  1. I saw Frank Lampard in the Rex. Obviously thinks he can eat whatever he likes now it looks like he's moving down a level.
  2. The only one I'm not sure about is Billy Mackay. Started the season superbly but went right off the boil after Butcher left. He only score 4 of his 18 league goals in 2014.
  3. Would not touch McPake with the proverbial barge pole. I'd take Clancy, who has been released by St.Johnstone, back before McPake.
  4. I think we would have been defensively better this season if Hollis, Ramsden and Carswell had been ever presents. Instead they missed long spells, including some where all three overlapped in their absence.
  5. Remember when Butcher inexplicably wouldn't give him a game? Remember when he almost joined Kilmarnock? Remember when Gannon inexplicably wouldn't give him a game? There's been a few close calls down the years!
  6. The strategy shouldn't be to attract players, it should be to make players.
  7. Ideally we'd be looking to offer Vigurs and Sutton 2 year contracts now. Might not be financially possible though.
  8. We had Randolph on a three year contract and couldn't sell him.
  9. I think our attendances have dropped a bit but not radically but I think we probably get a lot of kids in on free season ticket books. Away supports have gone down badly and the teams in the league currently aren't ones that are going to bring a lot of fans. Rangers would probably bring 10,000 fans to Fir Park in a season, Ross County probably didn't even bring a 1,000 over the two matches for instance. In fact it's only really Celtic, Aberdeen and Partick that brought significant supports to Fir Park last season.
  10. I would like to see an outline of income and expenses to see exactly why these losses are occurring, rather than just general figures.
  11. Strong possibility. I'd be surprised if McCall ditched a guy that started and finished the season as no.1 but it's a bit of a risk as Nielsen could just do a Bobo and sit tight. Maybe something is already in the pipeline as regards Nielsen.
  12. Ross Stewart was also out of contract but yeah, not looking good for Hollis right at this moment.
  13. A £1 contract wouldn't be the cheap option over letting someone go. O'Brien's on this third contract at Barnsley. McCourt lasted one season.
  14. And yet O'Brien is offered a new contract and McCourt gets shown the door.
  15. Off the top of my head I think he left while Brown was in charge. Might be wrong though. I've never seen him play but from what I've read on the internet Josh Law is a defensive midfielder/defender!
  16. The lack of momentum is because there are only so many people how can put in the minimium of £300 on top of season tickets and other costs. I think we've more or less reached the limit there. I doubt there will have been many people who could put this money in who have been holding off.
  17. Would be pleased to get O'Brien back, still only 27.
  18. Others have put a positive spin on the statement but it deeply concerns me that in one of the most successful periods in the clubs history we have posted three annual losses of considerable magnitude. Are we one or two poor seasons away from another administration? I'm not a member of the Well Society but I probably put about £500 a year into the club and I can't afford any more. In fact if every Motherwell supporter put that much money into the club our turnover would be 4 times higher than it is.
  19. How many people would have rated a player that Morton let go? Van Zanten wasn't that bad a player, he was a youth player at Celtic and he's played roughly 200 times in the top league for St. Mirren and Hibs, but he's getting towards the end of his career and will probably be moving down rather than up.
  20. Gary Mackay-Stevens was plucked from a pretty poor second division Airdrie team.
  21. Coll Donaldson also went down south from Livingston during the window and as you say McNulty looks like he's going to Sheffield Utd. Accies have a few good players - Darian McKinnion and Tony Andreu for starters. Morton had an appalling season and I've not seen him play this term but I've always been impressed with Fred Bachirou when I've seen him in the past. I hear a lot of good things about Andy Geggan at Dunfermline but I've not seen him. Also heard good things about the lad McGrandles at Falkirk.
  22. Wasn't it Botev Plovdiv supporters that were naughty boys at the Bulgarian Cup Final and set the stadium on fire? Might not be the best trip for those traveling.
  23. Pretty much agree with this. I think the sadness is that he didn't quite live up to not just his first spell at the club but the beginning of the second spell where I thought he was superb. Unfortunately injury took its toll on him and we probably couldn't justify spending that amount of money for the end return. When McCall says "We have five different options in that position and need to utilise the budget in other areas of the squad" it's pretty clear that the signing of Anier on a longer term contract has meant McFadden was no longer affordable.
  24. About attracting away fans I've said before you should be able to buy a 'season ticket' for away matches. Not many fans are going to be able to go to every away match but say the 'season ticket' has 5 or 10 tickets in it that can be used at any non ticket match at a slightly reduced cost. I went to one away match last season but if I could pay upfront say £75 for 5 away entries over the season I'd probably do so.
  25. The first thing Scottish football has to do is to stop flagellating itself because it doesn't compare to the big Five. We will never get any where comparing ourself with England. There wasn't much between English and Scottish football before the television era but that time will never come back.
