  1. Bingo. I reckon Hammells attacking attributes far outweigh his defending.

I think any talk of selling anyone at this stage is ludicrous considering our squad size.

Its all very well saying the youngsters can fill the gaps but the minute theres a slump, or 2 goals are conceded in the first 20 mins against the Old Firm, their heads are likely to go down & panic could set in. Players such as Hammell & Lasley have been there done that & a bit of experience....composure even is what is needed in situations like this.

With Gannon showing he's not scared to drop an "established" player they'll know when they have a chance to get back in the starting eleven they'll have to impress.

only thing with hammell is he goes flying down the wing then stops and cuts inside, if only he had the confidence to hit the by-line

  2. The defending second half was comical at times and i thought he was missed as for hammell that moment when the ball was passed to him and he was staring into the crowd and it rolled past him for a throw that was shocking

  3. going by that performance we will need to score 4/5 goals just to win a game.i honestly thought st johnstone were going to score every time they went up the park there will be a lot more grey hairs if we play like that every week but f*** me it beats asda and grandstand on a saturday also why were all the police in the well end the st j fans seemed to have only stewards in their end

  4. His dad is a grade A tosser (garages anyone?) but was a very good player. Maybe Jimbo sees potential in him that Accies failed to see?

All the best to him but I can't see him being a regular starter unless he can play RB!

Seems to have done quite well at Basingstoke last year.

I went to a sportsmans dinner where he was a late stand in speaker, when asked he spoke of enjoying games at fir park and always getting a hard game there

  5. i've no idea what's going on i'm only reading the rumours the same as everyone else.

what i have seen is however is lasley being dropped after playing well in two games for a guy who was/is nowhere near fit. hammell who has over 250 appearances for the club being dropped to fit in a young player who had made one appearance and who's introduction to the team split up craigan and reynold's succesful centreback partnership. neither decision could have been a purely based on form and i don't believe it's attitude either as they've both had ten years or so at the club without any problems. maybe gannon is part of kmckalpin's club and only likes tall football players or maybe he's just determined to play his own guys and make it his team at the expense of everything else.

from what we've heard about freezing out players, fueding with the fans and refusing to talk to sky because of a dispute about his sky box i think we can conclude he has a bit of an ego about him. if this all goes tits up gannon will be off and we would probably be left in a worse posistion than we were in june.

again i'll say reserve judgement til the window shuts and we've played a few spl standard teams but imo right now we're still in a perilous posistion and too many people seem to have gotten a rose tinted view of things from a couple of wins against dire sides and a glamour tie against steaua.

If we take the attitude that these games were glorified friendlies then he could drop players he knew could do a job and try some experimenting to assess his whole squad

  6. Is it not just a requirement for the club to send a representative to to the interview rather than the manager himself.

This exactly why Man Utd used to send Queiroz to BBC Interviews rather than SAF, due to his refusal to do BBC interviews anymore.

    I forgot about fergie

  7. surely that story regarding the dodgy sky box and his refusal to do interviews is a wind up i thought that part of a tv deal was a requirement for managers to do interviews at least it is in the champions league

  8. We need a manager who has a track record of working on a shoestring. An ex Premeirship manager may view a shoestring as being only ably to spend a maximum of £5m on a player - not our definition.

Look at Walter Smith - give him a bigger budget than his rivals and he'll win you trophies. Make it a level financial playing field and he struggles.

I'd love to see top managers like Ferguson, Mourinho and Wenger take charge of smaller clubs with real shoestring budgets and see if they'd swim or sink.

Premiership management is a world away from managing in the SPL or indeed almost anywhere else on the planet. Its not a good yardstick to use.

ferguson at aberdeen mourinho at porto were not exactly big spenders
  9. i feel like am missing something here, think the appointment is really disappointing. many better candidates

We have to remember that they were only candidates because none of them had a job so it must have been a stand out interview that swung it in jim gannons favour
