In the first game at firpark John Arroll was the thistle goalie and he got carried off in the first few minutes .(dont think Goodwin was involved) , no sub goalies in those days. Goodwin was sent off I think not long after that. Replay on the Monday night and Wille Watson scored a very late winner with a 20 yard shot. This is etched in my memory because my mate got chased by a dog after re the match , It was the fastest hed ever moved in his life.

O Donnell should be well out of the motherwell picture , never mind Scotland and has yet to impress me. He is extremely lucky that there is no competition for his place. Someone I know was speaking to him on Saturday night and he laid the blame at the manager. I would imagine that the club were hoping that a team would come in for him before the transfer window closed. Unfortunately that didn't happen. Not a grimshaw fan by any means but I prefer him at right back rather than the imposter.

I also remember the 1991 cup final when it seemed that luc nijholt committed numerous fouls but wasn't booked until nine minutes before the end of extra time. However that was in the day when players were harder and there wasn't so many soft touches like there are nowadays. I watched this match and I could not believe how long it took for jota to be booked .It doesn't matter how bad these fouls but the fact that it was persistent offences certainly merited a yellow card long before he got it. As I remember the referee was badly madden who in my opinion has tended to favour Celtic since they pointed out his rangers supporting tendencies whilst of course failing to mention the Celtic minded referees of which there are more than a few, but that doesn't suit their victim agenda.

I think you are being a bit unfair on mcginlay here, he was up against Ross counties best player in either half with absolutely no help from midfield and grimshaw is a total waste of a shirt , he has nothing to offer.
