Heard a rumour that the new sponsor will not be putting their name on the strips as a tribute to the fan ownership

I like the idea of this, but I'm guessing any sponsor would be looking for some level of exposure, even if not through shirt advertising. Unless of course it really *is* a money for nothing deal

I suppose there's the possibility that we haven't actually secured a shirt sponsor yet...

  2. Loving the kits, especially the away one, and especially without a sponsor plastered across it.

Unfortunately, it would be extremely unusual for a top flight club to start a season without one, and therefore a bit surprising that one hasn't yet been announced.

Personally think it would be great to see Suicide Awareness  move from back to front of shirt, sadly seems to affect a lot of us in the area.

  3. Overall, got to be happy with a point against this mob given our habitual capitulation. However, struggle to understand why we didn't pull Frear at half time given our 2 goal lead and the likelihood of an increase of pressure on our defensive areas. Although tbf, I doubt the management team expected us to be *that* bad for the 1st 15 mins.

Plenty positives though... Main! The fella can pump ma missus and wipe his boaby on my curtains on the way out!

  4.

The amount of ground Rose covered in the second half last night was unbelievable. Pity he didn't score with that header late on, cos he deserved a goal last night.

Rose continues to improve and put in a great shift last night, especially after we took the lead. I think a wee goal or two would really lift the boys confidence in his own abilities. An easy first team pick for the gaffer.

And he's much betterer than the McHugh guy :D

  5. Surely Craig Levein was making the point that Scott Brown should be penalised more, which may affect said table.

Using the disciplinary table as a retort to Craig leveins point doesnt really work in that context.

    Agree with this.

I no longer have any idea what constitutes a foul, and even less so when a booking is / is not deserved. The inconsistency of refereeing decisions has hit a new low, most games now seem riddled with baffling decisions. For example, I have absolutely no idea how Murray Davidson escaped a booking last night, despite committing at least 5 or 6 (punished) fouls. Game after game the same shite decisions are made, but, as always, are only ever highlighted when they don't go the way of the ugly sisters.

I don't believe for a second we are a "dirty" team, but I also don't believe ref's have it in for us... They're just appalling at their jobs.

  6. That doesn't surprise me. I've learnt from previous AGMs that the club is often at the mercy of individual match commanders and local high heid yins. Believe it or not individual police officers have different views and different pet policies. They're not always consistent much to various parties' frustrations. It doesn't do to fall out with the police.

Match commanders are a bit like referees; Some are quite good, some are just simply inept. The difference being one is only in charge of a football match, the other is in charge of the safety of thousands of people in, sometimes, fairly volatile situations.

If the latest career climber at Motherwell Police Station thinks that a few guys and a drum need moving to keep the peace, then I guess he can be also be expected to vigorously enforce the all-seated and anti-sectarian laws that are at his disposal. Failure to do so would just show him up to be targeting small groups, and a bit of an all-round shitebag. Not that that would ever happen in these parts.

Anyhoos, I'm sure Alan Marshall will have told the polis where to go...

  7. I said it on another thread but despite McHugh's poorer form I think we need him as the anchor man in midfield. Team has look a lot more comfortable with him holding.

    There's only one anchor man...

Just cannae see what he offers in that role... On the ball he gives it away far too often, and defensively costs us with silly tackles. But it's healthy that I've eventually disagreed with you on something! :good:

  8. Agree with lobey dosser that McHugh seems to have regressed since he got the armband. I think he is maybe trying too hard because he feels he has to set the benchmark for the rest of the squad. I would give the band to Hartley and let McHugh get back to doing what he was doing last season. He hasn't become a bad player and everybody and their granny on here said he was a shoe_in for the captaincy based on his performances last season.

    COYW

I've never understood how being captain of a football side could be a mental weight to carry. Other than the kick-off coin toss, what exactly is the point of them? There are natural leaders and natural followers in life, an armband with a club crest won't change that. Players should be equally motivated to win their own individual battles, if they're not up to it, the manager has options to change it.

We also have managers, assistant managers, fitness coaches and so-on on the touchline delivering messages throughout the game. So again, what is the actual point of a captain on the pitch?

Back to McHugh; I've rarely seen a player at this level with such poor distribution. It is simply awful. We're not talking about the odd misplaced ball, he's doing it dozens of times every game. He also regularly makes abysmal tackling decisions and overall, is a negative influence in the team. Never in a million years a central midfielder, and should only be an emergency centre half. He seems to have won some fans over because he likes a meaty challenge... I'd have booted my granny back in the day when she could play a bit, but it wouldn't have altered the fact I was completely shite at fitba.

But aye... Mibbe it's wearing an arm band that's his problem.
