  1. Wee Jamie to start and score so I'm going for 2-1 for the Well with Sutton scoring the other late on.
  2. John 'Dixie' Deans was my first hero figure.
  3. Motherwell could sign Maros Klimpl for free this summer after his agent revealed FC Midtjylland have agreed to release him from his contract Slovakia international Klimpl, 28, has impressed in Mark McGhee's midfield since joining on loan in November. His representative Tony Asghar said in the Daily Express: "Maros still has a contract with Midtjylland for another season but he has made it clear to them he wants to pursue his career in the UK. "With that in mind, his club have agreed to release Maros from his contract, so, at the end of the season, he will become a free agent. "Maros is keeping his options open for next season and that could also include staying at Motherwell. "He is very happy at Motherwell. His family are also across here and settled, so that is another important factor."

  6. I'm sure at the final whistle I heard an announcement on the radio to the motherwell fans saying no drink would be allowed on the train back to Motherwell. A bit OTT in my opinion.
  7. A charity sports night in the Newarthill Club.

  9. That's telling them Mark. Despite their good run of form, the club have hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent weeks, with the Fir Park pitch coming under heavy criticism. I think it's ludicrous to say that the pitch is dangerous or anything like that, added McGhee. The pitch is just bumpy and not conducive to passing, flowing football. But that affects us more than any other team in the SPL. It's very frustrating for me, but it's not dangerous. I've had no fears for my players when we play on that pitch, I only have fears for the way we are able to play. Our supporters should be watching a team play on a green surface and not a dessert, but the fact is that's the way it is until we get it fixed in the summer. We're going to do major renovations - there will be bulldozers in here, not shovels. So the pitch will be better next season. At the moment it's playable, not enjoyable, but get on with it.
  10. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/displa..._pitch_fine.php HAMILTON chairman Ronnie MacDonald has slammed the state of the pitch at Motherwell's Fir Park. Accies were forced to shell out £550,000 to rip up their artificial Field Turf pitch and relay a natural grass surface with undersoil heating to meet SPL criteria after their promotion to the top tier last term. And St Mirren were forced to do likewise at Love Street despite the fact they had already posted their decision to move to a new stadium. And the New Douglas Park supremo has been left raging as Well have received a nominal £20,000 fine for a heating system that has been erratic over the past two years. advertisementMacDonald said: "It cost us a lot of money to tear-up a state-of-the-art surface and yet Motherwell are allowed to let their pitch get into that state. "The ridiculous thing is we could have used the Field Turf, but only if we had undersoil heating under an artificial pitch. "It is common knowledge that Fir Park's undersoil heating hasn't worked for some time, so it is up to the SPL to get tougher rules, not on ensuring undersoil heating, but ensuring pitches are in good condition." Meanwhile, SFA chief executive Gordon Smith has admitted he is looking at a way to push through emergency loans to keep clubs solvent during a proposed two-month winter shutdown. Smith was shocked at the state of Fir Park after taking in Sunday's clash between Motherwell and Celtic. "Now he wants a winter shutdown pushed to the top of the game's agenda. He said: "If there was an agreement then we could look and see if there was some way of taking care of the financial aspect. "That will need to be looked at because it would take away the cash-flow argument. The Fir Park pitch is pretty poor. They have had more problems than most. "I feel that playing through January and February is what does most damage to the pitches."
  11. Thats the way I saw it as well... More or less a patch up job rather than the JB promise of a new super dupper playing surface.
