  1. Hmm...well, that was disappointing. A long time since I've seen us being so passive in a game. Hoofing it to Higdon when there were four men surrounding him who were all taller was bizarre, and although I know McCall said he had trouble seeing Levante in the lead up to the game, it seemed such a basic oversight. Strangely, I wasn't as impressed with Levante as I was with Panathinaikos, but at least we gave the Greeks a really good game at Fir Park. Too many players, Lasley in particular, just had a really poor night, and I think the conditions only served to highlight the gap between our players and theirs when it came to the technical basics of the game. But hey, I wasn't expecting us to beat a team that finished 6th in La Liga last season, I just expected it to be a bit more of a fight I suppose.
  2. Alright folks, similar to before the Panathinaikos game, have done a wee preview of the tie on my blog for folk that are interested - http://theburstbawfootballblog.wordpress.com/2012/08/23/well-hope-champions-league-lessons-can-inspire-europa-league-glory/ I can see Levante adopting a similar approach to the Greeks tonight, sitting in and hoping to pick us off on the counter. Hopefully we'll be able to get the early goal this time, but a clean sheet is the most important thing IMO to give us a chance going over there. COYW!!
  3. The closer we get to kick off and the more we hear from the Panathinaikos camp, the more I'm starting to feel quietly confident we could pull off a result here. Karagounis not travelling and Katsouranis likely to be on the bench is a big boost, and although it is still a tall order, I'm hoping that we can nick it by the odd goal. Failing that I would take a clean sheet right now, but I just hope we give a decent account of ourselves! Good luck to the players, they deserve it, and savour the night lads, it's occasions like these that make the freezing nights in Forfar watching us getting beat on pens or ten years of futile trips to Snake Mountain worthwhile! COYW!
  4. Hi folks, compiled a wee rundown of our potential opponents in my blog to get in the mood for tomorrow. You can find it here if anyone's interested - http://theburstbawfootballblog.wordpress.com/ Cheers!
