I don't think a guy that sat on the bench for two teams however big they perceived to be really fits in all that well in context of this thread. Years from now we're hardly gonna be getting misty eye at how close we came to signing Peggy Arphexad!
-
Clarkson still often looks a bit rough round the edges and awkward but he for me absolutely vital to the team. Hope he around for seasons to come.
-
Obviously a cultural thing but relays are part of our cup history and wouldn't change that for anything.

Ok fair point, but why not just pay the lawyers fees on behalf of the club? Why go to trouble of buying the debt? Has he made nothing out of it, was it purely a point if principle it not all that clear. Until the day Boyle leaves Fir Park no final judgement can be made, for all we know we end up at Ravenscraig in a rented legoland while Boyles pockets millions from sale of Fir Park. Not saying it going to happen but I still have my doubts.

Good clip but bloody hell, thought we played in claret and amber no canary yellow!

There not a lot between a lot of the keepers I don't think. McGregor looked like a real quality goalie a times last season but not so much this. Boruc looks a real liability, Mark Brown is nothing special, decent. Langfield has had the odd howler in his career but is normally pretty good. Utds keeper I not saw much of but they can't hold onto to him so obviously doing ok. Hibs keepers dire, until signed ex Utd polish lad who I thought was pretty good and seems to have started off ok again. Combe is a good keeper, nothing fancy but pretty consistent. The bottom 4 keepers of Howard, Esson, Olejnik and Cerny have certainly never stood out and well elts face it they should get ample opportunity so I'd put Smith in the upper half certainly.

PR handling aside I think he seemed to totally turn away from the the type of football he aspires for us to play for a couple of months. We basically humped the ball up the park a lot and got nowhere. I know we had injury problems, but they came mostly at the back. Clarkson did also missed a few games and he is a big miss in the system we play. He persevered to long with Sutton and Porter for my liking. No harm to Sutton he got us a few goals when he came in but him and Porter doesn't really work. Murphy is a bit raw, Darren Smith probably not got it really, and O'Brien now featuring but I think these guys should have got more of a chance when Clarkson in particular was out. Stick to our footballing principles and try and ride out the rough patch til everyone comes back. McGarry seems to have faded back to fodder after a bright start under McGhee but sticking him left side of midfield for weeks doesn't help him. That said we were bypassing midfield for a good while. All seems well now and I delighted that the players seem to be giving the manager everything, I seriously doubted McGhee to point where I thought he'd completely lost it. Last few games we look a decent outfit as well as one that seems solid. during the worst spell we all talking about missing McCormack and he is a miss but the guys still here have shown that they can play some decent football still. Think McGhee has somewhat made excuses to cover his own mistakes. I'll not bang on about it to much, I don't really care, certainly not while we winning. :-)

Think he could have done with taking more responsibility for our piss poor form, sure we had our problems but think he handled them badly. I wouldn't rule out third though we are very much an outside shot. We have four teams to overhaul and it isn't Hearts I concerned about, as Frazzle says they likely to implode at any time even without losing players in january. Them and Hibs are there for the taking but Aberdeen and Utd have enough of a cushion that it is in their hands to lose. I'll be happy if we close the gap enough to make them nervous bit like Aberdeen managed to do with us last season. If games go to form we'll be travelling to Easter road a week on saturday and we should be level on points with Hibs, how that game turns out will go as long way to deciding what it is we end fighting over. Cue dropped points this saturday now, hopefully not.

What the deal with season ticket holders getting a free ticket for falkirk or hamilton games, I think are the ones left? I know you have to sort it out in advance, is it just a matter of taking a voucher to ticket office?
-
What I can only assume was a below par Man city were largely played off the park by them home and away, I not sure how Midtjylland contrived to lose that tie. Possibly nerves up against big name opposition at putting them away but certainly for most part held their own very well.

Twas reported at time that only 50% off Faddy money was due to creditors, indeed saw it reported as low as now of it due to time lapsed. So some maybe or all of it might have been in one door and out the other but enough reports on it suggest that may not be the case.

Some hooligan not through a plastic cup once?
-
No you implied it. You didn't fancy having two wingers from a relegated Dunfermline team twas what you said. Hammill be very lucky to get a game at Liverpool but that is a good thing if we have any interest. I'd take Lappin in a second also but I'd not rule him out if Norwich had been relegated last season. Also he not played a competative minute of football all season, Hammill at least been involved so bit less experienced maybe but at 21 not a raw kid either I can't see a reason to rule him out out of hand.
-
So those two players are by default rubbish then? One Liverpool still seem to want to keep and has seemingly down well in his loan spells and the other we have whether we like or not anyway but what nonsense logic.
-
I'll write down theteam list and surprise you at an unspecified point in the future. :-) Your that much of a pedant though I can see you memorising it every night just to be sure. ;-)
-
Lol careful now, some people might take that seriously! :-) Guarantee you had to look that up though. I was surprised how many were familiar when I did just to check it but point is they are all Well legends and when the 100 year marks arrives how many will trip of the tongue of average Well fan?

