  1. talking to a number of people over the weekend and it seems we could out number the well fans. :O

Hay mate dont get disheartened. There may well be a decent crowd at this game providing motherwell fc actually tell the people of lanarkshire there's a game on. A wee bit of advertising in the papers and a few posters would bring a fair number to the game in my opinion.

Something needs to be done anyway. There's nothing more embarrassing than having a full south stand and the rest of the stadium being empty.

  2. I was expecting them to be snapping at Celtics heels, closing them down and not giving them a second on the ball.

Instead some of the players looked like they were playing st Johnston on a rainy wednesday evening.

When i saw the highlights i couldn't believe how some of them reacted when they lost the ball. gunning for example thought it was funny most of the time.

I hate criticizing the players but the truth is the truth and there's no escaping it.

  3. So what's the point in Everton, Wigan, Bolton etc. preparing for Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. by playing Motherwell? It is as much about fitness and learning to play WITH new teamates than AGAINST the opposition.

Oi finlay that negative was un-called for. You cant go around negativing folk for having a different opinion than you

I'm more than happy to get into a debate with you about this but lay off the dots hay

  4. Nonsense. Why is there no point in having friendlies against lower league opposition? Brechin, Forfar, and Ayr didn't do us any harm last summer. We needed a last minute goal to beat Ayr and just scrapped past Forfar. We have very little chance of attracting an EPL Club to Fir Park these days......but then again what would they get from playing against lesser opposition?

because pre season friendlies are all about preparation. Whats the point in preparing for hearts, rangers,Celtic,Dundee utd etc by playing Brechin, Forfar, and Ayr?

  5. There is no point of having a friendly match against teams in leagues bellow motherwell but i do see the point in friendlies against premier league teams etc. IF advertised well enough a game v a premier league side could pull a half decent crowd on a sunny evening and that gives the club a chance to earn a few extra bob. It also gives the players a chance to test themselves against supposedly better opposition.

They should never get so long off anyway.

The money they make, they should have 2 weeks off at Xmas and 2 weeks in the summer like the rest of us.

  6. Maybe some Motherwell fans just happen to be proud British citizens who hate Irish terrorism. Is it supposed to be only Rangers fans who feel like this??

Why get sucked in to it though?

Its a reaction they want and some people fall for it.

Its got nothing to do with football and motherwell football club.

Let the old firm get on with being the scar and shame of football in scotland. Why some motherwell fans want to be part of it i don't know.

We are better than them in every way without all that shite.

  7. Negative dot me as much as you want but i need to post this.

Why on earth do some sections of the motherwell support insist on spewing out bigoted bile and associating themselves with the the scum of Scottish football?

Some of you may refuse to talk about it and address this issue but that isn't how we stamp this shite out.

Why should motherwell fans be saying things like f****n bastards etc etc?

What the hell has any of that religious/political crap got to do with football and motherwell football club.

We had quite a lot of rangers fans amongst us on saturday but if the roles were reversed i bet you most of the motherwell support would of reacted differently with celtic fans amongst us.

Any motherwell fan who prefers one old firm club to the other must be lacking something

A hell of a lot of rangers fans are stinking filthy low life bigots. They are no better than celtic fans in anyway.

Why some motherwell fans associate themselves with them when they don't need to i don't know.

No Wonder we get tarred "h**s without the bus fair"

We are motherwell football club. We don't need to be one or the other. we are better than all this bigoted crap that shames Scotland. Get it tae fuck.

Problems don't go away if you ignore them.

  8. I was expecting the well to be at Celtics heels closing them down and harassing them from the start. There wasn't much urgency in there play at all and they give Celtic far to much space at times.

Some of the balls given away today were criminal. Its as if they didn't know what to do when in possession of the ball.

I just think the fans and this town deserved better from them players today.

Even though we played shite and Celtic deserved to beat us i still feel hard done by in a strange way. Celtic will forget about this in a few days.

To us it would of meant far more.

Well done to the team for getting there but the hard fact of the matter is you have let yourselves and more importantly the fans down today when it mattered.

My take on it all will probably change later when i get a chance to reflect.

  9. Hi Guys,

Just a wee reminder that the street vendors selling scarves and flags in the town centre have no connection to Motherwell F.C. and that money spent with them not benefit Motherwell F.C. in any way.

There is nothing we can do to stop them as they are not breaking copyright (although the police and trading standards are keeping a close eye).

Obviously we can't tell you where to spend your money but I think its appropriate that you have this information before making your decision.

Just out of curiosity mate, what percentage of your sales go to the club?

  10. I was at fir park there with the mrs (she wanted pics with the players)and there was a lad there i know who's a die hard rangers fan with two of his mates, one of which was a celtic fan.

Anyway i asked him what hes up to and he said hes waiting for his mate who's just got a call from fir park and is in getting there tickets for them .

The other day up the street i got talking to a guy who said he was looking forward to the final. He said hes going with his sons and brothers who are all rangers daft. He had a wee lassie with him who had a well top on and i said, at least she supports a real club. He laughed and she shouted "but rangers is my big team. <_>

Also theres a guy one street over from me who is rangers daft. He has motherwell flags in his window and insists its because motherwell are a good potastant club.

Why cant the rangers fans of motherwell fuck off .

Why do they insist on adopting motherwell as there wee team at times like this. NEARLY every motherwell fan i know hates rangers but these rangers fans dont think so.

Its embarissing and its threataning to take the shine off the cup final for me. Im trying to ignore it but its impossible when you live in a rangers dominated area.

  11. And all to a background of Bruce Springsteen singing My Hometown. Then again, maybe not.

Admittedly not the best joke in the world but your reaction is a tad harsh, no?

Sorry mate, after all these years im still struggling to understand the Scottish sense of humour

  12. "Yesterday for once mfc wasn't tucked away in there corner of motherwell being so quiet nobody give a shite about them, They were in the town centre as proud as could be. In the faces of old firm fans and saying, this is our town."

Theres my pics for the day.

Since before i even moved to motherwell i used to think to myself that you wouldn't know motherwell had a spl club with all the rangers and celtic tops floating about. There's no sign of mfc anywhere in the town and it done my head in quite a bit like

Anyway the last few weeks up the street and around the town motherwell shirts have outnumbered old firm shirts.

Iv seen cars and houses flying well flags in east kilbride, wishaw, newmains and even barrhead.

Yesterday was the icing on the cake. seeing all them kids with there well tops on running about the shops trying to find pictures of players for there competition. Seeing all the shops done up and well fans strutting about there town centre looking at all the displays.

The people of this town and further afield are proud of there football club but its up to the club to exploit that pride in bring these people through the turnstiles.

Yesterday for once mfc wasn't tucked away in there corner of motherwell being so quiet nobody give a shite about them, They were in the town centre as proud as could be. In the faces of old firm fans and saying, this is our town. :woop:
