  1. I too thought it was a decent team performance. We outplayed Utd, especially in the first half.

On the negative side, Fraser's display may overshadow another player who clearly doesn't look SPL material - Humphrey. Every time he comes on he looks clueless. Punt him in the summer please Craig.

  2. Fraser will grab all the headlines which is a shame. Young Saunders came in to the side and played well - especially at Right Back. Pity he had to move to the centre when Crags went off.

  3. Fir Park illustrates the state of Scottish Football just now - dilapidated, patched up, and half empty! It would require some very clever investment or a sugar daddy to build a new stadium in near future. I like the look of the Norwegian stadiums too - but they do belong to teams who play in one of the wealthiest countries per head of capita in the world. A bit far removed from Lanarkshire.

  4. My guess is Duke and Ruddy will get picked up by Championship sides for next season - possibly small, Premiership clubs. But even if Everton were to release them on freebies, signing on fees and wages will be a different league to Motherwell. However, given the form of both players, Everton would be daft not to aim for decent transfer fees for both.

Wherever they end up, I hope the recent presence of the Americans on trial is testement to a good relationship between us and Everton. I for one, would be happy for them to send up a couple of fringe players each season for experience.

  5. Let's not shoot the messenger. He's only passing on what he heard. Even if what he heard sounds a load o bollocks.

I think Bill Dickie is in his 80s now anyway. Apologies to all OAPs but just how in touch is he with reality?

    Nice story though.

  6. The situation is simply that it is Craig's preference to announce the player deals together however the others are taking a little longer to finalise and yesterday the media boys had Stevie's news and were going to run with it.

That being the case, with it coming out anyway, Craig and I took Alan's advice in that good news such as this should, wherever possible, come from the club so I told him to run with it.

There is nothing rattling in the background on this one. Others to follow very soon I hope.

    Leeann

I thought Weeyin pulled out a cracking quote from Paw Broon. This quick response from the club proves they do keep an eye on the rumour mill.

The only problem now is, what can we moan about now?

  7. Cheers for this. How much of the match do you watch through a lens?

The IT anorak that I am has now watched this 3 times and freeze framed when the ball is originally struck. Lukas appears to be 1 foot nearer the 6 yard line - so offside. But what a close one.

  8. I think Jennings is the best player under the Brown/Knox era and could give him MOTM every week right now. However, for yesterday's performance - work rate, distribution, defensive tackles and goal - John Sutton.

  9. As I said, he'd make a very good scout which he could combined with a day release course on man management at a local further education establishment allowing him to re-enter management and fulfil his true potential.

:( But as a scout, he'd have to report to a manager - someone higher ranking with more knowledge and skills. In JG's eyes, does such a mere mortal exist?

  10. £500k and we wouldn't have to face him in Old Firm colours. With the sell on clause, this sounds about right. However, are sell on clauses poular these days? I bet Livingston wish they had tied up Dorrans on one. They could have avoided administration.

  11. I confess I was right behind Gannon until the news broke about his man management skills. I thought he was a breth of fresh air with his devotion to youth development and passing football. The majority of his signings have proved to be good catches - especially Hately.

I now admit to being wrong - a quality Gannon appears to lack. I've already heard him say the Peterborough players and fans have been wrong but he was right. Shame. I suspect his career will consist of fleeting triumphs and numerous failures.

  12. where is the best place to park in perth. i parked in tesco the last time as i work for them and was late but i dont think i get away with parking in there with out a ticket this time.

Looking forword to the game as i was there for the first game of the season. 1-0 win and sutton score.

When you come off the A9, turn left - opposite direction to stadium - and head for the big garden centre and travel inn. Loads of free parking, five minutes from ground.

  13. Interesting to see so many fans keeping their feet on the ground and being pessimistic. The opening game this season was a good, even affair. The Fir Park encounter had the Well team at near mutiny with Gannon. I agree Saturday will be tight as St J are playing some decent stuff just now. But hell so are we - and we are a better side. So I'll go 1-0 to us.

  14. All away fans were searched first game of the season at St Johnstone. I can see te club needs to be taking all necessary measures to stop trouble inside the ground. My only query is why the same security isn't required elsewhere in the ground. I walked past the checkpoint, then straight through the turnstyle into the DC Stand. If someone really wanted to cause trouble, wouldn't they look for theeasiest way in?

  15. I think a huge factor now is - confidence. Just compare Craigan's recent performances to his showing at St Mirren in the League Cup.

In recent games we seem to be first to every 50-50 and all work together as a unit.

In contrast, I think Gannon spent all his time preaching how his game plan was the best - whether you believed it or understood it.
