Ive got to the stage I dont particularly care or worry about who we are playing.

If we play well and up to the same high standards we have set all season Im pretty confident we will get a positive result.

The fact the game is at home and against a team struggling at the wrong end of the league means we should definitely be targetting 3 points here.

Depending on fitness / availability Id probably play without a striker again as it causes opposing teams all so

rts of problems due to our movement.

A wee cameo for the big Viking off the bench will do fine.....

                                Ward

    Johnny       SOD McGinn    Longelo

           Slattery Priestman Fadinger

           Maswanhise   Just     Said

This team but Sparrow for Johnny & Gordon for Sods

  2. Mystic Me - I've predicted Ross County & Aberdeen draws so far - I think  that's 465-1.

But there's more to the gut feel
Ross County - Expected to see Kettlewell back
Aberdeen - expected us to get the hardest non-OF team left.
Hopefully I can get another shot next round.

He’s 36 and probably looking for way more than we can pay him. He’s on 7K a week and turned down offers of around 20K a week from Milwall and Middlesbrough. Plus we Would have to pay a transfer fee to get him from a club who really don’t want to sell him. So I  not sure why he would be linked to Motherwell. .

I agree with the wages/transfer fee part no doubt and I don't think it will happen at all.
But would I have him - undoubtedly

Just adding my own perspective on longelo as think he’s a decent player .

Personal view is the left hand side of the pitch is an area we lack balance , therefore quite a bit of expectation for longelo to cover a lot of ground . Particularly today where rangers are pretty strong on their right hand side .

for contrast on the right we have JK but he’s supported by Said , Just and Sparrow who have a tendency to be on the right .

The times longelo has been at his best he has RCC on the left to support him .

Appreciate we all see the game differently - just wanted to chuck my 2 cents in .

Overall key that we find a different striker if we want to kick on and get top 4

    Really good post.

Longelo like Stevie hammell of old had to make up for the ineffectual Said today (in terms or tracking and physicality) covering masses of space.

Said and even more so Osong don't fit into JBA's style of play. Charles Cook is a far more physcial player and would have helped Longelo more today.

Sparrow massively helped Koutroumbis on the other side.

  5. I'm not Wellfans biggest advicator in his views "initially"

From Kettlewell to Stam he is proven right in the long haul usually.

The problem I now have with Stam is 2fold - and as an optimist I hope he can sort.

    1. The ball bounces off him one foot every time it is played to him - we don't need someone necessarily that give more goals but what we do need is a striker is who can take the ball in and feed others.

    2. If you listen closely to the coverage the commentator he says AP "was caught in his heels there" -a better aspect is finding someone who isn't

Over to you AP or Wellfan let's see who is right in the long haul.

  6. It's Marcus Aurelius.

"The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane."

(Actually reading that back I've got it wrong - but cannae be bothered deleting it - thought I was clever writing that - back to the bevvy now)

  7. I think he should play the same team that played on Tuesday.

I actually think playing with a central striker worsens the team.

Our best player Priestman on Tuesday, deserves another chance and Koutroumbis gives us more defensive cover.

No changes - which is mental considering we have Slattery and Fadinger.

Football is one of the few major team sports where top refs rarely played professionally. Their perception of the game is completely tainted by a lack of real experience. They don’t fully understand the physicality of the game, how players time tackles, or the split-second decisions on the pitch. In rugby, cricket, or tennis, officials are often ex-players, so they instinctively know what’s fair. VAR only makes it worse, highlighting just how shit Scottish refs really are.

I was good pals with Bobby Madden when I was younger.
He played at a decent level "juniors"
I suppose whether you like him or not was one of the reasons he got up the ladder so highly.

I see where folks are coming from re the European argument. The only game Ive been away to was Athens and although it was sa great trip/experience, the football wasnt great.

I must say, I would love to see how a JBA team gets on in European comptetition. I have a feeling it might be an entirely different experience.

Of course, the League Cup doesnt present that opportunity and Id much rather see us win that than get Europe if it was a straight choice, but why cant we do both?

First things first however, lets get our first league win in the bag and then we can start thinking about the semi-final.

Once we win both cups this argument will be immaterial!!

I saw that but I have no idea what it means? I’m not up on modern jargon. In my day if someone said I “had too much of a load on me” it’d mean I was a fat bas6ard.

im guessing this isn’t what the manager means

Modern manager jargon don't worry about it!

It's just the phases they go through....it's all about momentum.
