I think any player that has 3 shite games for Motherwell over a 40 match season is probably a stick on for Player of the Season.
-
Home is basically not bad at all - wee bit too much superfluous trim but other than that no complains. Away strip I'm not too sure about to be honest.

Lasley has been our best and most consistent performer over the season. Probably next I'd have Sutton and not just for his goals. In third place I'd have Ian Vigurs, took a wee while to settle in but has generally been very good over the last 6 months or so and is a bit of a class act when he's on his game.

Randolph was superb, he literally made a handful of mistakes in three seasons. Ruddy on the other hand let in some real howlers at times especially after he came back for his second loan spell. One that springs to mind was in the 6-6 draw that would have got a Nielsen and probably a Hollis jeered off the park. Randolph for me was the best goalkeeper I've seen at Fir Park in what's now 4 decades of watching the team so Hollis has had a hard act to follow and I think he's suffered due to the comparison. I'd be fine with him being the no.1 next season but what I'm not fine with is him being no.1 next season and missing 2/3rds of the matches through injury.

Standard wage seems to be $48,500. Wouldn't mind it myself but not a lot in the football world. Guessing most established first team players in the Scottish Premiership would be on at least twice than much.
-
I agree it look innocuous at first but you can always tell when a player isn't faking when they lie still. And he was lying still for a long time. Referee should have stopped the match long before he did.
-
That was outrageous. Moore was lying there for about 5 minutes before he got treatment.

Didn't seen many polis at the match yesterday - the biggest waste of money in football. So stewards are preferable if we have to have them. I also don't see any harm on kids running on the pitch at the end of the season as long as it is all in a good spirit. In the past we've had an undesirable element trying to goad opposition fans and players but from what I saw last night it was just kids running around - hardly a big problem. There were a few adults though......

Jennings isn't even the type of player we need. We have Lasley, Carswell, Leitch, Vigurs and Lawson who can all play in central midfield. We need to replace Ainsworth and I think we will....with Ainsworth. We could do with a Jamie Murphy type player. Someone that can play off the left with a bit of pace and trickery. Francis-Angol hasn't done too badly recently but I don't think his performances have been strong enough over the course to think of him as an automatic first choice. We'll probably have to replace Hutchinson with a new centre half. If Reid comes in next season he can cover in a few positions. I don't actually see many changes for next season, I think most of the guys out of contract will sign on again and most of the players we'd want to move on are contracted another year. We could do with two or three new faces just to freshen up the squad though.

Like a lot of players Lasley has looked a bit tired towards the end of the season but that's a general squad problem and not specific to Keith Lasley. For me he was our best and most consistent performer this season and I'm sure he can play another two years at this level. If we don't offer him a deal, he'll be playing against us next season because I'm sure most of the clubs in this division would love to have him.
-
Keith Lasley. Held us together under intense pressure. Since I won't be at the Aberdeen game and that's my lot for 2013/14 Lasley also wins my overall MotM awards for the season 5 - Keith Lasley 3 - Ian Vigurs 2 - Stephen McManus, John Sutton, Shaun Hutchinson, Jack Leitch. 1 - Henri Anier, Simon Ramsden, Fraser Kerr, Lionel Ainsworth, James McFadden, Stevie Hammell.
-
Bringing Kerr on was a disastrous substitution. Let's be honest we weren't much good before then but after then the entire shape of the team was wrong and there were gaps all over the place. A penalty, an OG and a bounce off the post that went the right way. We were very lucky tonight.
-
If we'd drawn that match we wouldn't have deserved the point!
-
Great achievement. Might even score a goal next time!
-
There will be 3 Albanian teams in the first round if we finish 3rd. No Flamurtari Vlore though.
-
They'll all be part of Russia by the time the draw comes round.
-
ICTs away record is quite good but they don't often score more than one goal so I think if we can get a goal ourselves we should, fingers crossed, at least confirm our European place.
-
Twardzik was 2nd choice at Dundee for most of the season and keep out by Kyle Letheren who apparently had a very good season. If you are the second choice keeper and the 1st choice is having a stormer of a season you aren't going to get many opportunities. If we had your 2nd favourite Motherwell keeper ever behind Darren Randolph for the last few seasons he probably wouldn't have got many games.
-
Dan Twardzik made the best save I've seen this season from open play against Partick Thistle. The Nielsen's penalty save might equal it though. I can't help but notice our goals conceded has gone into melt down since Simon Ramsden got injured in January. In fact in his last five matches played we kept four clean sheets. Since then we've only got one clean sheet. Over the season we averaged 1.16 goals conceded with Ramsden starting and 2 goals conceded when he's missed out. If you exclude the 5-0 drubbing by Celtic we actually only conceded 16 goals in 17 Ramsden starts, against 38 conceded in the 19 without him. Might just be a coincidence....or it might not.

I like Ramsden a lot but with his injury record and the fact that he's getting on a bit (33 next season) I think we might not want to go into the season looking at him as being a first choice centre half. My preference would be for Ramsden at right back, a new centre half (assuming Hutchinson is away and McManus signs up again) with Reid as a good squad player providing cover for a couple of positions.

Not the most reliable source. From Pie and Bovril, regarding Kenny Miller. "My brother text me at 8am this morning, he does coaching in Vancouver. He was out with Carl Robinson last night and he told my brother. Aberdeen, Dundee United and Motherwell all sniffing around Also been confirmed by the Whitecaps he's been released now."
-
I think it goes beyond our tactics though. Don't know if he has been a little bit naive stepping up a level and been caught out by the pace of the game or if his positional sense isn't what it could be sometimes. He can definitely play right back and do relatively well there but it looks to me like a central position is more a 'natural' fit for him.

Might be difficult to get families out for a midweek match so I doubt if we'd get anything like the crowd we got on Saturday. Looking forward to this match. Don't think I will make it to Aberdeen so this will probably be my last view of Motherwell 2013/14 and hopefully we can pick up the 3 points and take it to the final game. Inverness aren't in the best form (2 wins from 11) but they draw a lot of games so I don't think they will be push overs. Ryan Christie has recently pushed himself into the first team and he's looked a decent player for me. Might need to keep an eye on him.