What is your issue over pursuit of shares Flow? A controlling shareholding is so far away as to be pie in the sky and therefore maybe it doesn't seem worth the effort for a few more here and there? I aware the trust has spent money its raised on stuff that benefitted the club, this a better idea for raised funds? I like the idea in theory of fans controlling the direction of the club, is there not a couple of lower league english clubs in that position. Anyone any idea how they getting on with that? Personally if a controlling interest can't be reached then little point spending money on shares. A shareholding shouldn't be required for fans views to be considered. How much money do fans pump into club as it is. I'd go as far as to say the trust shouldn' t necesarily be a fundraising body. If it wants to get a mandate from the fans it should seek to throw open membership for free to all that wish to get involved. Fill out a form, and seek to gather thoughts, opinions and ideas on all issues. Could be tricky to organise but it would certainly help make the trust seem more of an open body that isn't looking for anything from anyone but the time and effort they wish to invest. With the chairmanship the biggest issue to be resolved, it could even be passed round to all members on a rota, not a position to be elected to but a responsability for all even if only briefly that are concerned.

In context of football very few names will be considered legendary 100 years after their time if people still talking abut them is the criteria. Pele, Maradonna... Hell the 52 cup team isn't that long ago and they all Motherwell legends but most of us would have to look them up for reminders of their names, Redpath, Humphries, Watson and I had to look up Kelly just to get the fourth name on the scoresheet, certainly couldn't do the whole team off the top of my head.
-
I'll go as far as to say that we shouldn't have named stand after him etc given we have people more 'Motherwell' than he was but not for one second would I not consider him a Motherwell legend. He was quite simply the most talented player we had in my time watching Motherwell. The influence he had on younger players around him like Tom Boyd and Phil O'Donnell was obvious and the skills he showed transformed us from a rather dour team under Tommy McLean into one well worth watching. For £50k what a bargain. Given he is also one of the 91 cup heroes there is no doubt in my mind. I was rarely more disappointed than when he missed out on Italia 90 with injury after playing his way back into Scotland fold in the claret and amber.

What so there should be no fans on the board? I take it as a given that by and large at a club like ours the board members(some) are fans, albeit somewhat removed from the average fan in the terraces etc. People might have other interests but I doubt Chapman put the time he did into club just to get the pie contract. Times move on and it probably doesn't hold as true as maybe once did but I see no problem with a fan or fan representative on the board. Yes no one body can represent everyones views but better some sort of majority than none. And yes the fan board member could be easily enough sidlined from meaningful decisions but at very least get a lot more transparency and an idea of what is going on re running of club what and why is happening. It not the solution to all our problems but it could and should if done properly improve communication between club and fans.

I think if the stadium costs us as much as I led to believe it does to keep it up to current safety standards then it probably isn't fit for purpose. We spent a small fortune keeping the Main stand open already, how much more will we have to spend just to keep it as is. Would love to see the old place redeveloped from ground up but I don't see it happening.
-
You rather they fucked about and treated what they trying to do like a big joke? I can't say I over impressed by what the trust has down over its existence. I sceptical about some of the board members but some people on this thread nakedly hostile for reasons they can barely make clear. Accusations of jumping on a bandwagon are a bit silly, they taking an interest in something they supposed to take an interest in. As for looking for publicity that is a laugh, when do you ever see them getting much publicity anywhere I must keep missing it. they'd do well to ditch their chairman/ club board member but Frazzle, Andy Ross and the Dossier doing well to respond with patience to the petty snipers on here.
-
I daresay no one is gonna change your mind re merits of moving to Ravenscraig. My own first choice would be a redeveloped Fir Park if it was at all possible. That doesn't seem to be the way the wind is blowing. Still when push comes to shove if and when Motherwell hitch a few hundred yard up the road to Ravenscraig will you not be following?
-
Without flinging in the reserves or u19's I'd be for starting Sutton ahead of Porter and Murphy for Clarkson probably anyway on saturday. Could use a run out and should still have more than enough to get past this lot, however up for it they are. Also rest Hughes for McGarry.
-
Why should it inspire them any more or less than us bringing in another fulltime goalie? End of the day the manager thinks they good enough or not and will keep them around if he thinks they up to the job.
