Yeah, I think it might be a step too far....we've a tough run of games even with the game in hand.
Hearts have Hibs, Thistle, Dundee, Aberdeen
We have Accies, Celtic, Rangers, StJ, Aberdeen (postponed game)
Last 3 years the semi finals have been lunchtime Sat and Sun. With the last 2 years showing old firm on the Sunday. So I think there is a very good chance we'll be the Saturday pick.
I'm in Edinburgh today for work, drove from Uddingston and it's fine. If the Aberdeen v Killie game is on ours willl be on too. Might be a lower attendance but if pitch, main roads and surrounding areas of FP are passable it will be game on.
Everything will be hunky dory come Sunday afternoon. Main roads are fine now, pitch will be playable with the USH. No more snow forecast. Game will be on.
Dunne for me too. Defensively if he keeps this form going he's a huge asset. Strong, fast, tall...just needs to keep the passes simple while he works on it a bit more.
It's been an interesting read post game and actually reflects the discussion I was having with my old man on the way down the round.
Half of us are absolutely disgusted and dissapointed with the result, the tactics, the performance and see a tough bottom 6 end of the season.
The other half saw a promising enough performance, with question marks, against the most inform team in the league and left not too down about things.
Different strokes for different folks!
We definitely had a plan B, which we saw that's all I'm saying. Most definitely went to a back 4. Sitting a handful of rows behind the dugout I heard and saw them rearrange it too. The fact it really didn't change it or was poorly executed with the players at disposal is a different story. Hence my 'pish' comment - in reference to the performance for the avoidance of doubt.
It went to:Cadden, Aldred, Dunne, Tait
Tanner Bigi McHugh Frear
Bowman Main
Grimmy replaced Cadden when he came off injured then Aldred stayed up top for the last 5 minutes or something for the final pish.
Remember when we changed from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2 to try and exploit the wings more? When we stopped playing wing backs and instead had wingers with full backs supporting?
That.
Might not have worked but it was definitely a plan B.
As for the result. I think we've got what it takes and I keep going back to the fact Killie have only won by more than one goal in this run 3 times (twice v Thistle and Brora). It's a great run which has caught the eye mainly because of the results v the old firm. The other games Killie aren't winning by 3 or 4 goals every week.
We're in form and we should be going for the win.
Luckily we have Aldred and Dunne playing really well, so the defence does not overly worry me today even with Kipre and Hartley missing. As others have said, midfield is the battle. Up top we'll be fine too.
From what I can read online the club's were voting at the start of season to lower TV money from £85k to £32k per club when they feature. Balance was distributed to later stages in competition to ensure clubs who lucked out and got a TV game in the early rounds but we're pumped out did not ending up making more money than clubs who weren't televised but exited a couple rounds later. As an aside, the prize money for the Scottish Cup is an absolute rid neck.
