  1. Something is rotten in the state of Motherwell
  2. Dreadful from start to finish. We never got going from the first whistle and the game was quite correctly done after 30 mins. Past couple of results aside, we are, as we have been all season, dreadful. Piecing together enough points (by my count we need 3 wins in 10) will be a huge task. Whatever division we are in next season, massive changes are required.
  3. One of the worst 45 minutes I can remember seeing.
  4. Our defending or lack thereof is staggering.
  5. Accies look much more hungry. Worrying
  6. Why did we sign new players in January?
  7. Rickie Fucking Lamie. Jesus, he is awful
  8. Robbie Crawford is a complete passenger. Utter dugmeat. Him and Lamie and can feel free to head back to almond vale on monday
  9. Rickie fucking Lamie. One of the worst players I’ve seen in a well jersey
  10. Big result. Lifts us into the pack. Could’ve/should’ve scored more but we saw that under Robinson with points going to the other side
  11. We’re going to need an open top bus in may... Not because we’ll win anything, we’ll just need to ship out 28 from 35 bodies at the end of the season. In all seriousness, great job Motherwell. Clearly improved the first team, moved on bodies and brought real pedigree and excitement during January. I for one am excited about the strategic prospect of our B squad entering the pyramid. At this rate, we might meet each other in league 1.
  12. I have absolutely no problem with signing players from lower English leagues. What I do have a problem with is that becoming our default setting with no vision or horizon of a new crop of youth and 5-6 senior pros of quality in the squad to guide youth and emerging talent alike.
  13. Ahh, okay. I didn’t realize asking for ambition and aspiration was now ‘a load of shite’. Noted
  14. Which part exactly? The part about us not bringing in clear starters or the part about us being potentially relegated? Or maybe it was the part about us not clearly investing despite posting profits and knowingly having 3-4 million in player money and European prize money in the next financial year? We’ve moved on 1 player that was signed as a number 9 and brought in 3 as replacement.
  15. Agree with much of what you say however, I don’t think we should judge ourselves by the others around us. I’ve been pretty consistent in advocating that we act like what we are, which is the 7th largest club in the country. We’ve been enveloped by a malaise IMO and quickly approaching the stage where I couldn’t differentiate many our players from livi, (whom I have massive respect for) st Mirren (about as yoyo as it gets) or even accies. Last night, we had a situation of people touting Isaiah Jones in the “could do a job” category, when the guy was headed to Palmerston, so clearly the level of acceptability is lower than I assumed. Yes, we had a good and badly needed result in dingwall but one swallow doesn’t make a summer and I’d be extremely surprised if we don’t head into the split needing to pick up points. With our ownership model, relegation would be disastrous and with such little time left, it seems extremely unlikely that there will be any/enough players coming into the club at a level which will dispel those worries.
  16. With less than 48 hours to go, you can’t help but feeling entirely underwhelmed by the business we have done. There’s no significant increase in quality as yet (yes, lawleff is better than seedorf but who isn’t). IMO we went into this window needing a minimum 3/4 players of significant superior quality to what we have - bodies that would come straight into the first 11. Not only to help us escape a relegation battle but to also galvanize the support and give us a backbone as we heads into a summer whereby we stand to loose 3-4 of our bigger names (though arguably some of the poorer performers recently). Lawleff was / is always/should be a squad player, Smith seems decent but again isn’t a focal point or a nailed on starter and Foley is somewhat of a baffling signing given he’s 34, hardly kicked a ball all season and is on a short term deal. We could have/should have invested in this window however I can’t help but feel we’re doing the absolute minimum as a club to hopefully squeeze out a 10th placed finish. The abundance of dead wood remains, to be cleared in the summer. All of which amounts to the most monumental rebuild I can remember, with the distinct possibility of an almost unrecognizable starting 11 next season - that doesn’t hold much hope for a team that might be chasing promotion.
  17. Credit to the team and manager in the second half. Never saw it coming but we picked ourselves up and played with a much better tempo. Middle of the park is still a big worry but Maguire was excellent tonight which was a boost. Tony Watt was very good also.
