    In's And Out's

It's possible, though I don't know this for certain, that the number 10 shirt will not be reallocated.
  2. Hammell was quite bad today, I'd agree. In general, I think he's a decent enough player when he has the ball and quite a poor one when he doesn't.
  3. If Forbes keeps going at this rate, we'll all be struggling to remember all of his goals!
  4. His volley against Steaua Bucharest wasn't too bad though, was it?
  5. 100% correct. Whilst there's always a feeling that we 'could do better' at times, our recent history easily stands comparison with most other periods in the last 123 years.
  6. We've been over-reliant on forwards (albeit some very good ones, who have delivered the goods) for some time. By nature, most of their goals - the occasional screamer aside - will be from inside the box. Goals from midfield have been rare in recent years, but Ross Forbes has already scored more goals this season than Stephen Hughes (for instance) managed in two years, and three of these have been absolutely stunning long range efforts.
  7. Quite a few from the Fife area and at least one from Dundee.

    Canterbury

Really like the new top, one of the best we've had in years. Payday purchase for me, I reckon.
  9. Yes, 7 or 8 minutes. Some, though not many, fans left at that point. Jim Duffy was sacked by Hibs in the wake of this result which paved the way for Alex McLeish to replace him.
  10. I agree. I'm always slightly bewildered by fans who boast that they travelled abroad and didn't get arrested or that they got on with people from another country. Isn't that how you're meant to behave? You're right, some supporters have such a sense of entitlement that they think simply behaving like reasonable human beings is an achievement worthy of admiration.
  11. Really enjoyed speaking to some of the Steaua fans after the game last night, some good guys there. I'll keep an eye on their progress in the Europa League.
  12. His last goal certainly, but he played a few more games before the end of that season.
  13. 0-2 against Hibs in 1998, won 6-2. I can't recall us coming back from three-down though.

    Murphy To Accies ?

Can anyone clarify: have Accies made a bid for Jamie Murphy?
  15. I'm glad you got here before I did. I was about to tell everyone about some massive turnips.

Here's a good article about Mowgli, written by Graham Spiers: http://timesonline.typepad.com/thegame/200...ssic-mould.html
  17. Walked it once, I think. It's quite a straightforward route but takes the best part of an hour. A taxi is definitely the best option.

To return some dignity to the discussion, David Clarkson offers his thoughts on Paul McGrillen: http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/sport/Clar...l-to.5514760.jp

I admit that when I heard the news my initial thought was something along the lines of "not again". Very sad to hear this. Mowgli was one of my favourites from the Motherwell side I watched as a teenager. I had the pleasure of watching him tear Cumnock apart in the Scottish Junior Cup final last year as well - he didn't look any older than when he played for us. Just very sad news.
  20. Andy Paton is a legend. Us Motherwell fans in Fife have had the pleasure of getting to know him since he moved up this way a few years ago. An absolute gentleman.
  21. How did the Duchess get on with halting that TV series anyway?
  22. Was it not the case that we were nine up at half-time in that Falkirk game?
  23. Suspect Device - yeah, a lot of John Peel's appeal was how ordinary he was. I spent much of my teenage years listening to his show and loved the fact he was able to just play something because he happened to like it. He kind of wanted you to like it too, but wouldn't have been offended if you didn't. It was a welcome break from most other radio presenters who would plug certain songs to death and attempt to play the role of arbiter of what was good and what wasn't. I'm definitely drawn towards people who have simple passions the way Peel did; people who know their stuff but don't bore you with it. The fact he appears to have had a soft spot for Motherwell just makes him more of a legend in my eyes!
  24. Spot on. I find the SPL dull beyond words and without my attachment to Motherwell, I'd have no interest in it whatsoever. Despite having Setanta last season, I can't think of a single occasion when I sat and watched a live game on TV. We play the same teams so often that we almost know as much about them as we do about Motherwell. For that reason, I like pre-season friendlies, even if the quality of football is sometimes dubious, simply because they involve teams, players and venues that are usually unfamiliar. The same applies to those rare occasions when we draw an unfamliar side in one of the cups - being drawn against Inverurie Locos created a lot more excitement than St Mirren would have, for instance. To have European football, playing three clubs none of us knew much about, at this time of the year is wonderful.

...and about 50% of currently active footballers since Tony Mowbray took the Celtic job, if the press are to be believed.
