  1. Actually, I was making the point that if you compare pound for pound entrance fees, we get a much higher standard in the SPL than the punters forking out 15 quid for non-league dross.

I'll let you know in advance next time I plan to be facetious. Save you you further embarrassment.

I had said though that football in Scotland AND England was too dear, but that at least in the Premiership you were watching top players. I would argue that pound for pound the Premiership, and possibly the top Championship teams is around the same as the SPL. If you were to start making comparisons with Italy, Germany, even Spain, we are getting shafted!

I was working in Ayr on a matchday last year and went to Ayr United v East Fife, and it was £17. Which is probably a lower standard than English non league if we are honest.

  2. Work, school, tesco, braehead, gigs, cinemas, bingo..... don't require a polis presence who are responsible for the safety of all fans travelling to and at the game.

There is probably far more people in Braehead on a saturday afternoon than there will be going to this game, so why do we let the police have such a big say?

I'm not saying it makes sense to drive to Inverness given the conditions, playing devils advocate to an extent. However it does appear that the authorities think people are smart enough to make there own mind whether they want to do something, except footbll fans.

  3. Football in the UK (well Scotland and England) is vastly overpriced!

However if you compare the standard of players at the top premiership clubs, to the SPL, the SPL is a complete rip off. At least in England you are watching top players.

£20+ for an SPL game is scandalous, the standard is low, and the facilities are poor!

I only pay for myself, I can't imagine how hard it must be for those with kids that go to games aswell.

Some of the SFL prices are pretty steep too.

  4. I also red in a paper we were singing the potato song never heard it, why are they allowed to sing IRA songs and happy when scottish solders are killed

That was in saturdays record. In the "Everybody gangs up on me" puff piece with Aiden McGeady.

How they get away with printing bollocks like that I don't know. We did sing a song to the same tune, with some of the same words, but so did Celtic fans (I think the aiden mcgeady, why don't you go home chants were in response).

  5. There was a coin thrown at a hibs player (riordan i think) coming over to take a throw in not long after the 3rd goal. The guy who I'm pretty sure threw it, then went through the loose change in his pocket and picked out another coin, and sat with it in his hand, presumably waiting for his next opportunity.

This was not a kid, guy 30+. In the 2nd last section. I'd be amazed if i was the only person that saw this!

There appeared to be a couple of things thrown at Zemmama when he celebrated the goal, but the guy that was throwing the coins appeared to be pre-meditated, which makes it much worse.

I had to leave early to go to work, so think i must have missed the corner incident.

In Riordan's defence, his winding up was a bit more subtle than Zemmama's!

  6. I'd like to see Forbes played in a more advanced position. He seems to sit behind the midfield, but with the goal threat he offers, maybe he should be further forward?

He got pushed forward when Jennings came on in midweek (116 mins) and pulled a good save, then scored (118mins).

  7. Does anyone have any ideas how I can listen to the game through the radio scotland bbc site? I'm out the country and the BBC will only let listeners within the UK tune in. Help..Please.....

You can download XB browser, which allows you to pretend you rae in a different country, but is really slow unless you pay for it.

Or there is an online version (might come up in a search?) which lets you hide your IP, by going through there link, bith of them should work.

  8. No, your crime is bitching about it like a wee schoolwean. Grow up. As I've said before, everyone knew the capacity of the grounds we were maybe going to because the list of teams has been around on this forum for what seems like weeks now. If you book flights and accomodation for a trip knowing the ground only holds 1000, and then complain because you've paid out and you're not guaranteed a ticket, then you sir, are an idiot...

Son, if brains were dyanmite, you wouldn't have enough to blow your nose...

    Bit harsh imo.

Initial news was we were playing Llanelli, and they would most likely move the tie to the Parc y Scarlets.

Although never official, bearing in mind there might be enough 'well fans going to fill the seated area of there stadium twice over, it seemed a fair assumption!

  9. But he did turn that title challenging team of Mcleans into a relegation battling team!!!!

He took a great Motherwell team (best most of us have seen/will see), and started to make them rubbish, then got a bigger job at Hibs, and after a good year or 2 with Alex millers side, things started to go wrong, then he got the Rangers job, did well with Advocaats team....

I remeber saying to anyone who would listen when he left Rangers, that

"He can't get a bigger job now  "

So you can imagine my surprise when he got the Scotland job!

Maybe the Scotland job was the job for him, as someone said, he was fine until he started signing players.

He must have spent more than every other manager put together, Van der Gaag (450k) was a success, but there was McSkimming (350k), Eddie May (200k + kirk + Mowgli), John henry (100k? I think?)

  10. Maybe £15 is a tad steep. But I can bet you it will be the cheapest european ticket in Scotland this season. Motherwell is a business and especially this year we need to maximise income.

    4000 x £15 = £60,000

    6000 x £10 = £60,000

In all honesty do you think we would get 6000 even if we reduced to £10???

    I have to agree!

It has been proved several times in the past that we have a hardcore of fans who will attend most/all "home" games of around 3000-4000, and unless we literally give tickets away, we will get little more, unless it's a really big game (old firm, cup), or one that captures imagination (Nancy).

Our best bet of filling the Shybery would be drawing Linfield, as all the h**s would come.

  11. Read somewhere that our first round Euro match would be against a team from one of the following countries : Macedonia

    Azerbaijan

    Estonia

    Albania

    Kazakhstan

    Armenia

    Wales

    N Ireland

    Faroes

    Luxembourg

    Montenegro

    Malta

I would probably only manage the home game as I'm off on holiday soon after , but does anyone fancy any of these destinations ?

    Wales

    I can drive there!

  12. a got ripped fae ma killie supporting mate for going on steelmen.com in uni

he said it sounded like a gay porn website.

My girlfriend said exactly the same, she thinks it's hillarious, especially when you say it out loud!

I tried to explain how the name steelmen came about, but she just hears "steal men online"

  13. I think at Tynecastle it's because they dont trust the turnstile staff to handle the cash. I worked there a few times when I worked for Rocksteady, and they are quite right, there were guys fighting over who got to man the cash gate! :P

Normally they will have a window where you can buy tickets, and it will be manned by Hearts own staff, right up to KO, although I'd confirm that with MFC or HoMoFC before travelling to Edinburgh ticketless.

  14. I could have voted for Quinn, thought he was very good today, and even got a rare goal, think he has improved over the last few weeks, after a nightmare against falkirk.

Had to go for O'Brien though, only player that really caused them any problems.

  15. Old Firm fans are allowed to do what the hell they want at Fir Park.

Although there seemed to be a fair number of coppers wading into the Cooper Stand during the second half which was good to see - I assume some of the Timothies up the back had been smacking the windows of the boxes?

Apparently not Jay, supposedly it was 2 women fighting and a number of onlookers intervened, resulting in a few people getting lifted!

I heard they were trying to arrest someone for stealing a pie, (honsetly! ;) ), then they all started kicking off.

On Jays 1st point, I'd be interseted to see if I could get away with parking wherever I liked outside the ground when we play anybody else? They (celtic and rangers fans) just park wherever they like!

  16. Ewan spouting one side of a pishy debate and Alan Rough saying the exact opposite. It's as transparent as pish.

Exactly, they are just trying to be controversial!

I can't believe that anybody who knows anything about football can hold some of the ridiculous opinions they do on some things.

I tell you what would be really controversial, for someone in the media to have a real and sustained attack on the OF, their fans, and all that they stand for. However that will never happen, as they would lose half or all their listeners if they attacked one or both of the OF.
