  1. Pre season yes. But let’s  not use that as an excuse. Pre season for Queens Park also.

I get that Queens Park beat QOS and they have decent players but we have been awful on the ball.  Had time and space to play some football but we don’t have the quality it would seem.

I thought we would compete for Europe last season. Would love to have average to poor pre season and good league season. Maybe that will happen but on this evidence.....

  2. Early days but Woollery has lost the ball on numerous occasions.

A true reflection of the game would be 3 or 4-1 to Queens Park.

Not sure what game we are trying to play. I would sub half this side now. At least get Donnelly and Van Veen on ASAP.

FFS the pant wetting is starting early this season, 45 mins into the 1st competitive match.

    Are u watching ?

I am Mr Positive normally but the truth is that Queens Park have outplayed us. That is a 1st Division side that have played better football than us all across the park.

Early days yes. And I would expect Donnelly and OHara would start before this midfield but we have been poor tonight.

We need to step it up second half or Queens Park will get a goal that they deserve.

This midfield is miles off it.

Who would have thought with Maguire, Crawford and Cornelius that we would struggle in midfield. Cornelius deserves some leeway but that midfield would get us relegated 100%.

  5. The goal was the only decent play all half. We have been abysmal.

We get the ball and then do pretty much anything but play football. We have the time and space to build up some momentum. But we just don’t seem capable.

  6. We have actually been distinctly average. Queens Park the better side.

Lamie short back pass - tick

    Maguire miss passes - tick

Crawford looking a lower league player - tick.

Kelly - saving our arses yet again - tick

Queens Park are almost a championship side based on investment. But they are showing us up this evening.

Apparently we have some Covid issues. Would explain why no OHara or Shields in the squad.

Burrows seems to be getting a wee bit defensive of the kits on twitter.

The reality is both are absolutely bowfin.

In your opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as the saying goes.

Not overly excited by the home top then I rarely am as they are very similar year on year.

This away top is better than the last two efforts that were black. I also think when people see in the flesh they may come around.

I tend to buy one top every year. Usually one home top every 4 to 5 years. No different this year. I will be sporting the away top.

    Knew that would stir you.

Very few players is of no concern at this time.

Associated with certain players? I get the manager perhaps wanting to work with former charges, I’d expect the recruitment specialist to look beyond players that have been linked with him previously and those who’ve had a good 90 minutes against both.

Success rates? Tripping over those ringing endorsements.

Fair enough.  I agree FWIW.  I would hope that Head of Recruitment is able to look past his previous contacts and players that Alexander knows.

That said part of the reason we no doubt appointed GA is because he would have an awareness of players that could possibly do a job for us in our budget.  So I would be more concerned were that not the case.

Was there due diligence carried out on the Head of Recruitment? Looks to be an easy gig…

On the basis we have signed very few players yet ?

On the basis we are being associated with certain players ?

I am quite sure he would have been vetted based on his previous experience and success rates.  Whether that makes him a success with us remains to be seen.

Here we go again? Bore off.

Read what I replied to? Having just moved his family up into Scotland you would think it would take some offer to undo all that. Just an opinion that I wouldn’t be too sure. Likely profit on property purchase for starters.

I’ve only been consistent in approach, fuck all to do with pissing on chips - there’s plenty to back that up without having to dig very deep.

Certainly with the spine of the team currently gone, it’s a blank canvas for him and his team and as I’ve mentioned elsewhere, hoping recruitment is creative and catches the imagination where the re-hiring has not. Connor Shields a positive start.

The problem here is you come across as a man with inside knowledge. That is clear to everyone on here and you do nothing to dissuade that notion.

So a by product of that is that what you post carries more weight (imho) and an assumption of factual background.

Of course he would go if approached by a bigger club and we received compensation. That is an everyday occurrence for successful Managers so hardly news. My reading of your response is that GA is already agitating to leave.  That may well be the case if he struggles to get any of his targets or realises just how tough it is to attract decent players to Motherwell.

I maybe over reacted.  However I have called you out on your riddles before as they tell us nothing but leave us guessing.

    Here we go again......

You have had a bee in your bonnet re Alexander since pretty much the day he walked thru the door.

Did he piss on your chips ?

Weve offered lafferty a deal according to sun,if true i wonder if that means cole won't be staying.

These things don’t stay secret for too long. Always seems to hit the press within days.....agent at work I wonder...

If true it would be a decent signing. Not the most likeable chap, primarily because he has scored against us many times.

All that said - is it even true we have offered him a deal. I also suspect if he has turned down Killie our wage / contract offer won’t be much more. Maybe he does not want to play in the championship or maybe he would still like to earn £4 or £5k a week. I suspect there will be a club out there prepared to offer more than we can.

We shall see but not too sure this one will get over the line.

I wouldn’t be surprised if tried something a bit off the wall with the new away as our recent second choice tops have been a bit more in the classic mould. So how wacky can we get?

Wacky enough that I will probably buy it.

Funny thing is...for all I love Claret and Amber and dear god I do. I have probably bought the away top 3 or even 4 seasons to 1 for the home top. I like the black, petrol blue, white, all claret tops and all the different away tops.  I have enough C&A tops in leisure wear etc.

I like the home top. White piping and all. But I have a funny feeling like most times I will end up buying the away top since I only buy one a season.

