  1. There was one cross that Humphrey put in the first half that was fizzed across the goal that was crying out for someone to connect front post, centre, or back post with no takers. Some of Hately's crosses were woeful. Sutton should be played as target man asz he is stronger with Murphy playing off him or wide. I was also impressed by Smith, he looks big and strong.

    South Stand

I just drove by the ticket office at 2pm and it was mobbed. I remember last year up at Airdrie against Flamurtari, when I left it late before going and when I got there they had just stopped selling tickets. I would go and get my ticket as quickly as possible to guarantee getting in. P.S. Thats just a sun shower.
  3. I have been on holiday? (thats another story, anybody been to Pontins, Southport)? so excuse me for not posting earlier. This is like a new signing. Chapmans Pies are the biz. Another great decision.

    Ins & Outs

I thought he had a good game today. I would welcome him to Fir Park although I think he will go down souf.
  5. My Dad was on National Service with the RAF at the time of the 52 final. So for him to be there in 91 was extra special. (He passed away in 2000).

    Season Tickets

I renewed last week and thought exactly the same. We are quick to criticise but slow to give praise. I paid £275 for myself and 2 children for the Cooper. If we get 18 games that is £15.28 a game. Fantastic value. In the paper yesterday I saw Cowdenbeath season tickets on sale for £220. That is £12.22 a game just for an adult. C'mon Well fans, in this present economic climate I know it is a bit much paying that amount in a one off payment but you can pay it by instalments. Let's get Fir Park jumping for home games.
  7. It is really scary to think that it has been 19 years since our brilliant Scottish Cup win. When we beat Smellic in the Semi Final Replay, (courtesy of Dooooooogie's double, Psycho's 40 yard screamer and Super sub Kirkies clincher). I was counting the minutes until the Final. The night before, I couldn't sleep, despite drinking a copious amount of alcoholic beverages, (to calm the nerves of course ) After about 2 hours sleep it was off to my Dads house where there was my Dad, my uncle, my brother, my nephew and I. All bedecked in Claret and Amber. We had breakfast of black pudding sandwiches and bottles of San Miguel, (Classy and Cosmopilitan) , then it was off to the Dalziel Arms to get the bus to the game. To you guys, who, like me, had witnessed defeat in 5 previous semi finals, getting to the Final was brilliant. The Town Centre was all Claret and Amber. (The council even had a competition for the best dressed shop window in Well colours. and we actually had shops then). We got on the bus and it was like a mass exodus from Motherwell. I think most pubs ran busses and people were getting trains as well (I'll not mention the train that broke down). When we got to Hampden it was absolutely brilliant. The amount of Well fans was phenomenal. The game itself went by in a flash, although a last minute equaliser by Utd was like a kick in the ging gangs. However, Kirkie got the winner in extra time and when Tam Boyd lifted that cup, the tears were flowing (but not flowing as much as the vintage champagne and Buckfast when we got home to Motherwell). The pubs were also selling beer at 1952 prices to recognise our first Scottish Cup win. They were all mobbed and I am sure everyone who was there will have their own memories of a very special weekend and one of the best times of my life. Well done to Dundee Utd the celebrations brought all my memories back of our time as Cup Winners. To all you youngsters who weren't there. When we do get to a Cup Final again, take it all in and savour it. It is the ultimate of being a Motherwell fan. I 'm hiring a limo for the next Cup Final.
  8. Yes, 15th and 22nd of July it is. I come back from my holidays on the 12th of July (and the bands will be playing) I will get the wife drunk on holiday and break it to her that I will be following the Well in europe again. (Cos I am a sh*te bag) WE'RE ALL GOING ON A EUROPEAN TOUR
  9. Aye, with Frank Roy's face on the front. That would make that wee bigot sick.

    All You Fannies

Smith was shite with us, I never had any confidence in him and the game on Wednesday summed him up. Was it McGhee who had us training so that we wouldn't allow crosses into the box or concede corners because the goalie was so bad???? In my opinion if Forbes had scored with the penalty we wouldn't have seen Juicy Fruits scoring that magical goal. No one would have predicted us making that come back, so anyone leaving early would be entitled to, it is a free country. They missed the greatest comeback in history, do you think they liked that????
  11. I hope everybody who decided to go last night, and is not a regular, caught the bug and will be returning to the ark next season. What a game and what a finish, pure entertainment. The game in Scotland has been getting bad press and people think the standard is rubbish. (Both defences last night for example), but it is a spectator sport and everybody got value for money yesterday That game was, without doubt, the most exciting game I have ever been at. (I have supported Motherwell for 43 years) The 91 semi and Final were, obviously, more important and were brilliant games. The 2005 semi was great as well but for sheer edge of your seat stuff and manic celebrations at the end, last night beats them all. We now have the edge over Hibs, I think, psychologically. The interview with Colin Nish showed that they were totally peed off and confidence is shot. It will be difficult at Greyskull but we showed a tremendous amount of determination and never say die attitude last night that says to me that we could get a result. Either that or Hibs won't get anything at Tannadice. We can still do this. EUROPE HERE WE COME

    Hi Tamy,

did you mean me when you asked how G was?

