  1. Injuries? Hadn't appreciated that. He was highly rated at Aberdeen which is entirely what I'm basing it on!
  2. Grr. Fyvie have been a good one and a bit of a coup if that had ever come to anything. So chances are it's Thomas and the other guy from Plymouth then?
  3. Perhaps in the absence of any substantial attacking threat, we're planning on drawing every game between now and May. Would that keep us up?
  4. I hadn't seen that we were after Marvin Morgan. Although at least it does show that we're actively looking for a striker...
  5. Ultimately, does it matter where they've come from? Some of our more successful signings in recent years haven't exactly sounded inspiring (Humphrey? Skippy?) if we're purely basing it on their previous club. Fucking laughable attitude.
  6. Saw this on that well known source of accuracy, Twitter... Edit: Can't post the link! Anyway, Brighton possibly in for Erwin, was the gist of it...
  7. Pearson will sit far more centrally this time round I reckon. In his first spell he linked up well with Faddy and Hammell on the left, but I can see Straker taking the left wing slot primarily. A new keeper is a good shout, surely we can't be keeping three first team spots though, so Gunnar must be off? Hope the Ainsworth rumour comes true too, providing we have enough time to bring in someone else to fill the gap in the squad...
  8. Can Thomas play on the right? Scope to drop Ainsworth?
  9. Wiki suggests that Straker is primarily a winger but was formerly a left back...sounds light a good shout as we've not had a proper left sided attacker since Murph left (not including Faddy!). Roll on the tractor!
  10. You never know, he could well be a result of his previous job.
  11. There is that minor hitch of having less cash than I raked out from between the cushions on my couch last night, however.
  12. Was just about to post something similar! Could certainly do a job for us, but I'd imagine his wages would be a stumbling block. That said, if he's being pushed out the door at Tannadice over the Zaluska incident, then he may be looking for a quick fix. Can imagine a few clubs will be after him however.
  13. Jennings completes a move to Tranmere. Not that we would have had a chance in hell of getting him back, but would have been ideal!
  14. Here's another wee story about that (last paragraph): http://www.bt.com.bn/sports-national/2014/11/16/dpmm-fc-court-former-celtic-striker-mccourt
  15. I suppose the biggest question is exactly how we're going to fund a move for him? Unless we've found some cash down the back of the couch, or if there are clubs lined up to take a couple of folk off our hands, are we to assume that Ojamaa is away? It does seem however that Morecambe are in a fair bit of financial trouble, so perhaps they'd just be wanting the wages off their books.
  16. Hear hear. Nothing wrong with that unusual concept of playing players in their natural positions!
  17. Were we not (allegedly) interested in Taylor-Sinclair before he left Thistle? In any case, I'd imagine he'd be a bit out of our league now, wages wise. That said, I'm all for Watt being given a chance to show what he can do. A lot of pressure on him perhaps, but we need to see what the younger members of the squad can do considering the usual suspects haven't set the heather on fire.
  18. I suspect that's probably quite accurate. The board (although it's different personalities) will no doubt have felt obliged to speak to him given his previous connection with the club. He's also, from a media viewpoint, the most high profile of the SPFL folk in the frame, so no wonder he was being touted so much.
  19. Front page story in the Herald's sport section has Butcher in the frame. Funnily enough, no new quotes or information to speak of. They may just have copied and pasted posts from here but I can't be certain...
  20. Has he not been manager of two or three sides in Holland, and a couple in Belarus? And Mitch being out the game for a bit isn't an issue, still makes him a better shout than either of the two Kennys.
  21. Butcher was the ideal man for us in the situation we found ourselves in at the time. With a team full of teenagers, we needed someone who was able to fire the side up when it mattered, and we were fortunate enough to have the likes of Faddy and Pearson coming through at that time. He never struck me as a manager who had a great deal of tactical nous but he was able to get us playing fairly coherently (and with a bit of bite). He may well suit what we need again just now, but I would far rather see someone in who could reshape our ethos a bit into something more forward thinking - that extends far further than just the manager, however.
  22. Did Flow not confirm they were interviewing at the start of next week too? Bit strange to make an announcement before you've spoken to everyone on the shortlist?
