  1. Pat Kanyuka - ex team mates thought him lazy, always late and never listens. 6ft Williams has been out on loan a lot - most recently with Walsall.
  2. Yet another Ins and Outs thread . Sign of frustration and boredom. I hope JG doesn't sign anyone through desperation but instead follows up his alleged extensive contact list and signing targets. I too would like some experience added to the squad before Thursday. But I don't want any Bob Malcolm's filling the wage bill and bench. The Europa Cup is not a priority - top 6 and a cup run is. What do we do now? Continue this thread or join it up with the other?
  3. I've 2 issues with Stephen Hughes - 1 Who on earth advised him he's £7k pw calibre. He's good - but not that good. 2 How can Hearts offer anything like that money when they're £30M in the red! They may have a stable team manager now, but business wise, Hearts still look Armageddon material somewhere down the line.
  4. At the time JG accepted the post, there were suggestions he would sign up a number of Stockport players as the club is in administration. Fon Williams was POTY last season and out of contract - therefore a likely signing. However, at present, this is still only press (and fans') speculation. As a tall keeper he'd be a good signing though.
  5. Dailly on a short term contract or loan isn't that bad an idea actually.

DLS was not injured for the LLanelli game - just left out. Looks like he now has to compete with Slane and Archdeacon for a place.... or move on.
  7. Given their age and health, I don't think Webster and Kennedy fit the Gannon model - and quite right too. Both players were quality - but too big a gamble now. By all means dig up this post six months on if Webster pops up for a corner and headers in a late winner for the Bairns tho. Players will come in to Fir Park over next few weeks. Like Jennings, most of us will never have heard of them.
  8. Total crystal ball garbage. They picked Kilmarnock last season so it shows what they know. At this stage, no-one - except maybe JG - what calibre of players will come into the Well side. However, I don't think the quality of players that have just departed - Smith, Clarkson, Quinn, etc. - are irreplaceable. Coupled with a desire to develop young talent, I think there is cause for optimism. One further factor in M'well's favour is finances. At least we have brought in over £1m through transfer fees. We are in far better shape than Kilmarnock, Falkirk, Hamilton, St Johnstone and St Mirren. Although bigger clubs, neither Hibs nor Aberdeen are flush with cash for squad investment. And as for Hearts - well when is the £30m+ debt crisis going to hit the fan? So think deeper Scotzine
  9. How about dropping Sutton and having DLS and Slane run at the 9 man defence. 2-3 goals for Well.
  10. Definately no. Clarkson and Quinn have moved for financial reasons and to further their careers. Time to move on for both them and the club. Let's bring on fresh talent.
  11. We will score and win. Don't know how many but the likes of Slane and Forbes will be instructed to run at them. Maybe DLS could be assigned to run at their defence. This should at least win us some free kicks.
  12. Craigan Hammell Reynolds Forbes O'Brien Having said that, at least one new signing will be a big centre half. That could put Hammell or Reynolds in jeapordy. Maybe Reynolds will be off before the start anyway.
  13. Can he play in goals? He'd fill that spot better than Fraser. Chuck him in the pink strip and all and he truely would be the biggest dick in the SPL.
  14. I'm not too down about last night. I thought we played the way we did for a lot of last season - lots of nice possession but no killer pass or cross to score goals. This was the case even with Hughes, Clarkson and Quinn. It's very early in the season and JG has just arrived. But IMHO it sounds like he's already sussed out the weaknesses of the current squad. I believe by the start of the real season, we will have a couple of 6ft 3+ defenders, wide players with pace and crossing ability and a MacDonaldesque goal poacher. Slane and Forbes look as though they could be useful squad players. Lasley, Hammell and Sutton are three senior players that either sharpen up or go seek contracts with Partick Thistle.
  15. Does anyone know for sure if this one year contract offer story is true? Was the Falkirk deal done before Gannon got a chance to rate McLean? I'm sorry to see him go. After all his injuries, he looked like finding some form towards the end of last season. I think Gannon will do well if he can sign up better than him. Sorry to see him go.
  16. Regardless of the opposition, we can't ask too much so early in the season. I think Jim Gannon will tell the players to go out and be positive from the start. I think 2 first half goals should steady things. 2-0
  17. Big McLean is an established SPL player already. I'm all for Jimbo bringing up his own defenders, but IMHO Brian is worthy of a new 2 year contract. We surely can't just create a whole new team. We need some established players to build the rest of the side around. McLean even fits Jim Gannon's model of a player - he can play in several positions. I'd rather see us sign Big Brian before Klimpl.
  18. McGarry and Smith can also play up front. Without trying to belittle LLanelli, surely to God both can play better calibre football. Daz fell out of favour with MMG and SL. Maybe Jimbo will see him differently.
  19. Falkirk have made a last-ditch attempt to beat SPL rivals St Mirren to the signature of Motherwell defender Brian McLean. (Daily Express)From BBC This shouldnae be. These are our rivals and both are in a worse financial state. I can't imagine Brian being offered too much more than what the Well are offering. Is there something else going on?
  20. Nice piece on You Tube. Sounds a really decent bloke who pulled Stockport back from the brink. He'll do for me.
  21. I'm OK about DC and Quinn moving on - provided its for good money. With the Setanta deal up the shit creek, there's going to be a lot of football talent begging for work but few clubs with a budget to pay for it. Provided the new manager gets all transfer fees for squad investment then we M'well should be better placed than most non Old Firm teams. How about taking wee Griffiths for a start? And come back Foran
  22. O ye of little faith. Well done to both clubs.
  23. I'm bored now. Just give me a nudge when the new guy starts...........
  24. Has Richie Foran signed for St Johnstone yet? If not, why can't we move for him. I thought he played a blinder against us a few weeks ago. A striker or left midfield, costs nothing and popular around Fir Park. Come home Richie
  25. True - it does look less likely the new gaffer ain't going to be any Hen Eggs or Ice Rink. But given the financial state of Scottish football at present, just what exactly is the attraction of developing your managerial career at MFC? Is it the prospect of working with raw talent like Daz and Fitzy?
