  2. Great first interview from Hartley lol. Told us to fuck off in the summer, now that he`s not getting a game he wants to play for us.

That wasn't quite the way I took his comments. We spoke to him a few times and were interested but he got a firm offer from Blackpool at a time we couldn't commit. So fair do's to the guy. He's been getting paid for the last few weeks and still got his dream move...... :)

  3. Interested to know why Hartley is surplus to requirements at Blackpool after only just signing in Pre season. He seems to have had a good first half of season last year at Bristol Rovers.

Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer says that the players in control of the jerseys at present in fine form he feels a player would be better out on loan getting game time than sitting waiting for the chance.

He also feels that the transfer window should close with the start of the season but also admits there should be a loan window available after this.

I can see where he is coming from on all those points, I just wonder if there's an option to pull Hartley back in January if required.

  4. If what we hear is correct and we are due either 10% or 25% of fee minus the £400000 we received, then we are due between £210,000 and £525,000

Depends whether the deal is based on the sell on value is against profit or not.

A club may ttake a gamble (especially if the player is a main target) and agree that profit is against the value of the next sale. If they stand to lose money then they'll negotiate harder or reject any bids and let the contract run out.

So in reality £750,000 is an achievable and realistic figure....... whether it works out that way though is a different prospect.

  5. Seeing this story popping up from various sources.

ENGLISH POWERHOUSE WANTED BY RANGERS REJECTS CONTRACT AS HE TARGETS LAST-GASP TRANSFER – SOURCES
    29th August, 2017, 7:56 AM

    By Pete O’Rourke

Rangers target Ben Heneghan has rejected a new Motherwell contract as Sunderland and QPR line up last-ditch moves to sign him, Football Insider can reveal.

The centre-back has been the subject of interest from clubs both sides of the border thus summer, including Scottish giants Rangers after catching the eye at Motherwell since his arrival from Chester last summer.

The powerhouse defender has established himself as a key man at Fir Park during his 50 appearances, with Ibrox manager Pedro Caixinha among his growing list of admirers.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the former Everton and Stoke youngster has now turned down a new deal at Motherwell to thrust his future into the microscope in the final three days of the summer window.

The Scottish Premiership outfit could now be forced to cash in on Heneghan rather than allow him to leave for nothing in 10 months.

Heneghan’s current agreement is due to expire next summer after he signed a two-year contract upon his arrival.

Championship duo Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers keen to lure the 23-year-old back down to England.

Sunderland are in the market for a new central defender as they look to bolster their defensive options, while QPR boss Ian Holloway has been keeping tabs on Heneghan as he looks to strengthen his squad at Loftus Road.

  6. Looks like the money is starting to be splashed around between clubs in England now, suppose we may start to see if there is any real interest in Moult, Cadden and Heneghan shortly or if the papers are just making it up.

On that subject, Hull have also just agreed a deal to sell Clucas to Swansea, so may free up extra funds in their chase for Johnson as well. So we may get a wee windfall that may allow us to bring someone else in without them going.

  7. Crewe considering offering Lucas a contract after speaking to a lad at Motherwell he knows, recommended him.

Artell added: “He's been in all last week. I get thrown something like three to 10 players at me every day. Lee has good pedigree, he came up at Swansea and has been at Motherwell.

"I spoke to a lad at Motherwell who I know, he rates him highly. So I said let's have a look at him.

Looking at Artell's playing career, he was at Wrexham in 2013 so not much of a stretch to guess who the lad may be....... Maybe Louis seen something we didn't get to see.

  8. Email went out to Society Memebers on the 4th of August and then Jay first posted about this on the 8th of August... it has been discussed since then on this very thread.

    Couple of more updates today:

    ST JOHNSTONE AWAY:

Firstly, the Tullibardine trip on Saturday is now open to all 'Well fans. Costs are £30 for Society members, £40 for non-members. That's bus to/from the game, a tour of the distillery, a couple of tastings, and a match ticket included - incredible value given it's £23 to get in in the first place.

Uptake hasn't been as good as we'd have hoped for so if interested, please get involved. This is not just an excellent day out at St. Johnstone Away, but it also fund raises for the "Double Your Money" initiative.

What better way to celebrate Blyth leaving than with the fitba and a few drams while helping the Well Society (ie. the Club) at the same time?

    For more info: http://www.thewellsociety.co.uk/2017/07/21/distillery-day-out-for-travelling-well-support/

    WEEKLY AUCTION:

The Society is going to be auctioning match-worn, signed jerseys from a number of players from the last few years.

These will go online every Thursday morning, starting tomorrow.

Again, it's a way to raise funds which will be subsequently doubled by Les.

  9. I think that the wry smile was because he has got his pacy front man in... he's just ad to wait for him to cut down on his other role.... I can exclusively reveal that I believe it to be, after hearing from my sister's, mother's, brother's only nephew that it is Usain Bolt,,,,, :)

  10.

Thanks mate - that's a good deal. Have I missed an announcement somewhere on this 'initiative' - are other clubs involved as well?

Just a one off, by the looks of things due to having two games against Aberdeen in the space of 4 days and trying to help fans afford both games here. Ours is in November at the start of the expenses around Xmas.

Well Chief Operating Officer Alan Burrows: “We have been presented with an unusual anomaly with two games against Aberdeen in the space of four days, both live on BT Sport.