I rate him as 1 options 2-5 are all irrelevant at this time, well for most on the forum  anyway. We can repeat this topic next summer when we can judge him for a full season with his choice of players etc.

    I rest my case....

I think he has done a VERY good job given the circumstances he faced when he came in. To get us from relegation to 8th (effectively joint 7th) was almost as good as he could have achieved. Take Tommy Wright as an alternative example.

I am glad he was appointed and am hopeful he can kick on and get us challenging for top 6 or more probably 6th place.

I've not really read that as the general consensus on here at all. Most have been saying he has done a good job in turning the club around from where we were but the jury is out and he has the big task coming in the summer..... :dontknow:

    Well it is Steelmen Online.

Basically the Manager approval ratings (1-5) goes from:

    1. He is doing an OK job but not convinced yet.

    2. I would not sack him yet.

    3. He coat is on a shoogly peg.

    4. He is utter garbage and has no idea what he is doing.

    5. Sack this buffoon now or I am not going back to Fir Park.

Biggest rebuild will be the dressing rooms as Alexander wants them extended - that’s with a reduced squad too

Good to know and good to see he is prepared to make demands of the club, hopefully within reason. I have been in the home dressing room and was not impressed. Albeit it was over 10 years ago, so don’t know if they have been upgraded since then but I thought it had a feel of a lower or even non league club !

  17. For the previous season. Looks about right. Cannot get over the discrepancy between Celtic and everyone apart from Rangers. They should be winning every game by 5 or 6 goals !!

Most of us are bored with the game if you have info to share on a public forum then share it, if its not for public consumption then don't post anything about it, and we can all get back to making up rumours, it's more fun.

Basically this. Quite honestly say something or don’t say it at all. Becoming tedious and it is not a good look.

We know you have inside knowledge that is clear. Although if I were your source I would be considering what I say and when. CIA it is not.

I have read your last 20+ posts and I am no clearer as to what is happening inside Fir Park.

Quite sure you will come back and say u don’t give a f*ck.  But as you can tell quite a few of us are tired of the I know posts but will share nothing at all unless you are Sherlock Homes

Why would anyone knowingly post a fake news tweet? I don't find it funny and just don't get it.

Nor do I Dave but since we are north of 50.  I assume you are :-)

Maybe someone a bit younger can enlighten us. I suspect it may be down to someone being a bit of a arse.

Kelly would be a great signing. He appears willing to stay. But...

    1. Did they not pay a transfer fee for him ?

    2. He has another year or two in his contract at wages that are likely to be in excess of what we can afford here.

    3. I just saw a clip of Stephen Thompson suggesting his for the Scotland Euro squad. FWIW I agree over McNaughton who has played very few if any competitive games for Rangers ! My point being we may not be the only interested party.

So it may happen, but a few things would need to align very favourably.....

I am going to give lawless the benefit of the doubt, before coming in he had played very little football, he had barely trained either with his injury, he then got injured again when he came in and missed another month or so. He hasn't been great but I will put that down to match sharpness as opposed to him being a dud. Get a good pre season under his belt and we will see a much better player. I am sure of it.

Here here. I was as angry as anyone with him giving the ball away prior to the 2nd County goal. That said Magloire showed his inexperience as he hesitated and stepped forward when a more experienced defender would have seen Gardyne was the threat and closed him down.

I think the last 2 results were a result of a number of factors. Not least missing Campbell’s bite in midfield + dare I say it playing Magloire in front of Gallacher. Not something I would have done regardless the facts that he’s is off to Aberdeen.

I think the Manager made an error there. I understand why but if we were still desperate to finish 7th as he alluded too after the game. Play your strongest team !  I think with a bit more coaching and experience there could be a player in Magloire, but not sure I could take him learning his trade with us. He is like a younger Mugabi. Too many errors.

    Sounds good to me.

Modern managers have to be polished when talking with the press and have to be able to motivate players that carry far more influence than they ever used to (Gallagher possibly being an example). I suppose this is the velvet glove bit.

On the other hand it (pardon the pun) every player in that dressing room has to know who the boss is and who has the control. The iron fist.

I suppose Alex Ferguson was the perfect example of this. He was the alpha male amongst alpha males mixing the hard man with the father figure. Who else could gave managed the likes of Cantona and  Keane? And who else would have backed Cantona in the manner Ferguson did.

Ofcourse GA is no Alex Ferguson but I like the iron fist in a velvet glove analogy.

    Me too.

    Polworth plays the fanny...dropped.

    Gallacher probably plays the fanny...dropped.

About time we had a ruthless (but fair) Manager. I hope this extends to getting rid of perma crocks. We seem to have become a charity for injured players. I get the loyalty angle but we have a small budget as it is. Give them a chance to prove their fitness. If after a reasonable time they don’t then all the very best and good luck thank you.

We need to get beyond the you have been injured for two seasons, but we will give it a little more time nonsense. Harsh as it may come across....

    Good one weeyin.

Strangely I was quite optimistic we would take something from the game even at 2-0 down. I genuinely felt we had some decent chances in the 1st half.

SODs has really come onto a game and was my MOM. Big Devante. Would love to keep him but with goals like that every chance he will earn double his wages at a League One side in Engurland.

A point well earned even if we were average, Actually felt we played better in 1st half than 2nd and yet.....
