Kinda thought this was simply not on before January.............. McGhee list for Dons window shopping aberdeen manager has options for january sales By Michael Gannon Published: 05/12/2009 Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee is weighing up several signing options ahead of the opening of the transfer window in just over three weeks’ time. The Dons manager has made a formal approach to Motherwell to speak to winger Jim O’Brien, who is out of contract in the summer. McGhee has also invited Derry City midfielder Ruairdhi Higgins back for further trials and he is also considering the next move regarding Nigerian international Paul Obiefule following two days of talks at Pittodrie. Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Miller, whom McGhee was keen to sign for Motherwell two seasons ago, has also come into consideration following the 33-year-old’s release from Australian side Brisbane Roar. McGhee said: “We have approached Motherwell to speak to Jim O’Brien but we haven’t heard back from them. I haven’t made a decision on Higgins yet. “He is a good footballer in the purist sense but we have not seen him in a game. “If he’s prepared, we’ll ask him to come back. “We’ve seen enough to know that we should have a closer look at him. “Obiefule is a player we’ve been aware of since the summer. “We have more work to do before we do anything more about him but he’s away recuperating from his injury. “There’s time. “We are considering lots of options. “But it depends on if they are better than the players we have got or the ones we are looking at.” Read more: http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.a...=#ixzz0YoTQWIPg
  2. The Under 19s sadly lost again today....... Hamilton hit U19 summit Hamilton this afternoon moved to the top of the Clydesdale Bank U19 League with a 2-1 victory over Motherwell at New Southcroft Park. John Sullivan netted for Accies after just 37 seconds but Motherwell's leading scorer Steven Lawless equalised for the visitors as half-time approached. Lee Kilday hit the winner 12 minutes into the second half to lift Hamilton a point clear of Celtic and Dundee United. That was the only game Clydesdale Bank U19 League game scheduled to be played this weekend, with several SPL clubs involved in SFA Youth Cup action.
  3. PC cut out before the end of the clip and I couldn't get it restarted, however, when I did of course I saw it was him...... Anyway, here's one of Simo scoring a pen just last year.......... Simo
  4. Exactly right. The linesman was bang in line and had he taken his head outa his erse for a second he'd have seen what the rest of us did, and TV proved
  5. The more you watch it, the more Bauben deserved what he got. Lucky not to be double yellow-carded for his initial offence, especially for the wild show of dissent, his second card was for a tackle from the back. One FIFA deem a yellow-card offence. Myrie-Williams should definetly have gone for that piece of thuggery on Coke which Mugger Malcolm would've been proud of, and Swanson was an hour-and-a-half late with his challenge. I don't think the Ref will overturn that, had he connected properly with Lasley he'd be plastered to both knees this morning. They could've, and should've, ended the game with just 8 men.

    Cup Draw

Feck it, if you want to win the Cup, you gotta beat what's in front of you. And why can't we win up there, great record over the years and we surely won't be as slack as we were in the League Cup.
  7. Just after play restarted, wasn't it him who was halved in two but there was no free kick on our 18? So incensed was Mr Paton he was sent to the stand........
  8. Derry City players are now free agents because of the club's expulsion from the League of Ireland. Kenny stated that he thought it would be a "great opportunity" for O'Brien who signed for Derry City before the beginning of the 2009 season. "Ger has attracted attention from Motherwell," said Kenny. "It's a great opportunity for him but I think that he is waiting to find out about their financial situation before signing anything. At the minute I think that they are only able to offer him a deal until the end of the season but understandably he is holding out for something longer."

    Cup Draw

Why can't they have the draw the way it used to be. Pick a Third Round tie venue, and have the draw there at 5pm. Used to enjoy, if we were at home, going into the Cooper to crowd round the Telly and watch the draw live.
  10. This interview is quite funny. You have to listen to right at the end when their Manager lets slip who is tracking Connerton before quickly trying to cover it up.... Radio
  11. That's the one I meant......................Ach, ye konw what I mean! Mebbes should read it a bit better in future!
  12. What about the last-minute save their keeper made to deny Las?

    Keith Lasley

Have to agree. Thought Las did very well indeed when he came on, and looked like he'd never been away. Good showing.
  14. Refere was an absolute arse today. Was looking forward to hearing what Jim had to say on this idiot.

    Dundee Utd

Gave it to Sutts, thought he ran his absolute guts out and scored a fine goal.
  16. Biggest problem is he's told to push way up the park and nobody falls back to cover from him. Makes Yassin look far, far worse than he actually is. And he's not so bad in my opinion.
  17. Aye, it's frustrating, but if I'd been told back in June that we'd be were we are now albiet with plenty of frustrating matches you'd have bitten their hands off. We need to turn draws into defeats, defiently, but FFS booing the team off won't achieve anything at all. Pretty sure they'd be as frustrated as the rest of us. A very fortuitous piece of goalkeeping stopped us getting a last-minute winner today but look at the positives. Unted have been getting praises from all over, yet today you'd think we were the team who'd the oustanding season so far. That move, the one which was wrongly flagged for off-side, was brilliant stuff. Our two goals well taken, and you just knew that United would get another chance. Even with 10 men, they are a good side and attack well. Disappointing aspect of it for me was we were caught chasing up the park at 2-1 up, unnecessary and dangerous against a side which I said during the week relies on the break. I know turning some draws into wins would've made a huge difference, but then, after 13 games, anyone else think we'd be just 7 points off the top of the table? Or beaten just the once in the league? Work to be done, errors to erase, things to learn from. Bigger picture.

    Cup Draw

That'd probably be scarier than going to Fenerbache...........!
  19. I was thinking more Levein v Hogg...............
  20. Win as a team, lose as a team. Nothing worse than watching some of your own players fighting amongst themselves after losing a goal. Anything that works for team morale is fine I'd say.
  21. According to the offishel SPL site, Sky is Aberdeen v Rangers. VT Vision is Celtic v Saint Mirrne, and BBC Alba is Hibs v Falkirk. Can't find any mention of our game anywhere. There's no Gaelic word for Hibernian, though the one for Falkirk looks a tad strange.... Hibernian v An Eaglais Bhreac

  23. JG speaks....... Motherwell boss Jim Gannon looks to keep loan star trio at Fir Park Nov 27 2009 Anthony Haggerty Jim Gannon has started talks aimed at keeping all three of his loan signings at Motherwell until the end of the season. Everton striker Lucas Jutkiewicz, Goodison keeper John Ruddy and Charlton defender Yassin Moutaoukil are due to go back to England in January but Gannon wants them to stay longer. He has left messages with Everton boss Davie Moyes regarding his pair and has spoken with Moutaoukil's agent. Fir Park boss Gannon said: "All three have done brilliantly since coming here. "We want to start dialogue about extending their deals over the next couple of weeks. "They are delighted with how things have gone and if there is no other opportunity out there for them I am sure they will all be happy to stay." Motherwell play host to Dundee United tomorrow and Gannon will meet up again with Jon Daly, his former Stockport team-mate. Daly scored in United's 2-1 home win over Celtic last week and Well will be acutely aware of the threat he and his United colleagues pose at set-pieces. Gannon said: "United have a strong physical presence and a hard-working midfield and forward line. "I was in the Stockport team when Jon made his debut. We had an influx of Irish players and as the senior Irishman I gave them a warm welcome. "Jon was an exceptional prospect in his younger days and I am delighted to see him back in action and scoring a trademark goal against Celtic. "He has the potential still to be a top player."
  24. Interesting snippets those. With the transfer window open in just 7 weeks time (or so) going to start to get interesting