If so, I went to Jack Daniels pub after the game so i'm a bit hungover still

  13. Big John has been brilliant this season. Even when he has been playing left side of midfield his work rate has been immense. The 2 goals last night were great but too late for player of the year as John Ruddy got it a couple of weeks ago.
  14. Just had my dinner and getting ready to head down to JD's. I have not been so excited about a game in years, (the Aberdeen game 2 years ago). I hope it will be a good game and we go for it from the start. Ruddy Saunders Craigan Reynolds Hammell O'Brien Hately Coke Sutton Juke Murphy My only concern would be left side of midfield. Might be better with JOB out left, Humphrey on the right with Sutton up front with Lucas. Murphy can come on if we need someone to run at the defence. Whatever the team, whatever the formation this is the 4th place decider, Europa Cup qualification for the 3rd year in a row. This is my Motherwell, this is your Motherwell THIS IS OUR MOTHERWELL C'MON THE WELL

    Mark Reynolds

I agree, I think Joe Wark was only booked once in his career, or sent off once, can't remember, too excited. (wee 4th place decider at Fir Park) Mark Reynolds will leave us with all the Well fans' good wishes. He knows the score, he saw the way Faddy left compared to the way Pearson left and knows how he wants to be remembered. He's a nice guy and a great player who will go on to greater things. I hope he gets a belter of a move.
  16. This is a great chance for us to finish 4th and qualify for Europa League. Wednesday night is the culmination of a long frustrating roller coaster season, (Well fans don't know any other way). I think that we have a good, young squad and they know the chance of glory is here, I also think we will soundly beat Hibs. As a footballer you are playing, not just for the money, but to be successfull and to get into Europe. I am sure when guys like Ruddy, Jennings, Humphrey, Coke, Hateley and Jutckiewitz signed they would never have thought our final home game would be the decider for 4th place. Take all the permutations you like, however, the team and management know that if we win on Wednesday, we finish in 4th and that is it........EUROPE HERE WE COME..... It is our turn to be the 12th man let us get right behind the team from the first second. C'MON THE WELL
  17. Get back to me on Wednesday when we have been victorious This is the new Motherwell, we don't do pessimmism.
  18. Shut tomorrow, I'm afraid. Open on Tuesday.
  19. Now we know how vital the game is on Wednesday for European qualification. With, hopefully, a bigger than normal crowd. Let's have a party. Beach balls, inflatables, hawaii shirts and sombreros. I know, some of you will think I am being premature, (not for the first time ), We are on the brink of qualifying for Europe again and if we, the fans are tense and nervous it will make the players feel that way too. These guys deserve a lot of praise for what they have been through (Gannon)? Let's dress up, relax and sing our hearts out. We can be brilliant fans when we need to be, this is our time. C'mon the WELL
  20. So we got beat by Smellic, next game please. Our next game is only potentially the decider for 4th place in the Premier League. Do you not think that after hearing the Hibs score, the players were thinking the same as us. Let's make as much noise as we can and get right behind the Well on Wednesday.
  21. This is the best option in my opinion. The South Stand could get a new see through perspex roof for the sun to shine on the park. (What was Bill Dickie thinking about when he designed that stand?) Phil O'Donnell stand costs a fortune to fireproof and maintain so, keep the brickwork on front entrance and roof. Take out all the woodwork and replace all the seating with steep,Tynecastle like seating. (comfy, padded seats for the Directors and VIP's of course). We could have a couple of new lounges, Executive boxes and a television studio with a new gantry for cameras. Extend the stand, (as originally intended but slightly smaller in keeping with 2/3 stand), then join on to the south and fill with seats, (could be filled by Old Firm fans rather than giving them both sides of the stand for games). Because we will have this new steep seating with plenty of room there will be a slightly lower capacity for the POD Stand up to the new part. Build the same on the East stand the same height as the Cooper, again, with the steep seating and joining onto the South also with an exit at the South Stand side corner for the bigot brothers games. (new capacity 14 - 15,000) As the stands will be steeper the toilets and new pie stalls will be under the seating. (Does anybody know how much all that work would cost)? There will also be new caterers who will offer us everything from Steelmen burgers, Chapmans pies and a substance called Bovril that tastes like Bovril. All at significantly lower prices than now. How do we pay for this? When I win the next quadruple Euro Millions Rollover. I like to dream.
  22. Mate I will be at Pontins, Southport from the 5th July for a weeks holiday. I booked it not realising the World Cup is on. Scotland are not in it, England are and I will need to sit through each game listening to the patronising commentators. (I'll hear about 66 every 5 minutes and I will have to grin and bear it). I will be wearing Well and Scotland tops and I bet you not one of your countrymen will buy me a drink! If World Cups were given for being miserable, England would win it every time. Fancy going for a pint when I come down?
  23. Aye you are right, however, how much will we make from finishing 4th and playing in Europe?
