  1. Me neither. He's a classic example of a player coming in, doing a decent job (didn't he basically play for free until he got his contract?), giving the fans a magic moment up at Aberdeen and then a couple of months later, when he's been playing out of position in a poor team, he's suddenly the worst player ever. He's a decent squad player and even if you think Josh Law is a better right back, which is debatable, you'd have to be a loony to think Law was better in midfield. Reid gave some excellent performances there which, as is usually the case, is all to easily forgotten by some.
  2. We weren't 11th when he was dropped. Might need to re-think that comment Kmcalpin.
  3. We don't need someone that can play at right back, centre half or in midfield, is 6'2, fairly mobile and has a bit more technique than the average SPFL player?
  4. Jackson Irvine has proved himself at this level more than any of the guys we are signing from non league football in England. I've liked the look of him any time he's played against us.
  5. Obedeyi and Higginbotham wide, Scott Robertson, Jamie Hamill and Craig Slater in the middle. Looks pretty decent to me. Mark Connolly would walk into our back four no problem and they have two goalkeepers who are arguable as good if not better than anyone we have. I think Greg Kiltie will step up this season, I quite like what I've seen of him. And Kris Boyd will score 15 goals next term. The biggest question mark for me about Kilmarnock is, is Gary Locke a good enough manager?
  6. We also have quite difficult opening fixtures.
  7. Not really a fan of the sash but otherwise both look decent. Away strip is basically the same as an old Pony strip from the mid 1990s.
  8. It's difficult to make predictions at this time as one signing or one player leaving can make a big difference in a league where there isn't really a lot between most of the teams and margins are small. However I'd be surprised if Motherwell make the Top 6 this season. We might have cuffed Rangers but I think that fact may be obscuring the real facts about our performances last season. They weren't very good for long spells including under Baraclough. We seem to be signing players for non league football in England and while I fully acknowledge there may be good players down there I do think that it is a risk as in my mind it is quite a big step up to the Scottish Premiership. We will need these players to make the jump or we could struggle for goals, as two of them are strikers. Right now I think we have a decent enough first 11 but we are struggling squad wise and heavily reliant in young players to step in if there are injuries or suspensions. I'd expect Celtic, Aberdeen, Inverness, St. Johnstone to make the Top 6 leaving only 2 spots for the rest of the league and I'm doubtful if we will be one of them. Right now, I just hope we improve on last seasons performances and a 7th or 8th placing clear of the relegation zone would not be the end of the world.
  9. Seems like if you've actually scored goals for us people slate you. Clarkson has over 50 goals for us and was a player of the year in previous seasons. Meanwhile we sign someone no one had ever heard of from the depths of English football and its all "sounds good" and "could have potential!". I have no idea what kind of player Wes Fletcher is but what about giving Clarkson, who's actually earned it in claret and amber, the same benefit of doubt.
  10. Chalmers is clearly back up to Hammell. Looks like Fletcher will be a first pick based on his squad number.
  11. The kind of signing a manager lives or dies by. It works out he's plucked a diamond from obscurity. It doesn't work out, we don't score goals and our season is probably fucked up.
  12. About the same as Erwin's then?
  13. You'll be out your seat when he scores next season. Cheer up.
  14. I reckon a lot of people on here don't realise David Clarkson is 2 years younger than Scott McDonald.
  15. The area I worry about most is central defence. Right now we have McManus and that's it and as far as I can see there isn't even much coming through the youth development in that position with maybe the exception of Luke Watt. Kerr, Laing and O'Brien all left. I think we need to replace all three. On Clarkson, I was always a fan of him, even when others were getting on his back. However there were some mixed reports on him from Dundee fans last season and the fact they released him maybe tell's you something. Surprisingly he's still in his 20's (just) so he should still have some gas in the tank. Hopefully he'll start off where he left off for us.
  16. If you have someone like Ainsworth scoring that many goals in a non striking position why would you move him? I'm guessing its a lot easier to find a striker thats scores 10 goals a season than a wide midfield player that scores the same number. Ainsworth is a natural goalscorer and strikes the ball superbly I don't see why if he can improve his consistency of performance and number of starts in the team why he can't get even more goals per season like Jamie Murphy was doing latterly from a wide position.
  17. I fancy it to be McDonald signing on. Which will obviously be a real coup.
  18. Jordan White might be an interesting one. Scored a lot of goals for a struggling Livingston team last season. I believe he is also quite a big lad in the Lee Erwin mold. Certainly has a bit of physical presence about him.
  19. Got mine today as well. A bit annoying that the books aren't ready though.
  20. First five fixtures against teams I'd expect to be Top 6. On the up side if we can do well in those matches we are set up for a decent start to the season.
  21. Going by what was said on the Radio Clyde interview George Long is the primary goalkeeping target.
  22. I started doing these when they stopped publishing the Scottish Football League Review, so I should have sheets going back till then. My early efforts are on old Excel versions and are quite primitive looking. If you are interested PM me and I'll see what I can do but I need to organise my computer a bit better cos they are all over the place!
  23. I was always consistent. I wanted Rangers in the play off Final because they were a rotten team who had collapsed when the chips were down time and time again. The margin of the victory was greater than I expected but as I said at the time I was pretty confident we could win at Fir Park even if we came into the tie with anything from a 0-1 deficit upwards.
  24. Been slowly trying to scan my programme collection. Only just started though and there are still many, many boxes.
  25. Euro goals aren't a concern next season! I meant league goals of course.