“After positive discussions yesterday, underlining the good relationship that exists between both clubs, we have agreed these various measures to try and make it as affordable for fans both at that double-header and the game at Pittodrie in November, which is the start of a fairly long run of away games for our supporters.

“It’s the first League Cup Quarter Final we’ve been involved in since 2013, so everyone is very much looking forward to the game and hopefully we can continue the positive vibe that is around the club at the moment with a big crowd on the night.”

  11. I'm just waiting for the "why did we only sign him for one year?"complaints.

I saw a story the other day where he says he's happy here and wants to stay longer.... so maybe something can still be done.

I'll find it and post it..

Cedric Kipre: I loved atmosphere against Rangers and want to stay longer at Motherwell Cedric Kipre goes in to challenge Rangers' two-goal hero Graham Dorrans (Pic by Alan Watson) CRAIG GOLDTHORP Email Published: 12:06 Wednesday 09 August 2017 0 HAVE YOUR SAY Motherwell centre back Cedric Kipre feels that his new club should have beaten big guns Rangers rather than crashing to a 2-1 defeat in Sunday’s entertaining Scottish Premiership opener. Summer signing Kipre (20), who joined Motherwell from Leicester City, was upset that the Steelmen lost to a disputed penalty kick by Graham Dorrans in a game in which the Steelmen missed some good scoring chances. “I don’t think it was a penalty,” said the Frenchman a few minutes after the final whistle. “I didn’t look at the images properly, but I don’t think the ref was on our side today. “I think we played very well. Especially at the end. We deserved the three points. “All of us are very disappointed because I think we put a good performance in. “There are a lot of positives to take from today. “That’s why we were all disappointed because we feel we could have had a better result.” Kipre never made a senior appearance for Leicester, who paid £70,000 to take him from Paris St-Germain in 2014. But the youngster has already impressed fans with his no nonsense style and was man-of-the-match against Rangers in front of a raucous crowd of nearly 10,000 at Fir Park. “It was my league debut today so I’m very happy to get man-of-the-match,” he added. “The atmosphere today was amazing. The best I’ve ever experienced as a player. “It was the first time for me to play in front of lots of people like that. “So it was very good, I loved it.” Paris-born Kipre told the Times and Speaker that he’s happy at Motherwell and open to staying at the club beyond the expiry of his one-year contract. Kipre and his Motherwell mates are now preparing for their second round Betfred Cup clash at Scottish Premiership rivals Ross County tonight (Wednesday). The Steelmen go into the tie having qualified from Group F with a 100 per cent winning record. Kipre added: “We need to focus, forget everything about today, train hard and take all the positives from today. “We need to win on Wednesday to get to the quarter-finals and then hopefully keep winning.” Motherwell will again bid for their first league win at St Johnstone this Saturday.

  12. Well now that Blyth is out the door, does that make room for Tuton? Apparently not.....

Robbo: Motherwell won't be signing Barnsley striker Shaun Tuton

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson has told the Motherwell Times that the Fir Park club's interest in Barnsley striker Shaun Tuton is over.

Tuton (25) scored as a Motherwell trialist in the 2-0 friendly win at Stirling Albion on July 1, but didn't do enough to earn a contract with the Scottish Premiership club.
With Louis Moult, Ryan Bowman, Alex Fisher and George Newell to pick from, the Steelmen already have good options in the striking position and so any move for Barrow loanee Tuton is off the table.
Robinson said: "We won't be moving any further with Shaun Tuton. We have four strikers.
"Shaun did well as a trialist but I didn't feel he was better than what we had.
"We would need to move people out before getting any more forwards in.
"We are trying to wheel and deal as we speak.
"If we manage to get a couple of people out we have our eyes on lots of targets. But we are not able to do anything at the minute."
One player who also won't be appearing for Motherwell any more is Jacob Blyth, who has been released just a few weeks after making front page national newspaper headlines about his alleged debauchery while on holiday with his reality TV star girlfriend.
Robbo told the Motherwell Times on Tuesday that no fresh offers had been received in recent days for the much sought after Moult, the subject of a recent near £400,000 bid from Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen which was rejected by the Motherwell board.
The Fir Park gaffer also said that there had been "no chance" of striker Scott McDonald re-signing for Motherwell after the collapse of his expected move to Australia this summer; McDonald has subsequently signed for Scottish Championship outfit Dundee United.
And the 42-year-old Northern Irish boss said that Motherwell defensive stalwart Stephen McManus faced a battle to get back into the starting 11 as players like Cedric Kipre, Ben Heneghan and Cahrles Dunne were currently ahead of him in the pecking order.
"Stephen is just coming back from injury and needs to fight to get back into the team," Robinson said.
"Other people are ahead of him.
"I have a brilliant relationship with Stephen. He is a massive help and has a great relationship with the younger players."
Robinson was speaking ahead of Motherwell's crunch Betfred Cup second round tie at Ross County tomorrow night (Wednesday).
'Well are going into the clash buoyed by how well they played in the 2-1 Scottish Premiership defeat against Rangers on Sunday, when they were victims of a controversial Rangers penalty award, denied a clear penalty of their own for handball and missed several scoring opportunities.
"We were pleased with the level of performance against Rangers," Robbo said.
"But we weren't pleased with the result.
"We felt we deserved a lot more. We didn't take our chances and decisions went against us.
"We need to take that into Ross County and make sure we get the result. We are confident of doing that."
