramblers last week.

Bossekota joins Limerick after a period playing with Motherwell in Scotland and Stuart Taylor thinks he will cause Airtricity League defences some concerns this season.

“He’s a very forward thinking player,” said Taylor. “(He’s) very athletic and I know he’ll bring a lot to the team. He can play wide or through the middle, is a very exciting player and we look forward to seeing him in action come the league kick off in March.”

As well as a spell with Motherwell, Bossekota played in the Belgian second division and also in Cyprus. He’s Limerick latest signing ahead of the new season after they have already confirmed the capture of Stephen Folan, Craig Burns, Craig Curran, Robbie Williams and Danny Galbraith.

Limerick kick off their season at home to Cork City on Sunday, March 10 - a game that is live on RTE.

The first team travel to Scotland this weekend for a pre-season tour where they will play friendlies against Dundee Utd and Hibernian.

  3. I used to be home and away, every single friendly etc for a number of years but, like Andy says, other priorities take hold and you simply cannot do it anymore. I still get disappointed at missing even a single match but am glad to at least only be missing away games.

  4. Our last three games were home to Dundee United, away to Raith Rovers, home to Saint Johnstone. The latter two in the basement, the first a team we'd already beaten at Tannadice just a couple of months before for the first time since the mid-70s. Six points would've won us the league. In the end we got only one, and it all started with that United game. We were flying up until that night on a 10-match unbeaten run. Saint Johnstone only won 10 games that season - three of them against Motherwell!!

Rangers last five games included 3 defeats and 2 draws. We were that close, which is why it hurts me more than any other result!

  5. Motherwell 1 Dundee Utd 2, 3 games to end of season 1993-94, Hibs beating Rangers and we could have drawn level at the top of the table with 2 games left. Reckon they'd have shit themselves.

D'ya know, before I even opened this thread, that's the one result which leapt to my mind. Still have nightmares about that one, sure big Sieb does as well.........

  6. Fox in the Box off to Malta........

Francis Jeffers opens talks over move to Malta's Floriana

Former Arsenal and Everton striker Francis Jeffers is in talks with Maltese Premier League club Floriana.

Jeffers, 31, was at Australian club Newcastle Jets last season but has opened discussions with Floriana, who also hope to sign former Fulham keeper Tony Warner, 38.

    Who are Floriana?

    • 25-times champions of Malta.
    • In 2012 Floriana signed a partnership agreement with British investor Stephen Vaughan.
    • Lost 12-0 on aggregate to Sweden's Elfsborg in the Europa League qualifying round, with the second leg in Malta attracting a crowd of just 266.

"We hope to finalise all contract terms before the eagerly anticipated derby against Valletta on 20 October," said a statement on Floriana's website.

Floriana are seventh in the table.

Jeffers started his career at Everton before completing a £10m move to Arsenal in 2001.

His career has also taken him to Charlton, Blackburn, Sheffield Wednesday, Newcastle Jets and Motherwell.

In addition, Jeffers has had loan spells back at Everton, Rangers and Ipswich. He made one appearance for England, scoring as a substitute in a 3-1 defeat to Australia at Upton Park in 2003.

  7. i dont actually think this is possible - someone in the building industry or with more savvy than me may be able to provide more light, but with the school directly behind the East Stand - i just dont think it would be possible.

as much i wouldnt be happy with that either - if that was the only way to see my team, its what i'd need to do

So the South Stand hold 4856, so all Motherwell fans could easily fit into the South Stand and offer the Cooper to away fans???? (i'm presuming this would not be a popular choice???)

We were able to build the South Stand despite Firtrees Nursery and the school being directly behind it so I'd think it'd be possible. Just ruddy expensive.

  8. Redevelopment isn't really an option, is it? Unless someone ends up paying £4-5,000,000 cash for one of our players, we simply will never have the money to do it. For me, it'd be the best option. Demolishing the East and the PoD one at a time and rebuilding would give us a tidy wee ground, really. Something similar to Accies at where the PoD is, with office space built in to rent and gain cash from would be ideal, with boxes at the back of the stand.

Realistically, selling up Fir Park and hoping for a council or government partnership/redevelopment area/supermarket buy out is the only real option though, I would've thought. Given that St. Mirren's new stadium, which is unfortunately, the sort of thing we'd be aiming for, was budgetted at around £8,000,000, we would not be able to do it alone.

Would hate to leave Fir Park. I do know Sainsbury's are apprently looking at alternative sites though.

  9. Blame can certainly not be attached to Motherwell FC if Scottish Power have powered down the grid, but surely to fuck Motherwell should have known about the potential for it to happen? If not, then Scottish Power should be reimbursing MFC for the inconvenience.

MJC is right about one thing though, Fir Park is a shit hole and sooner rather than later the POD and East stands won't have a safety certificate in place leaving only the Cooper and South Stands open. That's unless MFC spend millions of £££ redeveloping the two of them of course...

The College is just three years old and it had no power either on Saturday.

  10. There's no need to be so rude and crass.

I just find it concerning that we have had yet another game called off due to an issue with the stadium. Maybe I am barking up completely the wrong tree but I think it's a worry that it's happened again, less than a year since we last had a match called off for an issue with the stadium.

FFS, what part of wasn't the club's fault today don't you get????

  11. That's a far better Aberdeen team than in years. Aye, we shouldn't have let a 3-1 lead slip that late, but shit happens, bigger picture time when stuff like this occurs. Playing some really good stuff, scoring goals, top of the league and the only unbeaten side in the SPL.
