  1. My big Rob McKinnon memory is him absolutely leathering a free kick in up at Pittodrie. As mentioned in the podcast, he should have won a lot more caps, a better player than, say, David Robertson.
  2. Lee Erwin is going to be 22 next season. He might not have 70 or 80 games under his belt but he's no kid. I've said it before but the older a player gets, the less potential they have, the less appeal they have to buying clubs. Any good young players we bring through should probably be getting moved on around the 21 - 22 age limit if there are buyers out there.
  3. Accies have done well by it. As for Erwin, think it's best for both player and club. Would be silly to turn down a three year contract on good money. And Motherwell get a six figure sum for a player with basically about 6 months first team experience. As I said earlier in this thread I'd like to think we would re-invest at least some of the money. £50k, £100k.
  4. I think we need to budget for paying transfer fees every season. It doesn't have to be huge amounts of money maybe £50,000 - £100,000 per season. That would enable us to bring in a player with potential every season like we have with Johnson. There is just too much competition for end of contracts as we've seen with Durnan with lots of clubs circling around players who have been identified as being able to step up a level. Of course it's easier said than done to put aside the money but at the end of the day we are primarily a football club and we need to focus on being success on the field and selling players on.
  5. It's a market I think we need to be much more active in. Not an Alloa expert by any means but I was really impressed by Daryl Meggatt when I saw him in the play offs. Put in the best goal saving defensive tackle I saw all season and stood out generally. Dundee snapped him up. Will be interesting to see how he does in the top league next season.
  6. They don't make defenders like that anymore. Pure granite. Having said that you thought he'd already lost his pace when he came up here.....until he actually lost his pace!
  7. For stattos or anyone interested really. All the results, attendances, scorers, line ups, booking and red cards, referees, weekly league positions, form, player appearances and goals for Motherwell and all the other Premiership and Championship clubs. Also an A-Z player directory for all Premiership and Championship players with date of birth, position, squad numbers, clubs, transfer and loans, season stats and career stats. http://www.filedropper.com/spfl20142015season-excelworksheet Have a few ideas for 2015/16, so I'll try and cram even more information in.
  8. Strachan more or less said he wasn't playing at a high enough level in League 1.
  9. He's not allowed to retire until he hits the 500 league appearances.
  10. Don't know much about Chalmers except he'd made a handful of appearances in the Celtic team. Don't think he managed a first team appearance this season though. Marcus Fraser has done well leaving Celtic to go to Ross County and I've always liked the look of Jackson Irvine so if Chalmers can make the same kind of impact for us as those players that can only be a good thing.
  11. This season was quite incredible when you look at it. Most of the top 6 clubs really struggled in the second half of the season. Dundee Utd, Dundee, Hamilton. Kilmarnock who started well went into free fall and even Inverness had a poor spell only winning once between February and May. The way the league finished there were actually two teams in the bottom six with more points than the bottom team in the top six.
  12. David Ferguson wasn't getting a game at Alloa so I doubt he's ready to step up for us.
  13. I mind someone came on here and said that Baraclough had fallen out with Vigurs due to him being late for training and he'd never play for Motherwell again. Well, Vigurs never played for Motherwell again so maybe there was something in that one...
  14. All the incidents that happened in the match made it a better and more exciting spectacle. Fact. The problem with football is so many people are determined to make it as bland as possible and then wonder why the public isn't interested in it any more. At the end of the day no one got really hurt and they were never likely to, provided the two supports were kept separated. As for Lee McCulloch and Lee Erwin, players get much worse injuries, probably every week someone gets stretcher off. Stephen McManus did a lot more damage to Alan Gow a few weeks back than anything that happened at Fir Park at the weekend.
  15. I liked Vigurs as well and I'm a bit disappointed he's on the way. However I disagree with you that he would never fit into Baraclough's system. For me, he fits into Baraclough's system more than he did McCall's.
  16. Or maybe they were just annoyed at being ignored. Ever manager has favourites and players they sideline. It's part of the game but if it was you or me we'd probably be annoyed if we felt we didn't get a fair crack. For me Carswell blew it getting sent off within minutes against Partick. But for me the problem with players like Carswell is they are all hard work and no ability.
  17. We all know Ainsworth is hugely frustrating but if anyone knows a wide mid right player who is affordable with that pace and ability to strike the ball, and who will score 10+ goals every season without even starting half the matches, then you are welcome to pitch in with suggestions! I'd be eager to keep him even although I know he is going to be useless about 50% of the time. The game is all about goals and wee Lionel has them in his boots.
  18. Vile sub human scum. Having said that if you ever need directions to Alloa, you know who to ask.
  19. The police just aren't interested in doing anything other than collecting their extortionate tax payer provided OT. Don't have much time for the polis anyway as on the four or five times I've dealt with them I've been treated like a criminal rather than a victim or a reporter of crime but the away match at Accies just a few weeks ago confirmed they are mostly just clowns, unable to stop any actual trouble, while acting the hard man and trying to intimidate ordinary supporters.....or just looking gleekit and pocketing the dough. Since they are a complete waste of time they shouldn't get a penny of the clubs money and if there are public order issues, isn't that what they get paid for in the first place?
  20. That sort of behaviour is not on in my opinion but to be fair to Erwin he was one of the first to run over to congratulate Sutton. Also, wee Lionel should get a medal instead of a ban for taking on a giant ghoul like Mohsni!
  21. No coincidence that the absolute cuffings stopped when Laing came in. Thought he did very well under pressure at Ibrox and yesterday and seems to have a decent understanding with McManus. Could do worse than to bring him in permanently. Still young with the potential to develop.
  22. Listening to the Sportsound podcast now. Poor wee Chick sounds absolutely suicidal. EDIT. And Stuart McCall sounds absolutely deluded.
  23. Is Keith Lasley going to come in and overshadow him by doing a much better speech?
  24. Ongoing basis? Getting them in a cup is a 41/1 chance.
