  1. I can see Samson being on our radar as a last resort; I can't see him being the number one choice of the management team, though. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Trialist keeper play tomorrow night.
  2. I nearly put him down but decided Motherwell players only, hah. I'd have added Pirlo, too.
  3. Jennings, Leitch Snr, Derek Adams (for a season or two)... All players who lacked a significant turn of pace who were very effective in the middle in recent years. Pace doesn't make a player; if he can learn to position himself well and read the game he'll be the perfect fit for protecting a back 4 and breaking up play. Give him some time; he needs to learn the game some more and equally train some more. There's no reason why without the proper training and conditioning (which I believe he'll get given our current backroom staff in that area) he can't pick up his pace and fitness to fit the mould described.
  4. I'd agree with that; though I'd settle for 3 of those suggested 4 as I think we've got enough at right mid with Ainsworth, Thomas and potentially Maclean there already. All preferably with some experience; still concerned that we're looking pretty young this year and could do with some more seasoned (but not in the same age range as Keith, Hammell, McManus...) pros.
  5. Sounds like we're unlucky not to be 2-1 up; one off the bar and another cleared off the line.
  6. I've tweeted the club to ask... no response yet. Edit: when we last played Bradford in preseason I'm sure it was under McGhee; did we not have two trialists playing; big centre half and a winger? I recall the winger ended up asking for £10k/week in wages or something ridiculous; can anyone remember their names? (Just out of curiosity!)
  7. I'm not so sure; he'll certainly be considering quite a few offers. There's still a lot of the summer left to get him on board. May also be because we're in Holland and not working on signings as much this week; I'm sure 'Flow said (or someone mentioned earlier in the thread) that there wouldn't be much development on any signings this week. I'd imagine IB would want to be heavily involved in discussions too and his focus this week is exactly where it should be; training the team and getting them ready for the new season.
  8. I think it was mentioned before but was clarified as being under negotiation, rather than expired.
  9. I want to see the away in person before deciding which to buy, but do like them both from that!
  10. Top 10 with a decent few cup runs. Avoiding relegation and allowing the new players to gel into the team IB wants, then onwards and upwards from there.
  11. I'd not be so sure re: Mcdonald. For a successful club who have several ex-Conference players in their side look no further than Inverness. A significant number of their team are from there. Like Weeyin said; plenty of talent/rough diamonds that need a bit of polishing into the finished article.
  12. Louis Moult has been 'Given permission' to speak with us, according to the BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33312663) No actual quotes in the article or anything, but interesting nonetheless. Wonder if we'll have the majority of the new players in for the trip to Holland next week? Like 'Flow said on Twitter the other day; a busy week ahead!
  13. In all honesty, if Carswell had played in the 2nd half of the season every week like he had up until Christmas I reckon we'd have been down automatically instead of the playoff; the difference in class between him and Pearson was there for all to see and is one of the reasons I think we stayed up. If we'd had a better season this year (i.e. not almost going down) I reckon he'd have gotten another year/developed more in the latter half of this season into a solid SPFL midfielder as he'd have gotten some more playing time. Issue was, we simply didn't perform when he was in the team on a consistent enough basis; Bara got rid as part of the cull, which is fair enough based on team performances without him. Good luck to him.
  14. Was just thinking the same thing...
  15. I'm sure I saw him modelling their new strip in one if UBH's posts in the thread in General Football..
  16. Sounds a bit like Erwin re: run of knee injuries. Hopefully we've unearthed another gem. Look at ICT's record of unearthing talent from those leagues etc; it's a good way to do business and I think he'll be a good addition.
  17. Watched him play for Stanley a few times. Tidy wee player.
  18. And hopefully one of the last given the club's proposed new strategy...
  19. I was thinking about it but I'd rather wait and see if there's any decent away trips (Morecambe etc.) this summer and drive to one of them.
  20. Nope, he was in and out of the team and isn't the player he was. Needing new ideas this summer, I think.
  21. Does the season not start a bit earlier because of the Euros next year?
  22. That article is 3 years old?!
