  1. After hitting the ripe old age of 22 I've realised I couldn't give a fuck about Slane leaving because we have always coped with losing players. And always will! If by 'being treated better' you mean signing the boy up before he'd even kicked a ball for the 1st team, I think you're asking a lot of the club. It's really really tough to assess whether a guy of 16/17 has a long term future at this level. For any player first team regular or otherwise a five year deal will cost the club a substantial sum of money and if in the end they don't make the grade then it's an expensive waste. I guess that's what the coaching system is all about but when you have the kind of money we do then it's still never easy. The problem isn't players forgetting who brought them through the ranks, Paul Slane could break his leg against Steau and it would be the end of his career. You've got to move up the ladder and take the cash when you get the chance. The problem is the OF waiting in the wings to swoop when these types of guys come through without paying any decent compensation. The loss of 7-8 first team regulars coinciding with Gannon arriving is about as much good luck as Slane will ever have. He's took the chance and if he moves on fair enough. (dunno if I just contradicted myself there but there was a lot of thoughts swirling round!)
  2. I'll always look back favourably on McGhee's time at Motherwell. THAT season was really something else and was comfortably the best football I've seen at Fir Park since I started going. Fair enough he faded and in the end jumped ship, It's annoying but only equally annoying as people who were surprised by this given his previous record. his attitude of 'we are te best on our day' was refreshing, I'd much rather have that than Butcher's 'punching above our weight' pish. I might be going against the grain here but I say Mark McGhee = Good Guy (I also agree we should give it a rest about him the now though, we're on to bigger and better things now!)
  3. Kylie should wheel out this paragraph the next time he says 'nig nog'
  4. Naw he cut his hand on the barbed wire fence and passed out after that. There was no way I was in any nick to be carrying him.
  5. We went back to ours and carried on the party, I was fucked and ended up falling asleep outside. Thank god I drove on the way doon and no the way back. Was nice meeting you mate, cheers for the stellas!
  6. Haha aye mate it was a classic night! I fucking hate beer tae. Enjoy yerself?
  7. Playing him on the left wing is criminal!
  8. Paterson is gone so get fucking over it, I'd prefer Rab McKinnon to be playing left back the now but it's all irrelevant because we only have 1 left back and he's pretty decent at that. How the hell is putting the penalty in the same place naive? If he'd have put it the other way and the keeper had went the same way you could've said 'he was naive for expecting the keeper to dive in the other direction'. Unbelievable.
  9. I agree but I don't think this mob are anywhere near as dangerous as Nancy. We are well capable of beating them or at least scoring at our patch and the amount of criticism for the sake of criticism on here is absolute pish.
  10. Och don't talk pish. We've been beaten 1-0 and it's the same auld shite.
  11. That Flumartari one isnt the best quality. Can hardly even see the ball!
  12. From reading a couple of those links I think the consensus is that he could be a good player if coached properly. Maybe that's why Gannon thought he would get him on board.
  13. I would definitely be up for it, other than the 'Well I couldn't give a fuck about the rest of the SPL. Setanta was balls as well and anyone other than the OF hardly got any coverage.
  14. 'Anything between 1200 and 1500' a was told.
  15. Fraser Saunders Reynolds Craigan Hammell O'Brien Lasley Fitzpatrick Smith Sutton Murphy
  16. See the rule where you couldnae use txt speak/shite punctuation on the old site, that still about nah?
  17. I still think McGhee was a cracking manager for us, but now he's gone it's only natural to rip the piss a bit.
  18. When McLean is on his game, he's a good centre half who came in and played well when Craigan was out. He is very injury prone though and is awful as a full back. No fussed either way to be honest, a decent player but far from irreplaceable.
  19. I think it's amazing how many people think Ritchie Foran was good. An absolute sham of a player who didn't really have any good qualities other than hitting a penalty in the bottom right corner.
  20. Encouraging words from Mr Gannon and I'm a lot more optimistic about the season ahead already. McGhee's critics will be pleased to hear him say that he's more interested in bringing success to the club than raising his own personal profile.
  21. we only ever had 20 managers??
